Tl:dr - Save your money and go elsewhere. I am unsure if everyone here ate at the same place I did, but this restaurant was fair at best. To begin, all I have heard from locals is how great this place is and how they go here on dates and so on and so forth. The bar was set pretty high. I ordered the General Tsos Chicken...a staple of any Chinese restaurant. They did not have a combination platter of this so I paid extra for fried rice and an egg roll. I was also asked what kind of heat level I wanted my food.... from mild to hot. I ordered hot, because I like my food spicy. The egg roll came out first. This is the first time Ive had it served as an appetizer, but I was hungry and it turned out to be delicious. So far, so good! Then...the main meal arrived. I was very excited and prepared for a delicious meal! An empty plate was placed in front of me, then a platter placed beside that. A platter full of ... vegetables?? Thinking I was given the wrong meal, I questioned the waitress, (whom was very polite and a very good waitress btw) but she confirmed that it was, indeed, what I ordered. Imagine my disappointment when I spooned a bunch of veggies and a few pieces of chicken onto my plate. It looked like something you would buy at a grocery store from the freezer section and reheat at home. Surely the taste would make up for appearance and lack of chicken, right? Wrong! It tasted exactly how it looked. It was the sweetest sauce Ive ever had on General Tsos, and even though I ordered hot, there was not even a tiny bit of heat! (The fried rice was completely tasteless as well.) So, I slogged through eating it and begrudgingly paid the $11.40 bill for something I could have made at home for a quarter of the price. Save your money... go elsewhere!

On a return trip passing through Wytheville, VA the week of Dec. 28th, 2008 my family and I stopped at Peking Chinese Restaurant largely based on the reviews found on Google. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates high quality Cantonese, Szechaun, Hunan Chinese cuisine. We started with Wonton, Hot and Sour soup and spring rolls. The Hot and Sour soup was acceptable although it seemed to be missing traditional wood ear mushrooms. The Wonton soup had a large amount of shredded cabbage along with two dumplings which to be frank were simply disgusting. The spring rolls were overdone and filled with mostly shredded cabbage and little else. We ordered from the lunch menu, the only menu presented to us which consists of preset lunch items, and had shrimp with lobster sauce, sesame chicken and Szechaun scallops. The scallops were bathed in a brown tasteless brown gravy and the chicken was deep-fried and placed in a sickly sweet sauce and the shrimp with lobster sauce consisted of three, maybe four, shrimp in a gelatinous matix of egg whites, snow pea pods and frozen peas and carrots. The "fried rice" appeared to consist of white rice dipped in soy sauce mixed with frozen peas and carrots. We were placed into a corner booth with a table that left uncomfortably little space on either side for diners where the seat back was flexible enough to allow other diners to continually push my spouse into the table edge on a constant basis (always good for digestion). The one positive note was that the young server was friendly and attentative. The bottom line is that neither I nor anyone else in my family would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has any knowledge of Chinese cuisine.

The food tasted like it came from a can; it was so bland & disgusting. The waitress was rude from the moment she came to our table to take our order. The waitress did not smile, she did not greet us & she picked up our menu & slammed it down on the table after we gave her our order. We noticed that she did not behave this way with the other tables she was waiting on, but we also noticed that the other diners appeared to be locals. When she delivered our appetizer she purposefully knocked over my beverage onto my husband. She did not apologize for dumping the drink on him & we were required to clean up the spill by ourselves. She was very upset when we requested more napkins & a towel to help dry off my husband. Unfortunately, she took about 15 minutes to retrieve a towel & napkins so there was no hope in drying his pants. Not only did she not apologize, management did not apologize either. I did not receive a replacement for my spilt drink until I was done with my meal; not that I ate much of it anyway. She did not offer to comp a meal or anything. The positive note is the decor was beautiful & the hostess was friendly when she seated us.

THE DECOR IS LOVELY AND FITS WITH THE TYPE OF FOOD SERVED WHICH IS CHINESE CUISINE. THEY HAVE AN ALL YOU CAN EAT LUNCH BUFFET EVERY SUNDAY WHICH FEATURES A WONDERFUL SELECTION OF THEIR BEST DISHES INCLUDING SEAFOOD. THEY HAVE TABLE SERVICE WITH FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF AND THE OWNERS ARE ALWAYS PRESENT TO GREET YOU AS YOU ARRIVE AND THANK YOU AS YOU LEAVE ALWAYS ASKING IF YOUR DINING EXPERIENCE WAS ENJOYABLE. THEY DO SERVE A NICE SELECTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES INCLUDING BEER BOTH AMERICAN AND ASIAN, PLUM WINE, SAKI AND A VARIETY OF MIXED DRINKS. THEY ALSO OF COURSE SERVE BOTH COLD AND HOT TEAS. I HAVE EATEN IN CHINESE RESTAURANTS FROM THE EAST COAST TO THE WEST, FROM THE NORTHERN STATES TO FLORIDA AND HAVE YET TO FIND ONE THAT SERVES BETTER FOOD. FROM THEIR APPETIZERS AND SOUPS TO THEIR ENTREES THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST IVE HAD. IF YOURE EVER NEAR WYTHEVILLE, VIRGINIA ITS WELL WORTH THE TIME. TRY IT AND YOULL AGREE...

This is not Peking Restaurant. This is Puking Restaurant. This is a place for people born and living in a city with 0 Chinese population and do not have a clue as to what a decent chinese food should be. I dont even think Panda Express as a decent Chinese restaurant but today I consider Panda Express to be a 5 star Chinese restaurant after eating at this place. I truly feel sorry for all those dining here. Dont be fooled by the cars parked outside. Please help these people by NOT eating here so that this restaurant can do the right thing by closing soon.

Do you like fresh-tasting Chinese without the buffet-bloat afterwards? This place is perfect. The food tastes great and you get an ample portion so you dont feel cheated. The atmosphere is relaxed and definitely Chinese. I prefer the Kung Pao chicken which is sufficiently spicy. The egg rolls are always served fresh, hot, and crisp. If youre used to egg rolls off the typical Chinese buffet, be prepared for a treat!! If there is one thing they could work on, it would be the wait staff. But even that doesnt keep me from going back when in the area.

I have eaten here twice. The first time was a couple years ago, General Tso Chicken. It was not extraordinary and I remember that it was not that good. I chose the restaurant on the numerous good reviews. Tonight, on good reviews, I tried the sesame chicken. If I might describe it in one word Yuck! It was nasty-sweet.... sweeter than any Chinese meal that I can recall ever as having tasted. I would not want to return here, again. The good reviews are suspicious to me.
