Do not eat here if you are a health conscious individual or do not like Fish. The choices are limited on the menu. And if you want pancakes or waffles, the only options are things made with white flour. We had heard so much about this place and had high hopes. But we were extremely disappointed. My husband ordered Chicken Fried Steak which was not fried, no batter, soggy, greasy with the fish oil taste, and no flavor. His plate included scrambled eggs (no flavor) and greasy fish oil soaked red potato fries. I ordered the Swedish Pancakes with Fruit and Creme. It was not that great and my fruit had most likely been soaked in some kind of sugar water and was overpowering. I guess the natural sugars in the fruit are not good enough. It tasted bad. And my daughter all did not like this place at all either. She didnt eat one thing that we gave her, which is rare. I would have rather eaten at Dennys and I hate Dennys. The food was either drenched in fish oil, butter, sugar. And the fish oil is in everything; red potatoes {which are a take on hash browns}, eggs, or chicken fried steak (as far as we know). If one item on your plate has fish oil (which is not mentioned on the menu), then pretty much all of your items on your plate are soaked in fish oil. I have heart burn now within an hour of eating there. The staff was friendly. Just spent $40 on two people and not worth it.

We were there Saturday morning for breakfast. Wait was 30 minutes, which is acceptable if the food/ambiance is good. This place failed on both. I asked our waitress to add "strawberries and whipped cream" to my son and mys pancakes. When they finally arrived, they had strawberries, blackberries, and a big glob of what I can only guess is the cinnamon roll frosting. Um. Ok. Not what I ordered, but at that point I had been waiting an hour so I ate it. Although I ate around the blackberries, because I dont like them. Then I got our bill. They charged us $6.50 EACH for the "berry topping". $6.50?!?!!! I have never been charged so much to add some topping to a couple pancakes and it wasnt even what I ordered. Our bill for 3 people was $60 before tip. Inside the cafe was unbearable warm, the only reason we stayed to eat was because we were seated next to an open window. It was incredibly loud inside. There was live music being played, which only served to raise the volume level. Sitting at our 4-top table we had to raise our voices to even hear each other. If youre looking to drop ~$20 per person on breakfast, Id recommend going someplace nice.

It is well worth any wait for the excellent service and amazing meals. My family of 4 ate breakfast there for the first time today. It was a 30 minute drive and a 30 minute wait so you may not want to go there with starving kids. My kids are 4 and 5 and are very picky eaters, well they ate every single bite of their french toast and pancakes and even the thick perfectly cooked bacon. The Calfornia egg scramble will be my regular order for the rest of my life! The raisin toast is stuffed full of delicious raisins and has a perfect crust. My kids even ate the cinnamon roll, which I did not want to share even though it will feed a family of 4 easily. The place is very kid friendly and the wait area has a lot of seating. Crayons and kids menus are ready at the table when you sit down. Our food came fast and every order was perfect. The coffee is super fresh and extra hot. The place was packed but you would never know it. They have plenty of wait staff checking in on you and bringing fresh cream and coffee refils. They have raisin bread loaves to go as well as cinnamon rolls as well as more baked goods. Just ask your server. Enjoy!!

Worst customer service by the girl working front today (6/19/16). No smiles with plenty of attitude, as if she owned the place and did not give a toothpick about her job security. I enter the restaurant with my wife and walk up to the counter and its an expectation that the employee would help us or guide us through the seating process. Stood there with a big smile on my face as she stares at me for a few seconds with no facial expression and asks "Do you have a question?" as if I was annoying her or if she was already annoyed by countless amount of people walking up to her (which is a normal thing at this cafe as they are very busy). I though to myself: you mean, Hi how are you today? How many people do you have?. But, I do not have time to explain to a young lady how a job should be done. Im there to spend my hard earned money. Please, remind your staff that no matter how good your business is doing, or no matter how good the food is, customers will fade if treated like so. There are plenty of other establishments that are willing and hungry to serve us better.

Well.. are you looking for an awesome breakfast experience, in a restaurant with good environment, nice decorations, friendly staff and super delicious food? If you are looking for that type of high grade this place is not for you. Yes the portions are huge but they lack of quality and freshness. We ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice is not fresh, if you squeeze juice at home you will realized it taste like concentrate. Our Eggs Benedict were humongous. The biscuits were low quality and dry, eggs were poached perfectly, ham was good, hollandaise sauce didnt taste like home made, sausage patty tasted funny/raw, potatoes were great. Service was amazing, place design has nothing special and the waiting time is reasonable for being that popular. We will never come again since we prefer smaller portions and higher quality.

This place is an icon of the Great NW. Its usually busy....especially on the weekends...and theres a reason for it. They have great service and fantastic food. We are going again for breakfast tomorrow. We were just there last weekend. Opened awhile back by four ladies who just love to cook and one of them was obviously a gifted baker. Last week my wife had the spinach and tomato benedict. I had the Eggs Benedict. Both come with three eggs on homemade biscuits. The service was fast for how busy it was. We took home one of their famous cinnamon rolls, and yes, they are big. The only drawback, bad for my waistline! Wife said the food is so fresh and tasty that she cant stop eating it, even after she gets full. One of these days we will get out there for their lunch.

Maltbys Cafe is a must-dine destination. I go there for the amazing farm-style breakfasts: huge portions, wide selection, fresh ingredients. I love the casual, congenial ambiance, and the staff is always, always friendly. Although I maintain a super clean, health conscious diet most of the time, I will make an exception when at Maltbys since I cant pass up their famous cinnamon roll. I appreciate their gluten free bread option as well (when Im being good), but do wish they would consider some other gluten free/dairy free options in their pancake/waffle/french toast offerings. All in all, I absolutely love this place and no one I have ever brought here has ever been disappointed with their food. Highly recommend.
