Went to this place because it has 4 stars on Google and Yelp. Place looks good so that was promising. The menu offers good variety with a number of combos. The service was poor. The waitress we had asked if we wanted tea to which we said yes and then we wound up sitting there for a while and had to ask the bus person for our tea after he gave tea to the table of people that came in after us. The food took at least 30 minutes to come out. The two tables next to us joked about giving us their leftovers before we went hungry because they had waited so long too. Everytime we wanted anything we had to stop our waitress as she was running by and each time she never actually stopped resulting in me stating each request (napkins, more water, mustard, etc) after she was 3 feet past our table and she acted like we were bothering her. My mom and I both ordered combos and when the food arrived it was a lot of food. We could have just ordered one combo and split it. The bbq pork was not hot and didnt have much char siu on the outside, the honey shrimp was good, my mom ordered sweet & sour chicken without the sweet & sour sauce (I know, right!?!) Which was decent. Neither one of us liked the rice or the chow mein. Then my Moms full water glass slid off the table (The table tilts a little and the condesation caused a hydroplane effect) and landed on her bench seat getting her purse and jacket wet. As she got up she had a wet spot the size of the cantelop on her. I had to hunt for someone to come clean it up. They came over with only a few napkins to wipe the booth. I had to go find the manager and complain because no one offered my mom a towel or anything. When we asked for to-go boxes, because neither one of us had really touched the chow mein or rice, the owner/manager did comp my Moms meal and apologized that they were short staffed as someone called off at the last minute. Even with more attentive staff, we would never go back because we felt the food quality was just not there.

Decent location, clean restaurant, staff was very nice (the staff is the best part of the whole restaurant). We came here because it was rated one of the highest restaurants in the area, especially for Chinese food. Unfortunately, the food didnt really do it for us. Thats not to say that it was bad -- it was just very different, and not our kind of different. The General Chicken was extremely tangy. My wife also commented on another dish -- and she was wondering if it was soaked in vinegar to give it more of that tangy taste. Dont get me wrong -- I ate plenty of the General Chicken, but the flavor just isnt what I like or expect from General Chicken. So... it wasnt bad, but just wasnt good either. The worst part about their menu is they seem to be VERY inflexible on "substitutions." Were not big pork fans. And, unless you really like shoving pork, pork, pork , pork, pork, down your pie-hole, you might want to consider a different location. They had pork in just about everything... port in the Hot and Sour soup... pork in the rice... shoot, even the kids menu was riddled with pork as EVERYTHING had pork as a main ingredient except for the one vegetarian dish. We just ordered other food for the kids. On the lunch menu just about every dish comes with BBQ Pork. Sorry, but not interested. For my General Chicken dish I asked if I could have chicken fried rice instead of the pork fried rice. I was told "no." So... I guess they pre-make this huge vat of BBQ Pork and Pork Fried Rice, so thats what they push on everyone or include in every meal. So, because of the different taste of the food, which we werent huge fans of, and the fact that pork seems to be in everything, and were not pork fans, and they dont allow substitutions... it knocks a couple starts off the rating for us. Obviously, our opinion of the place is not in the majority, as it has pretty high ratings. Then again, they seem to rate everything pretty high in this area.

The servers were quite friendly, and tended to our needs. Unfortunately, the food was bad. I ordered the Kung Pow Chicken, and let me tell you, there was no "pow" to be found. Kung Pow Chicken is traditionally a spicy dish. In fact, their menu acknowledges this by having a hot chili graphic next to the listing. Instead of getting spicy, I got bland, overcooked-to-the-point-of-rubbery chicken. Perhaps the chef is unaware, but bell peppers are not interchangeable with chili peppers. While the bell peppers look nice, they do not contribute any degree of spiciness to the dish. Not including chilis in the dish would have been fine if they had used chili oil and/or chili paste in the sauce. Sadly for me, the sauce seemed to only consist of water and soy sauce. Instead of getting a delectably spicy chicken dish, I received a bland plate of rubber, a pound of water chestnuts, mushy bell peppers, and about five peanuts. Its pretty bad when Ive had better kung pow from California Pizza Kitchen than from a restaurant that specializes in Chinese cuisine.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. After indicating a food allergy, I was treated dismissively, pressured to order, refused substitutions (despite being willing to pay extra, as the menu stated), and overall treated poorly. After ordering something I didnt really want because she refused ("I wont do that") to swap a single item in a combination dinner, I tried to order a side dish, to which she replied "You can just have some of his", pointed at my boyfriend and walked away without giving me a chance to respond. I was not rude or pushy, in fact Im supremely apologetic about any alterations, but its better than ending up in the hospital. I wasnt asking for anything complicated or unusual, and yet I was still treated outstandingly poorly. If I hadnt been at a family dinner for a birthday, I would have walked out right then. Will never be back.

Delicious food, huge portions, and amazingly friendly staff. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and this place brings me right back to that time period. It has the authentic look and feel youd expect when entering a Chinese restaurant in mainstream America. The staff are very fun and friendly. They make you feel right at home. This is by far the best spot in all of Longview to enjoy a meal with family and friends; or just by yourself. My fiance loves this place too! Check it out.

The food is good. But the to-go service is horrible. I called for a bowl of soup and the girl said "I dont know how long it will take, I will call you back." She called back an HOUR later and told me to come get my soup. An hour for a bowl of soup! I am not joking, I think the staff is severely mentally disabled. But the food is good. If you can put up with stupid people and you have hours to waste, go to Chinese Garden.
