Wednesday mornings at the North Star Diner are a bit of a reward for me: if I can get the dogs to daycare up north and get to Greenwood before 9am, I can eat off the cheap menu. 6 bucks for 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast! If I am late, I just go home.. Ive only been late once. The food is good. The biscuits and gravy (I do branch out at times) are tasty. In fact, everything Ive had here is good. It is not gourmet food but thats OK with me. Im tired of some culinary school graduates interpretation of what food should be like. Just make gravy, OK? Dont try to jazz it up because you are never ever successful. The real draw, honestly, is the service. The waiter on Wednesday is quite frankly the nicest young man Ive ever met. Tony, you are the star of North Star. And you understand that customers eating breakfast dont need hectic and frenetic music. Great music. Good conversations, even if Im just eavesdropping! Thursday is a different story. I love this place...on Wednesday morning.

Love the delicious food, fun wait staff, and 24 hours a day availability. Unfortunately, the owners are putting in a back deck, which will mostly w wipe out the already slim pickings for parking. (Street parking is hard to come by. Also, theres no back door for customers so ... wth?!) The recipes here are to die for but, sadly, prepared inconsistently and not always with the freshest ingredients (weve experienced both bad and burnt). So, on some days, the food is amazing, but on other days, maybe best to avoid. The music selection is either wonderful (soothing indie) or quite obnoxious (think heavy metal). The bar (next door) is consistly good--try a Baileys milkshake, yumm. The restaurant interior is clean but the building itself and the furniture are old and worn. Kids are welcome but this is more of a grown-up hangout (note, the bar can get loud on karaoke night!). Seating on the restaurant side can be sparse, especially when its busy (like Friday nights and weekends).

Solid dive diner located in an old Chinese restaurant in the heart of Greenwood. The portions are good sized. Eggs were pretty good - French Toast & Pancakes are better. Solid Chicken Fried Steak as well. My brunch Michelada with Modelo was very good! They have anice cocktail list here. They serve the Singapore Sling here - Im looking forward to visiting that vintage cocktail!! Its interesting how theyve re-purposed the old decor. I can remember being in here a couple times as a teen and Im impressed they kept the ceiling decorations. Excellent wait staff. It really is dive-y in here, with chipped tables and a slightly wonky layout...so if youre looking for chi-chi, skip and leave me in peace to eat.

Nooooo. I ordered the beef stew, and a small bowl of oily water came out with a hunk of unedible beef fat centered in the middle which was weirdly sweet. They offered me another dish which I thought was pretty dope customer service of them, but that dish was also hard to swallow. I went back a second time and ordered a club sandwich and I had the worst stomach ache afterwards. My husband tried to get some cookies to go and they were burnt and full on black at the bottom. Like, no, homie...Id rather get a roll of Tollhouse and do it myself at that point. It bums me out because I really wanted this place to be good (at least edible). The service is extra slow, but they get an extra star for being so nice.

OK, heres the deal: I love this place. It reminds me of a former haunt of mine - a fabulous place with great brunches and drinks-but on its own it still makes my list. The staff are intelligent with just a touch smartass (critical for me). The food is awesome; I just had what are the best fries, ever. If I return and the fries do not meet the benchmark these fries have set, well, lets just say Ill have a "Ah, damn!" moment. So, heres to never fixing something that isnt broken. Keep everything as it is. You got this! (P.S.- I know Im an odd bird, but heed my words).

I came in late tonight to meet someone for pie and tea (I ended up having a baked potato instead). It was decent, but the menu covered quite a good spread and all priced pretty well. There was rockabilly playing over the speakers, which I thought was rad! Theres something about the feel of a place, though, when you know its right. And this place definitely has the right feel. It kind of reminded me of the Hurricane in the late 90s or early 2000s in that respect. Great service, too! Ill definitely be back for more than a potato.

a friend told us about this place and we were surprised how good it was. I got the Big Dipper : 3 eggs , hash browns, bacon and Challah French toast . The bacon was thick and tasty, and the browns were crispy and delicious . I couldnt finish the three humongous slices of french toast so I took two of them home. Real butter and real maple syrup was a nice touch. For 10.95 a real bargain. Coffee was above average and only a buck. Definitely coming back to try one of their omelets. Harv

I really wanted this place to be good. But the food here is on the wrong side of the price to quality ratio. If the food was say 2 dollars cheaper per menu item the quality of the food would be acceptable and the 24 hour dinner feel complete. But right now you just end up overpaying for very mediocre diner food. This place makes me terribly sad, greenwood deserves a great diner. This is not that. Also I couldnt even tell that there was chocolate In the hot chocolate I ordered. Skip it.

They have a few issues to iron out before theyll be anyones idea of a go-to neighborhood diner. Start with a broken, unusable seat in a front-window booth. Next, a long wait before a server came along to even offer coffee. Breakfast was no longer hot when it arrived, sloppily presented, and not so tasty. In fact, the sausage was undercooked and the potatoes unacceptably greasy. Wish it were all otherwise, because a 24-hour diner would be a capital idea around here. Just not this one.

Great service, Kate is super friendly and pay attention to details, the food is good too. We love the art wall with all kinds of hand on it, and the truth that the provide 24hrs dinning is super. Follow up for new visit, the flavor of food was not as good as before, the quantity although is still huge, too much. Service is as good as before.

The reason to go here is for the location and atmosphere. The bar side is cozy and they serve the full menu there. On the other side you get more of the classic diner feel. The food is fine, nothing to write home about. The service is also just ok. It takes a while to order, then get your food and then pay.

I LOVE this place and seriously come here all the time. Its the perfect diner food- tasty and I always leave with leftovers. Ive even come here to get some brunch and do some computer work on a weekday, and they were really kind and attentive. I bring folks here a lot. Try the grilled cheese <3<3
