Food : Very Authentic South Indian and I can totally relate to the flavors back in India. Great food and taste. The cook really knows his stuff. I had ordered an Anjappar Meal and it had a variety of items. I tried every one of it and was just fabulous. The aroma is strong and the spice level is high. Do order a side of yogurt or a soda to go with the spicy food. Definitely worth going back for the food alone. Service : Very understaffed. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there was only 1 person waiting for 20 tables or so. I can imagine on a busy evening for dinner that a lot of people will be waiting for their order to be taken and served. This definitely can be improved. Ambience: Nice and Warm decoration. There is nothing striking regarding the ambience and theres nothing bad too. Seating is comfortable and there are plenty of tables. Areas that can be improved: Service: 1. Asking for drinks such as water, soda or anything on the menu once the customers arrive at their table. 2. Making note of when the last time the table was served and going back to ask regarding if everything is okay. 3. Clearing dishes from the table needs to be done more frequently. I have observed dishes can start racking up but no one around to clear it. 4. Bringing new silverware (or asking to replace them) and napkins. This is a great restaurant but ratings will suffer if the above points are not taken care of.

I have been to South Indian hotels in many cities across US but never tasted anything close to being authentic like this restaurant. I generally wait for three visit to give my review but anjappar is so good that I am writing this after 2 visits. The kothu parotha reminds me of the Chennai streets where I used to have it and its used to be my staple food. Natukodi biryani was fabulous. Without dosas the south Indian food is incomplete and dosas are perfect. The masala in the masala dosa could have been better but the quality of dosa is just awesome, crisp fresh and properly cooked. Few items I tried were even better than the velechery anjappar. I would definitely go back. Edit 1: Down voting 1 star. This place is not run by professionals anymore . Waiters are roaming around in trousers. Glasses are dirty. The waitress are rude. Takes around 50 mins to 1 hour to get one order. Nothing seems to organised or business ready. Feels like a family runs this place just kill time. Waiters doesnt have any clue what food item they are bringing to the table. Sad to see a good placed getting ruined like this.

(Jan 7th, 2016) I ordered 2 plates idlis for pick up and I was told that it would take 10 min. I showed up at the restaurant 15 min later and the food wasnt ready. After waiting for 15 more min, the food arrived and the cashier was extra-careful to tie the carry bag with 3 knots. To my shock when I came home, the idlis were cold (much cooler than room temperature)! They were not even fresh - refrigerated ones. Fresh, steam-cooked idlis never get that cold so quickly. The sambar and chutneys also tasted different. It actually felt like they bought the food from Spice Route or Udupi Cafe next door and then gave it to me! The cashier was in total denial when I called them about this. He tried to convince me that on the 10 min drive back home (in a totally warmed up car), the idlis (in closed styrofoam boxes) got cold! Even if I had kept the idlis out in the cold for 10 min, I dont think they wouldve gotten this cold! Shame on Anjappar! Ive enjoyed their food several times, but theyve lost their integrity with such a crappy act. And what audacity to deny everything and blame it on me!

Food is decent but would have been better if it had been served while still warm. Wait times are WAY, WAY, WAY too long. The place was nearly empty on a Sunday morning but still we waited at least 15 minutes before our order was taken. Then we waited another half hour before the starter came out. Another 15 minutes before one of the entrees arrived and another 20 before the other entree and our naan came out. What was supposed to be garlic naan contained no evidence to garlic and, like our entrees was served barely at room temp. Obviously everything we ordered had been left to stand in the window for quite some time. Other patrons "of color" were served much more promptly and out of order as compared to our arrival vs service times. In all our quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon turned into over an hour and a half. No doubt we were profiled. If youre not from India or Pakistan you will not be served fairly here. No tip, no return.

Went there last night for dinner. Pathetic service. The least you expect in restaurants is that thali orders will get served faster, because most of the components of Thalis are always prepared in advance and kept ready. Well, we ended up waiting 30 mins for the Thali, I guess we could have cooked faster at home itself. That wasnt the worst. While one person had ordered thali, rest of us ordered from the ala carte menu. Firstly, the person who tool our order did not come for 15 mins, and when he did, he messed up the order too, giving us a Corn Manchurian w/o gravy, when we asked for Chilly Baby Corn with gravy. And as of that wasnt bad enough, they forgot to get the stuffed roti, but promptly added it to the cheque. We are going to avoid this restaurant in the future for sure, and I suspect so will most of our friends.

I gave one star as there isnt an option to write a review without giving a star. I heard they serve good mutton and we thought of trying it out today. The experience was too bad. The chicken lollipop was too oily but still tasty so we had it. Fish varuval was too salty and we returned it which they replaced with fish 65 which didnt have salt at all. Mutton and chicken soups were more oil than soup and the explanation we got was South Indian dishes are oily. Above all the poor food they served, this restaurant is under staffed. We could see people loosing patience in all tables near by due to delay in serving food.. overall no going back to this place and no recommendations for this place.. May be its the area but I think they claim to serve good South Indian food but this isnt the real South Indian taste..

goodman always
My Honest Review: 1) First of all its not genuine chettinad taste in form of style-wise and taste-wise 2) Food taste is very very worst, it seems that they are using fast- food paste kind of stuff for preparing food, and never felt chettinad taste pertain to traditional spices 3) Any Biriyani tastes like tamarind rice 4) For any food, your stomach will bloat a lot ,so be careful 5) Utensils are not hygienic 6) Its not worth for money, Prices are heavy and too much for small portion of food which are tasteless, so think before going here 7) To-GO orders are not exact what we ordered for, totally mess 8) Staffs are very worst in services 9) Honestly I would give 0 star rating but there is no,so 1Star rating 10) Dont waste your valuable time here

I wanted to share my experience with them today, I ordered Egg and mutton biryani @9:30 PM, they took order and I collected the parcel in next 30 mins. When i opened the box at my home, I observed that they mixed some variety rice with vegetable additionally added two eggs. I really frustrated after seeing it, I didnt see such egg biriyani in my life with bringal, carrot and beans. It was already late so i would not go again to throw their food. I called them and inform about the food but they simply said sorry. They tried to make money by selling waste, I wanted to write this review as I paid much more for buying waste food from them. I personally advise you to take care before making order with them.
