HORRIBLE customer service. The owner should replace this kitchen manager or whatever her position is. I ordered a lunch special ah goo jjim (steamed monkfish) and there was hardly a fish in it. Just pile of bean sprouts and literally 3 pieces of fish flesh that are about a size of a thumbnail. But this is not the part I got mad. I kindly ask the server thinking that this might be a mistake or something. The server was tentative and asked this "manager" and I just happened to hear what she said on my back (I was sitting right next to the kitchen entrance). She said "dont eat it then" bluntly on my back. I ordered a fish meal not a bunch of veggie mixed with sauces for $18.99. I was really shocked that she even said that to me. Then she came to me and looked at me saying "whats the problem?" She said the fish is naturally this small and its suppose to be like this and went away...I know what a monkfish like and how big the fish is. I dont know where they get the fish but she must have thought I never had this dish before... I was very shocked on this persons manner. Very stuck up manner. I dont know if shes always like that to other customers or Koreans but I was never treated like this in a restaurant telling me to not eat it. So I cant even ask or comment about the food I ordered?? Very disappointed...will never visit here and recommend here again.

After my experience here tonight I was driven to register and write a review. First of all, the place is full of Koreans dining - which to my mind is usually a good sign of authentic food. I didnt see any Caucasians there except for us, and the staff really went all out to make us happy with our experience. We had three small children who would rather have had macaroni and cheese for dinner, and the staff went above and beyond to find something to please their palates, without our asking for it. In fact they also did the same for us, even though we *wanted* to try things like fermented crab. This was a very friendly, welcoming place, with excellent food, some of which is in gigantic proportions. Leans heavily toward seafood, with some beef and pork dishes. Id say its on the more expensive side, so save it for a date night rather than a family excursion. This is a place that clearly takes pride in its dishes, and from what Ive seen, rightly so.

Take this with a grain of salt as it could be a variety of different things which contributed to this unpleasant experience. The food was little more than decent.. Certainly not the best nor the worst. It was the service that really got me. Perhaps it was a long day or a cultural barrier, but the older woman who served us had a bit of an attitude every time we ordered more food. Thats usually fine in my books, but I draw the line when she rushed our meal 30 minutes before closing. If you are reading this: I overlooked several mistakes that were made up until that point but sometimes patience runs out. Food service is not just about the food but the entirety of the experience. Customer service can really make or break you. PS The younger girl who served us was excellent. Its too bad she only took our initial order.

I really had high expectations going here for the first time. I been looking for a Korean restaurant that served Gamjatang for the longest time since I been back from Korea and after searching online every now and then I found this place. Well it was no where authentic or as good as I hope for and a little over price. The Gal Bi wasnt as tender and juicy as I expected. The dish with the pork slices, raw oysters, and kimchi cabbage (cant remember the name of the dish) was alright but not what I expected. Overall the dishes didnt seem fresh, as if they were using their remaining produce for the week. If youre use to eating good old traditional dishes like Gamjatang from your corner mom and pop shops like i was, then you wont enjoy it here.

Im not sure if this was because of the time and circumstances, but they seem to be understaffed. The customers who walked in werent accounted for and the wait was very long. For the food, it seemed to be a relatively low amount of food for the price of it. This might be because we are a family of 4 but nonetheless... Disregarding this, the food was excellent! Everything we ordered was great. The bulgogi and spicy pork was tender and tasteful. The seafood pancake was crispy and the tofu soup was perfect. For the restaurant itself, it is very nice looking and clean. If it werent for the long wait and seemingly understaffed restaurant this place would definitely have 5 stars. I guess Ill have to wait for next time.

Im not Korean, so im unable to judge the authenticity of Korean food, only how it tastes to my likings compared to the same food i had in other Korean restaurants. With that said, this place has decent food. When i went, there were lots of Korean eating, so that must be some sign of approval. The short ribs are thicker and tender than most places. The glass noodle with beef was also good. I did not care for the pancake because it has way too much green onion inside. Is that how its supposed to be? I often have this dish at other restaurants but dont remember it having this much green onion inside.

If you want to have authentic Korean food, this is the place. Full of Korean customers and served by Koreans, which indicates great authentic taste. Service is great, especially waitresses chatting with kids, teaching me how to eat bi bim bap (in Toronto it was served differently), and being very friendly. The food was really great, especially the seafood pancake, which was huge and filled with seafood and green onions. My bi bim bap was full of flavour and definitely would get it again. To make the experience even better, they brought watermelon with the bill. Definitely will come back again.

Inusual cases they are fine, but when there are issues they are really bad at handling it. When they gave us the wrong entree their response was that we ordered it wrong and refused to change it. They dont care about the customer. I asked to see the manager and the waitresss response was that she was it because shes been here the longest. I have never been treated this way at a restaurant before!

Im Korean from Korea and this place is most authentic Korean restaurant in Seattle area. It has that Korean-like service (you ask for service to ahjummas or use bell ringers on table). If you dont like the service, too bad! Taste their kimchi and you know that they made it from scratch. Try making kimchi at home folks, then you might appreciate their efforts!

Sorry, I have not been going to this restaurant for over a year. Great foods but very rude, inattentive and stuck up servers. Not worth going there. I used to frequent this restaurant as alone or with my husband. It seems that they love a big group.

As an Eastside transplant in Seattle, my palette is starved of good Korean food. I find myself making the trip to Sam Oh Jung frequently because of the delicious marinated, raw, blue crab! Just about everything else is great as well.
