The old lady and I dropped by this place the other day hoping for a great Korean BBQ experience, both us being fans of the above mentioned cuisine. At the end we decided that wed never come there again. Let me list a few reasons why: - bad service. The waitress was impolite and impatient, the only words we heard out of her all night were "For two?" accompanied by her sour and irritated expression. Both of us felt very unwelcome in the joint. I understand that 90% of their customers are Korean, but it doesnt mean the rest of us have to be treated like dirt. Also, the service was extremely slow, with the side dishes brought in only about 15 minutes after the meat was ready for grilling. Also, nobody every stopped by to see if we were doing fine and needed anything. - Dirty, decrepit location. The grill we used for our meat was poorly cleaned and still had fat stains from the previous customers. Eating food cooked on top of that did not really add to the flavor. - Overpriced. The meat wasnt great at all and there wasnt much of it, the side dishes were not refilled the entire time. $60 for two for that kind of joint is pretty much a robbery. We will not be coming here again, and wed advise you to do the same.

Southgate Garden may be the best Korean restaurant on the Eastside. The current owners, who have operated for the last four years, have built a legion of loyal fans. They have had to win back many diners turned off by the previous sub-par operation. Im impressed by their service. The place was packed for lunch, and there was enough staff to handle the situation. They may not be all smiles and sunshine, but the were very efficient. Our tea cups were kept full, and this was the only place that refilled Ban Chan without asking. The Grilled Flounder was very good. The fish was large, fresh and deliciously seasoned, The skin crisply grilled and tasty. The flesh was wonderful, too. Yook Gae Jang, a spicy brisket, egg and noodle soup was perfect for a cold, rainy day. It was served in a cast iron pot to retain the heat throughout the meal, a very satisfying and hearty meal. It is very popular, so expect to wait during prime lunch and dinner times.

I have friend that lives near here and we go every weekend. He is new to korean food and is loving it. But his girlfriend and family of ferrets arent liking the aftereffects of the food when he gets home. Which is good sign the food is spiced how Koreans like it. Anyways, this a very good place to eat because a lot of Koreans of all ages eat here all the time. Which is a good sign. For the people who have had bad services especially with BBQ areas, there is a white button on the edge of the table. That is a buzzer to call your server like a flight attendant on a plane. This is common is Korea, not here in US. That is why many people have bad service, and the servers are thinking those customers are a dream. Also, you can call out or wave for service, not just the stern look on your face when you need a refill. Some of the best dishes require you bring a friend to share Hot Plate or BBQ.

Best Korean food Ive had in decades--the only place better might be in Koreatown in LA, CA. (I know Korean food well from 30+ years experience and this is one of the VERY few times Ive felt like tipping the cook too!) The mul naeng myon was absolute perfection; the kalbi was first rate and the soon tubu was terrific too. Prices a bit high but for this quality and freshness, plus a terrific taste that didnt come from adding any MSG, the price was well worth it. (The mul naeng myun was better than in most Korean restaurants in KOREA too; there they buy fresh but factory-made noodles daily. Here they freshly press out the buckwheat vermicelli noodles for each order; after cooking, these are chilled and served in iced bone-marrow broth!) If you love high-quality Korean food, you are in for a treat, just be warned that they are often VERY busy. Signed, I Yang-nom

My wife and I visited this place for lunch. While we are having our meals my wife found a bug in her soup. We complained of the bug however the manager or the owners daughter insisted that it was not a bug and half heartedly apologized then insisted that it came from my wifes clothes. Needless to say we did not finished our meals and left the restaurant. That same night my wife and I both got real sick with stomach pain with diarrhea. Next day we reported the restaurant to Washington Department of Health. I will never eat at this restaurant again because I can not trust the way they prepare their food and their poor service attitude.

This is the worst korean restaurant Ive been to. The service consisted of 4 words from our waitress: 2? BBQ? Bulgogi? Galbi? The waitress facial expression looked as if my dog took a dump on her feet the entire time. The quality of the food was okay except that it was way overpriced. We spent 50 bucks on a tiny plate of bulgogi and galbi. It wasnt enough for two people. Over the experience was just incredibly negative. That would be the first and last time I would go there. I strongly advise against anyone going there.

My friend and I found this by accident and decided it would be a great time for kbbq. It was in fact excellent. The serving sizes are large, my friend and I ordered combo 1 which was recommended for 2 people, and it was a lot of food because it came with so many wonderful sides, easily could have split it for 3 people instead. The tea that came with the meal was excellen as well. Also, the menu was easy to navigate, and the staff was attentive. Great place tucked a little out of the way.

Expected it to be similar to other KBBQ restaurants weve been to, but it was so terrible. The meat was thin, unflavored and a tiny portion for $50 for two people. The waiter was incredibly rude and literally waived us away when we asked for water. Dont waste your time or money here. Its worth the time to drive down to federal way to all you can eat KBBQ. Two hours later and the stomach pain is really setting in.

Great for groups, kids, and those who love interactive eating! Got the combo for multiple people and they bring a bunch of kimchi, meats, and veggies that you get to cook up right in the center of your table! Prices were great for the amount of food, and it seemed to be a local go to spot because of the crowd that was there.

Used to be really good but not anymore. They are cutting cost here and there and price keeps going up. Mostly, they are dishonest. They charged extra to my credit card than what I authorized. And I know the only way of doing this is adding extra tips. I am not going back to this place.

The food was good, service was good, and food came fast, although there was a long wait to get the table. The best dish was the kimchi stew, which had good flavor, and very filling. The kalbi short ribs was also good, but the seafood pancake was missing something.
