Going to RockCreek for brunch vs. happy hour/dinner are two completely different experiences. Sure, brunch was fine - nothing to write home about for me, Seattles "unique" brunches are a dime a dozen - but when I went for dinner and happy hour since then, its like a completely new, amazing experience. I chose RockCreek for my special birthday dinner and what a great decision that was. I now live in Fremont, just two blocks away so I wanted to be somewhere within walking distance. We were sat upstairs in a quiet, intimate corner, perfect for a special occasion. Our server immediately was speaking my language. I really appreciated how he recommended 1-2 favorites from their menu categories - starters, small plates, and fin fish. Since he was so confident and helpful, we decided to just let them do the work and we ordered from his recommendations. We were not disappointed! We started with a bottle of bubbly and the cauliflower salad. Ive never had anything like the cauliflower salad - shaved (not chopped) cauliflower florets, chewy farro, toated pine nuts, white balsamic vinegar and celery leaves. It was perfectly season and a refreshing combination of flavors. Next, we shared the tuna tartar with a quail egg and house made rye crackers, really getting a taste for their take on fresh seafood. it did not disappoint. For entrees, I ordered the super buttery, super light yet decadent monkfish in saffron broth. My boyfriend the bold and spicy seafood stew with fresh seafood and housemade chorizo. Everything was seasoned and prepared to perfection. Then, the dessert. Oh, the dessert. The Smores, which was also recommended to us by our server, is everything: salted graham cracker crust, dark chocolate mousse and toasted marshmallow meringue. It was the perfect birthday dessert! Having the waitstaff be so confident and knowledgeable about their menu and to really present a unique and special experience to their guests is what keeps me coming back for dinner, happy hour, all the things.

Like idiots, we didnt have a reservation (the next available table was at 9:15, a good sign in my book) so we opted to wait behind another couple for some open seats at the bar. We were quoted a 45 minute wait. The host was very apologetic and offered us water and bar menus to look at. I ordered a delicious smokey mezcal/orange cocktail and brought it to the bench where we waited. After 15 minutes the couple before us were seated and 5 minutes after them we were seated, 25 minutes below the time we were quoted. Great! We ordered 2 oysters apiece, 2 small plates and an entrée. Wow. I wont bore you with the details but everything we had including the great service blew is away. These guys are deliberate and thoughtful with their approach to food and service. We will be back. The tuna tartare and the grilled octopus were a delight. I wanted to hold the dishes up above my head like that scene from The Lion King with Simba on pride rock and just let the glory and light filter down onto our smiling faces.

What a wonderful addition to Fremont. The atmosohere here is unparalleled from the smiling helpful staff who even offered sunglasses to borrow on the deck to the amazing deck complete with fire pit. Everything is locally sourced and super fresh of course, but it really translates to to the food. Even the drinks had a newly minted taste. The seafood is of course the standout and features heavily on the menu. Of the four dishes we tried, the Mahi was cooked with a spice rub which was great and let the fish shine through, and the cod was perfect and simple, but some of the others were slightly covered by the sauce. The oysters brockafella were incredible with bacon and cheese. The dessert though was the best part. The key lime pie was incredible and very sweet but balanced with tart. The deconstructed smore was my favorite and I stole half of it from the rest of our group. The lmon olive oil cake and beignets must have been good too because when I finished stealing the smore, they were gone.

One of my most favorite seafood restaurants in the COUNTRY. Rock Creeks menu is an excellent showcase of fish and seafood of the Pacific Northwest and no trip to Seattle would be complete without a visit here. I have been here many times and had the pleasure of meeting many of the servers, but my absolute favorite is Brian. He knows his fish, he knows his wine, and he makes everyone at the table feel comfortable. I would highly recommend asking to sit in Brians section, he is awesome. One could order in the standard 3-course format, but some of my best experiences at Rock Creek have been when ordering a selection of appetizers and small plates, and one large plate to share (depending on how many people are at the table). Menu staples like the calamari and the oysters are must-haves if its your first time, but the rest of the menu changes every day so I would personally recommend taking advantage of whatever sounds new, different and especially seasonal. Enjoy!

Five stars for happy hour. Had the oyster poboy. Great stuff for $9. Oysters are priced reasonably off the dinner menu - $3-4 a pop. *Note that while one oyster species may usually be larger or smaller than another species, they ended up serving us some specimens of a certain large species that ended up being quite small, and a large specimen of a typically smaller oyster. The bartender knows what hes doing. Manager is also solid at making drinks too when they get busy. Great spirits selection, didnt see anything too interesting off their cocktail offerings though - would be fun to have a seasonal cocktail recommendation - or even a pairing recommendation for their various dishes. Otherwise, prices can seem a bit high, but they are still busy - its what the market here can afford. Go for happy hour!

Went here for the first time the other day with a group of friends. Our waiter was not very friendly, so that was a turnoff right from the start. The food that we ordered was generally pretty good, though I think the consensus was that the small plates were better than the mains (and their prices seemed more in line with the portion sizes). My main complaint was that the menu was fairly limited when it came to the mains: every option was a fin fish, so I couldnt get scallops or crab or similar things even if I wanted them. That seems pretty strange for a seafood restaurant. With lots of good seafood places in Seattle, I wont make it a priority to come back here before trying other options.

I dined in this restaurant just last week, and the food was absolutely superb! I can still taste the flavor in my mouth and I want to go back as soon as possible. Everything that my companions and I ordered is worth raving about. Although the restaurant is crowded, the food surely makes up for it. Maybe thats why the place is quaint, because they want to ensure the quality of each dish that is ordered. Our server for the night was also very kind to my friends and I, he would always check up on us if everything was all right, and was very alert whenever we called for his attention. Overall, my friends and I had an exquisite experience in this lovely restaurant.

Unique spot, upper Fremont district, service good. Some menu items not well explained. Ex, ordered calamari, which we were told was deep fried, but served in a very spicy hot green salad, not at all what we were expecting. Prawns ordered for appetizer were very good. My wifes vegetarian pasta dish just ok. The Char fish I ordered cooked perfectly. Total bill $95, no alcohol, no dessert, seems way to high for what this was. $3.00 for bread to boot. For about the same tab, Rays Boathouse, Palisades, Elliotts, Danielles Great food and outstanding ambiance. Doubt I would return.
