Horrible customer service!!!!!!!!!!!! Came in to eat breakfast and was told to take a seat where ever I liked. I sat in one area with a lady and her baby near me the lady had the baby playing with some really annoying toys, so I moved across the restaurant problem solved(the toys kept the baby happy and I fault no one for them). I then heard the waitress taking to a couple about a restaurant(do not know if it was here of another place) and how long it had been there and the owner of it. Then after about seven minutes of this the waitress noticed she had fallen behind and got all flustered. Including me she had four or five tables and two had already been eating so she had maybe three tables to wait on. After calling for help she then brought out water and I thought maybe I was gonna get waited on but nope. I waited a few more minutes and continued to be ignored so I grabbed up my stuff and left. I was not stopped or apologized too or told to have a nice day or anything just IGNORED!!!! After coming home I realized after seeing their picture in the Volcano that the lady that had snubbed me was an OWNER!!!!!! She is the one person that had the most invested in my happiness. Though in their defense one of the owners offered me a free breakfast on Facebook after I posted this review on their page, yet I do not think I will take them up on it.

This is my favorite little cafe in the Lakewood/Tacoma area. Its family-owned and always busy, centrally located within Lakewood Towne Center and right across the parking lot from Starbucks. The food is always delicious, the portions generous, the staff friendly, and the prices EXCELLENT. They serve fair-trade organic coffee with free refills, also, and have great milkshakes. Say hi to Kris (the cook and owner, usually in the kitchen in the back, but often comes out), or her daughter, Sam, whos a waitress and will get to know you if you come a couple of times. The atmosphere here is quaint and casual, with local artists featured on the walls and poems framed over by the bathrooms. Its really small but extremely friendly and completely worth visiting. Try the Monte Cristo sandwich with a salad (their greens are always very fresh and clean), or toast with their homemade raspberry jam, which they also sell in jars. Their hashbrowns are hand-cut and the best Ive ever had. Also choose from an awesome selection of burgers and sandwiches (I love the club on rye!), omelettes, pancakes, french toast, steel-cut oatmeal...They will accomodate whatever dietary needs you have and its really easy to make healthy choices here. Go visit Moonrise and keep them up and running...they deserve it and youll be glad to keep a place like this in the community!

Good food and good service. Not exceptional, but not bad. So, why the bad review? Apparently asking for substitutions on menu items triggers a huge price increase. This is not the only place Ive seen do this, especially when its busy. But the friend dining with me did not know that old trick, and asked for what was essentially a custom omelette. Two breakfasts, (Biscuits and gravy, and the aforementioned omelette, with coffee. Over forty dollars before the tip. And yes, I still tipped. The waitress doesnt set policy.) Im sure they treat regulars better, and the place was busy. My friend really liked his omelette (considering that they charged over $25 for it, it had better be good) and my breakfast was good, but not exceptional. The coffee was acceptable, but not great. Generally, when a place pulls that stunt, its a message that theyve got enough business, and dont need yours. Or in this case, mine. Which is fine. Im not in Lakewood that often, and there are lots of other places to eat.

Danger! You may end up stuffing yourself with the generous servings of delicious breakfast foods. This place is only open for breakfast and lunch, so go early if you can. There is sometimes a bit of a wait for a seat, since its not a large restaurant, and the seating can be pretty crowded at times. However, its absolutely worth it. If they have fresh baked cinnamon rolls, its your lucky day! One is big enough for two people to split, and theyre amazing - not overly sugary, but theyre served hot with a drizzle of sweet sauce. Their omelets are large, perfectly cooked and stuffed with fresh ingredients, and their sandwiches are also piled high with locally sourced deliciousness. The servings of hashbrowns are absolutely huge. Absolutely recommended for a delicious filling breakfast or early lunch!

An amazing find in Lakewood. First time diners and we loved it! Definitely our new favorite breakfast spot. Food was great, as advertised, fresh and light (not greasy or oily), delicious. Try the French toast or an enormous pancake! Staff were prompt, attentive, friendly, ready with fast refills. They are family and young kid friendly as well as a great place for people just grabbing breakfast on their own or with a friend. They were ready with a kids cup, crayons and books within a minute of us sitting down. We were in a bit of a time crunch but the staff were quick (without us saying anything about our schedule), food was fast and hot, and the check was taken care of within our time without anyone rushing or waiting. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

This is the wife and Is go to place for breakfast whenever we are in Lakewood. Very clean and well maintained. Friendliest most helpful staff of any eatery I have been to, you almost feel like friends or family with them. It is very homey and warm. They have these cute little notebooks with pens at every table so that you can leave reviews or messages for others to read when they come in. The coffee is always great and their blackberry lemonade is amazing. We have tried many of their menu options over the years and our mainstay is the biscuits and gravy with some of their blackberry jam for our toast. Their homemade jams are awesome and available for purchase to take home in jars.

This popular diner is newer looking, but old school in flavour and service. The waitresses here are outstanding - more young servers should watch the hustle of this staff and learn from it! Great food from top to bottom - egg dishes, pancakes, baked goods. Beautiful sandwiches and soups. You can make your meal healthier by taking advantage of their options. They also have a nice selection of healthier and veggie options. Coffee is free flowing and yummy. Watch out because its always CROWDED here. Grab a cup of coffee in the waiting area and anticipate your satisfying meal!

Discovered this little gem 10 years ago the month they opened. It was like, FINALLY, a healthy, hearty breakfast with choices to make your breakfast/lunch even more healthy if you swing that way. Fresh homemade quality food without the restaurant supply company taste that so many Lakewood establishments rely on. If its hard to get a table at peak hours, well that must tell you something about the quality, but we think its well worth the wait. Love the staff and service too. Its like having family serve you a home cooked meal!

Theyre open on Saturdays again! I loved this place, but because of my work schedule I rarely got to go. I was passing by this morning and much to my surprise I saw that they were open. Now my life is complete again. Absolutely incredible food, great prices, a staff that seems to actually care how youre doing. I cant recommend this place enough. As for the crowd. Dont worry, the staff moves things along swiftly so you wont wait long for a seat. Best Breakfast in the South Sound by a long shot.
