Pros: Great tasting meat, almost always near empty so its a relaxed environment. Cons: Just about everything else. My main issue with this place which is the reason i will not be returning, is that they have a chalk board displayed where you can see it coming in the front door that says "happy hour 4 to 7pm" with a raspberry margarita advertised for $5. When i received my check i was charged $6.25 for the margarita at 5pm and my partner was charged $16 for a double shot drink in some sprite. He also had asked for a lime he never recieved with his drink. When i asked the server why i was charged this amount she told me that it was "not happy hour".... it was 5pm and their sign said happy hour was 4pm to 7pm.. when the main server who appeared to be a manager or possibly the owner came over to address my question he stated that yes it is happy hour but because I was seated outside the bar I would not receive the happy hour price! I asked him why being seated 5 feet away from the bar affected my pricing and he just said its not his fault and walked away from me. We have been there often enough in the past couple of months (for the laid back atmosphere) that he knows who we are. I told him he lost me as a customer due to this and the past two experiences I had with their servers being unresponsive. The servers are not particularly rude but they are not friendly either and act like you are putting them out of their way if you ask for anything. When I asked my server for a mild verde sauce for my 2 year old to dip his chips in I was ignored until I asked a second server 15 minutes later. Server did not seem happy to help whatsoever. Acted like they were not being paid to be there and be friendly. I work in a restaurant and know how a customer should be treated. I am a very polite and friendly customer as well so I do not see any excuse for the lack of attention and respect.

My daughter and I arrived at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. After seating us we were asked if we would like anything to drink aside from water. I asked the waiter (who appeared to be all alone at this time) if the bartender knew how to make a real margarita. He said, "No bartender right now." I looked at the advertisement on the menu about coming in and enjoying happy hour and it began at 4:00. I asked when the bartender would arrive and he said, "5pm." The music playing was low and not normal loud mariachi music, but the television in the bar across the way with a football game was turned up so loudly that it interupted the ambiance the mood music was trying to accomplish. Disappointing... The chips were not the best I have eaten. Crispy, but the oil they fried them in tasted old - yuck!" They only serve red salsa, and in a very tiny bowl - but it was tasty and fresh. We had to ask for three bowls of salsa. We ordered the Tacos al Carbon - steak. Wow! They were the best tasting tacos Ive tasted in a long time and I eat this dish anytime its listed on a menu. Steak was tender and deliciously seasoned, beans were tasty and they serve fresh quac and sour crema. The fact the waiter was seating table after table and waiting on them all alone for the first 35 minutes left us feeling neglected (no refresh on water and napkins or salsa until dinner came.) The quality of the food redeemed them in time for my review... Customer service and the fact they were not staffed at the time they opened is poor management in my opinion... easy things they could fix to make this a great place to dine.

Disgusting food and poor service. It took the weighter almost 20 minutes to take our order and he repeatedly made unfunny jokes and he honestly seemed drunk. But the service would have been forgiven if the food was at least edible. I ordered the fajita salad because I have gotten a really good tasting salads from Mexican restaurants in the past and I wanted something lighter than your usual beans and rice Mexican fair. It was awful. Old iceburg lettuce, sloppy cut tomatoes, mushrooms and bland grilled chicken thats it. No cilantro or lime or seasonings I could notice, not even any dressing until I asked for some which was just bottled store bought ranch. This was not a Mexican fajita salad it could have been called a grilled chicken salad but at any rate it was NOT worth $15.00. Not to mention the tortilla chips had a strange moldy flavor. Much better off going to El Sarape. Definitely never going back... If I could get my money back I would have but I was with work colleagues and I didnt want to seem like a rude customer.

Very poor quality food. My daughter order the new York steak medium well and was raw. The waitress forgot ask for if we wanted something to drink and to bring us some ships until the food was ready, whats the point, too late by then! The waitress was too busy watching the football game in the bar. He told us the reason my daughter stake was raw is because the steaks are frozen until they cook it. No wander my fajitas had no flavor, and why put carrots on fajitas. This is the only Mexican restaurant the puts carrots on fajitas and verely no meat. I told the waitress my opinion about my dinner and his respond was they have been doing the same for a long time and they are not about to change. So If I could I give them -5, but the only option on this review is one start too many!

Last night with my wife an kids. The guacamole was great. But when the food came I noticed a fly nat or insect in my kids rice crawling around. I quickly took the rice off the plate . My wife ordered the biggest burrito on the menu was steak of some sort I tried the steak it tasted fermented or later in some type of alcohol it tasted old an sour not what meat tastes tile my meal was ok the Verde burrito. But anyways I will not be going back to this joint it was our first experience an our last very disappointed because I enjoy good Mexican food

I ordered a chimichanga, a taco, and a combination meal. When I arrived they had charged me for a chimichanga meal and a taco meal. Ive been served my togo order by a literal child before. Im sure this is a family owned restaurant but I dont want to have a preteen hand me my food. In 2006 I got food poisoning and missed my junior prom from eating bad chicken. My family insists we still eat here. The food is tasty and the service is generally pretty good, but the mayan in lacey or the place on college&yelm is better.

Out of my party of 5 (3 adults 2 kids) everybody enjoyed their food, except my son who disliked his childs burrito, wife said it was "too wet and salty". We went because, of the two places in the immediate area, this is the one authentic enough to have horchata, so I was not disappointed. Server was extra attentive, even if the accent was a tad bit thick (even to my wife who is herself Hispanic). The kids meals were extremely reasonably priced, and the cook could be heard singing in the kitchen, so bonus live music.
