This review is for the Newport News Location. My husband and I came here for the first time tonight because this place has been recommended to us several times and lets just say itll be the last time we ever come here. When we got there we were seated pretty quickly and given chips and salsa, we waited 10 minutes for someone to even come to our table and get our drink order mind you the restaurant wasnt even really busy. Finally the manager walked up to our table because he noticed me looking around for a server as soon as the manager left our table with our drinker order our server finally showed up. After we got our drinks we ordered our food and didnt see our server ever again until we were eating our food and asked if everything was good. Both of our drinks were empty and he never filled them up he was also never around for us to flag him down to get another refill. On top of that we had these group of friends sitting behind us who were obviously all friends with the manager, he was always by their table talking to them in Spanish and they also had two little kids with them who they werent paying very much attention to because they were all drinking, the two kids were running around the bar screaming and laughing until finally they got up and told their kids to stop running around and sat them at their table. My husband and I have children of our own and we would NEVER let our children act like that even if we were out with a group of friends. After my husband and I were done eating we waited a good 25 minutes before our server even showed up at our table again only because the manager came by and asked if we needed anything and my husband requested the check which the manager followed that up by asking "tequila?" We said no the check. We paid and left. Seriously this was the worst service my husband and I have ever had. All I have left to say is we will never return and we will continue to keep our business at Plaza Azteca.

Cant say much about this place because I only been here once and Mexican food I havent tried that often. Went here with coworkers and all I can say is that its a decent place to eat. Go with party people if you want to have a good time because the music in their is on blast, so DO NOT expect a peaceful lunch or dinner. I cant say much to try besides the Steak Ranchero and they werent that bad really. But, if I had to say something about my dish, I expect steak to be, oh... thicker? My steak was so thin compared to like what you might expect a steak to be; big, juicy, and tender. Had a Mango Margarita to go along with my Steak Ranchero and it was delicious! Their complimentary chips and dip is also really, really good. Can never have enough of the chips and dips. Just be careful because you can actually get full off of it! If youre down to having a good time with a group of crazy friends, then I recommend coming here, but when it comes to bringing that special someone youre trying to impress, might want to head somewhere else.

Went here once with my coworkers it was awesome. Service was great. Reserved a table for 30 for today. Asked for it to be at 730 and was told we needed to come earlier due to a 45 person party. We changed our plans and showed up at 6. We informed them it is less people and still had to wait. The hostess ISABELLE was absolutely unprofessional and rude. We decided to go some where else after waiting 45 mins for a table of less than what was already reserved. We watched this hostess be professional to others entering but be rude and short with my family. With a smart responsive grin she thanked me for leaving. I wont ever go back here. It took a lot not to be rude back to her but she wasnt worth it. A party of 12 just took their business to another location.

My fiance and I where here for dinner on a Saturday. We were enjoying our drinks at the bar with a few more guest on each side. The bar was pretty much full. All of a sudden someone came up beside us to tell us to move down. When I looked up he was making everyone at the bar move down. The bartender told us not to move if we did not want to move, that it was not necessary. The man pressisted, turns out he was the manager. So he moved us all down, to accomidate other people arriving, it was like 6 or 7 people at the bar. We were a little irritated, beacause we ended up not facing the game we were watching. The bartenders (guy and a girl) apologized for the inconviniece, and gave us some complimentary house shots. They were great!

food served on a plate full of grease it made everything soggy Im lucky I didnt have a heart attack. Also has a sign that said free tacos tomorrow and went the day it was supposed to be free the server had no idea what we were talking about and says no thats just a sign. no way lady I thought it was a tv. they have it there to lure people in the only thing good was the mixes drink. the cool needs to be fired pizza hut doesnt even have this much grease thats ridiculous. Also the server needs to learn more english and speak up. I know its a Mexican restaurant and its supposed to be a Mexican staff and Im fine with that I love the culture of Mexico but come on..... ur a server.

My girlfriend and I went in on a Sunday afternoon. We have been wanting to try this place out. It used to be a Texas Steakhouse, but has recently reopened as a Mexican restaurant and bar. We were seated immediately. The chips, salsa and white sauce were great! So good that I took some of the salsa home in a to go cup. I ordered a machaca burrito and she had the chicken fajitas. The food arrived quickly and was DELICIOUS! There were flat screen TVs on the walls with ESPN on. It looks like it could be a great place to watch sporting events. We will be going back.

My wife and I love this place! My wife is from San Diego and is used to authentic Mexican food. Hampton Roads has very few authentic, delicious Mexican restaurants, but this is one of them. The food is as good as my wife would make at home using her familys Mexican recipes, and they have many things we cannot easily make at home. When my wife comes home from work with a frown on her face I take her here and the frown turns immediately upside down as the true flavors burst over our pallet. I hope this place becomes a neighborhood fixture and its parking lot stays full always.

Reasonably good food but stale chips and below average service marred the experience. The pollo fundido itself was quite good but the guacamole appetizer was pretty thoroughly ruined by the terrible tortilla chips. Hoping it was just a bad bucket we asked that it be swapped but got back a slightly warmer version of the same. The waiter appeared to be purposely inattentive, several times looking directly at me while I was attempting to wave him down, only to immediately turn away. Overall an "average at best" experience, there are better Mexican style restaurants in town.
