I just moved to this side of Vancouver, and having passed by Paper Tiger several times on my way to work, I knew I had to give it a try. After just one visit, Im sold. Let me make something clear, though: If "the coffeehouse atmosphere" is more important to you than the coffee, you might be disappointed. Paper Tiger chooses florescent lights over Edison bulbs, and they play classic rock, not coffeehouse hits. You may mistake the owner for the buildings landlord and not a friendly and down-to-earth coffee lover. In a strange way, I felt more like I was at a local greasy spoon breakfast joint than a coffee shop. It grew on me quickly. But what sold me was the most important thing: the coffee. The owner recommended a plum latte, and I worried I may have ordered a coffee with prune juice. Instead, I got the best latte Ive had in memory, all without hiding the coffee under sugars and spices. I will definitely make Paper Tiger my go-to when I need my fix in the future.

The coffee at Paper Tiger is hands down the best coffee this reviewer has ever had! This is such a unique business and provides an experience that knows no comparison in this area. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his local community. I can best describe this business as an interactive coffee shop, where you, as the customer, are welcomed to enjoy local art, an extensive collection of classic literature, free WI-FI, scheduled events that run the gamut of educational to entertainment, and truly a coffee lovers cup of coffee. Kudos to the owner for bringing this business to our area. Helpful hint: Make sure to bring cash as they do not accept debit/credit cards. Secondly, if you have any books laying around collecting dust, donate them to the business for all to enjoy. Where else can you get Dostoevsky for $2.00! Awesome!

I love this place... It is a great place to sit and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, without all the "noise" associated with most shops in the Vancouver area. The coffee, and helpful staff are a perfect combination of great taste, served with a friendly smile. I am amazed at how much Kenny (the new owner) knows about the coffee industry, giving him unique insight on how to blend the beans to give you a delicious cup-o-joe. He is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and passionate about mastering the art of roasting great coffee. I am not sure if you knew this, but they roast the beans there in plain view of everyone, so you can literally "See" how fresh the beans are... It is an extraordinary experience to watch the process from start to finish :) Take an hour, and just pop in.. Im sure you will be delighted :)

I dont see what the fuss was about. I stopped in here in spring and was surprised to learn they carry no flavors for coffee. If you like straight black coffee, I can make just as good of a cup with my French press at home. The old solid wood table was beautiful, the supplied games were nice. Then there’s the barista with the nasty attitude, who talks to other customers within your earshot about you asking what pastries they had in a snide voice...no thanks. He couldnt even answer that question and then acts like Im the dolt for asking. On top of this, all the surrounding parking, in a parking lot was anywhere from 30 minute to 2 hour limits. The neighborhood is questionable also, but that can change quickly. I definitely wouldnt recommend paying $4 for a cup of black coffee.

See, the hours, 7:30 (really???) to 2 (wtf???) thats not a business, its a hobby. I went in and I was the ONLY PERSON there and I was there for about 30 minutes having a cup and doing the crossword and all during that time NO ONE ELSE came in. (that lack of customers told me that I wasnt the only one who was not impressed) Its a coffee-hobby shop for a hobby roaster, not a real business. A real coffee house will open at 6 or 6:30 latest and stay open until 5 or 6. Oh and the coffee? It was just so-so, and actually not good enough to make Paper Tiger a destination for me. Thats my experience, and Im just telling it like it was. Oh and parking was confusing too.

I was needing to kill some time and could only find little coffee carts. I ran across this little spot and was really impressed with the cold brew that they made in house. It was strong but not overly strong, the flavor was smooth and not acidic. The tables outside were a little hard to have your drink not slide across, but it was nice to have an outside spot to sit. I was a little heartbroken to see that they tossed multiple plastic cups into the garbage when they wouldnt come apart. She seemed to throw away 5 cups for every 1 cup actually used. I guess thats just the Portland in me wishing to see recycling instead.

A group of us had a variety of drinks and We have never had a better cup of coffee/Tea than We had at the Paper Tiger. The people that own this place know what theyre doing. The experience was a wonder environment, with a crew thats welcoming too. As we hung out we could see they are all about giving back. They hired a deaf person and we could see the crew signin. I gotta say it was as warm and smooth as the coffee that was served. If theres ever a place to buy the best beverage and support a small business, this is you place.

31 reviews,ALL 5 stars, I had to see what all the fuss was about with this place so my wife and I stopped in the other day and ordered a mocha and I kid you not - it was delicious!!! Theres something about the flavor of their coffee that will have us coming back again in the near future. The place is small but cozy and it just "works". Alex was awesome in his customer service and Im glad to post my 5 star review with the rest of them. Keep up the great work !!! :-)

Im not sure what coffee everyone else here was drinking but I got a cup in store and brought a bag home to grind and brew fresh. The cup I got to go was so incredibly hot, it tasted old and burnt. I figured it was just sitting around and the bag I bought would taste better. The beans were dark and greasy and its tasted burnt. Both in store and at home the coffee tasted like old folgers. On top of the bad coffee the service was meh at best.

to have Paper Tiger as My neighborhood coffee shop! I mean, Ive got a sweet place to chill with people, peruse some print, enjoy good music (live too), and all over an uncompromised Cup of Coffee. Even my 2 year old asks, "Can we go to Paper Tiger? I want coffee" (I get her a steamed milk so she can be like a big girl). For real though, Zach is passionate about the Bean. This stuff is Nectar Dude! Go there. Drink it!

Loved the coffee. Medium roast, complex flavors. At the very first sip I thought, "wow this tastes great" .Very fairly priced. Barista was friendly. This is now my go to for "to-go" coffee. The only minor observation is that there are so many chairs crammed in here that there is no place to sit down except at the bar. A third of the chairs need to be removed
