I have eaten here many times (over 25). Shamiana has many unusual dishes I do not find anywhere else (Pakistan influences?). It has a very reliable and predictable menu during lunch (in a good way). I typically do the lunch buffet and there are 8 main entree’s (including soup as one), 2-to-3 salads, and small mango mousse for desert. The staff is very friendly and you can almost always find an out-of-the-way table for private conversations if needed. It’s larger than it looks from the outside. The only drawback, if you can call it that, is that the menu is very predictable. If you visit more than 2-3 times you will have the menu down. Maybe 1 or 2 items will change out, but 90% of the items are almost always the same. It can get busy during lunch and the staff sometimes gets overworked. This is a common occurrence as well. All that said, I still keep coming back! If you are an East Indian food fan it’s as must try. The owners also do cooking classes on occasion as well. Overall a good experience and highly recommended.

Ok, so here is an "Indian" place, on the Eastside - no lack of actual Indians living and working in the area. However, there were no Indians (or Pakistanis, Afghanis, etc.) in the place (customers or staff), and that speaks volumes about the food here. Both chicken and beef dishes exceedingly dry and overcooked, the 2 chicken dishes on the buffet consisted of little pulverized bits of chicken dust, leftover from who knows when. Seriously, if you ever had a freeze-dried backpacking meal, the chicken is exactly like that. Absolutely no spice to any of the dishes, not even a little. The much-vaunted "Major Grey Chicken" was one of the dishes I tried, and yes, it consisted of microscopic flakes of chicken swimming in a disgustingly sweet, thick, gravy. Bottom line, if actual Indians avoid an "Indian" restaraunt, then so should you.

Seriously this restaurant is killing the name of India and diluting reputation of pure Indian delicacy. These guys dont know what they are serving and Curries were horrible. If youre looking for authentic Indian taste this place is not for you. @Owner, Please change the Menu or hire Indian origin chef. Shamiyana is just a name they are using from north India . No vegetables were cooked. They kept the name Pulav for just a yellow rice with salt and fried onions . Do they even know what does the Pulav recipe has? Pls google it and find recipe guys .. Pls dont spoil the famous Indian delicacies . They are over priced for everything . Come on

Overpriced American-style Indian food. Its not awful... But between the portions being WAY too small and the price being a gouging one, there are just SOOOO many places that are better. Namely Pabla Grill down in Tukwila or if you need somewhere closer by, go to Kanishka. (PS: You wouldnt trust a Chinese place run by people who arent Chinese and who dont regularly have Chinese customers.... There arent any Indians on this wait staff and I have yet to see an Indians inside the establishment as customers either.)

Foods okay. Avoid the vegetable samosas, and lassi though. And If you are looking for authentic Indian cuisine, you wont find it at Shamiana. Its definitely a fusion of Indian, Pakistani and Arabic/Afghani cuisine. Also its extremely overpriced for the quantity you are served. Id recommend Bengal Tiger or India Gate over Shamiana any day. However i do have to acknowledge the great ambiance and decor of the place. Its very inviting and a direct reflection of the fusion present in the menu.

WOW! Overpriced is the understatment. We just paid 53.00 for food that ok. When I saw the quantity 11.00 for about a cup of stewed tomatoes and eggplant...16.50 for 4 chucks of tandoori chicken breast with some rice...7.95 for 4 very small samosas that were un-eatable. If you want Indian food...go to Mayuri...very reasonable and excellent food...Youll probably take home leftovers.

I really like this place. Healthy and tasty. My recommendation is limited to lunch buffet. Its a little expensive but worth it in my opinion. Good salads and lower fat than other Indian buffets. Also I would consider this more modern Indian/Eastern fusion than traditional. And thats a good thing. A lot less deep fried, butter and cream.

I was here once, may not come back again. The dishes we tried were bland and no taste of Indian spices. Only thing good that day was the naan. Other than that the taste, portion size and high price were all contributing to the reason that Ill never come back here.

Delightful and delicious. Great, warm, welcoming service :) The carrot ginger and mulligatawny soups alone were reason to come back again and again. The buffet had plenty of choices for myself as a vegetarian. Very happy!!

I used to love this place about 10 years ago before I moved away from Seattle. I went back recently. The garlic naan is still awesome but the quality of the chicken wasnt great. Still worth a visit.

Dont expect the food to taste like every other Indian restaurant you have been to. This excellent cuisine tastes like a home cooked meal if you were actually in India, down to earth and wholesome.

One of my favourites. Only Indian in Kirkland are that I know. Also one of the most healthy Indian buffet Ive found on the E.side. Really appreciate that. But also a bit more pricey than most.

It feels more like Pakistani cuisine. We ordered Mix Veg. and Kabuli Chana which were both good. It was not crowded when we went and the waiter was quite good. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best Indian, well technically Pakistani, places on the Eastside. Their curries and pulao are at a level of quality most other places dont come close to.

Chicken did not taste very fresh, as if thawed after being frozen. Flavors were not fresh as well. Appreciated the ambiance and friendly service, however.

Food is good, if a bit pricey. Also not necessarily traditional Indian, but more of an Indian fusion.

Love the lamb curry. The chicken tika Masala is a bit bland.
