Service was very slow. My friends and I waited 30 minutes for a table and although there were tables constantly opening up, we werent seated for half an hour. 20 of those waiting minutes were spent waiting for them to pencil us in for a table. When we finally did get to the table, we ordered after looking through the menu (most items were unappetizing) and waited for 40 minutes before the food came out. Waitresses were looking around with my order trying to find the customer that ordered it. When the food came out, I was sorely disappointed. As a fan of dim sum, the food was greasy and tasted awful. Maybe it was because I ordered it at night instead of for brunch or breakfast, but the food was rather bland, covered in grease and had strange textures. I didnt eat about half of the dishes I ordered (after spitting them back out). I wont lie, I was honestly shocked at how bad it was. Its the only dim sum place around according to Google Maps and Im new to the area so I decided to check it out. Judging by the quality of food for how long we waited to actually eat it, I can safely say I will never come back. Actually, even if we were seated immediately and the food came out quickly and the service was spotless, the quality of the food prevents me from coming back here to give myself food poisoning. Looking through the other reviews, I am baffled by the amount of 4 and 5 stars given out. Do people just have really low standards for Chinese food or something? The restaurant is run down, with chips of paint on the carpet by the walls. The atmosphere is terrible. The food is awful. No one is at the front desk to put your name down when waiting for a table. Now, I dont exactly have high standards for food and it doesnt take a lot to impress me, but it certainly takes a lot to make me write a review like this. I only ordered the dim sum dishes so I do not know how the non-dim sum dishes are but looking at the other tables, their food looked as unappetizing and disgusting as ours. How they are still in business should be featured in a mystery show.

Ignore the decor and youll be able to truly enjoy this place. Better yet, close your eyes and picture yourself in the kitchen of your Chinese grandmother as you take your first bite of dim sum. Youll be hooked after that. Ive been several times since I found out about this place last month. Ive dined in, taken out, ordered from the menu, and gotten things right off the dim sum cart as it rolled by. Each time it was delicious. I recommend the shu mai (forgive me if thats spelled wrong), leek dumplings, and shrimp dumplings. These are the things I keep returning to even though other selections were very tasty. Ive found the service friendly and helpful, the food memorable, and the over all value acceptable for what little you pay for such delectable dishes otherwise unavailable in Hampton Roads. Dont know what you want? Ask the owner or any of the servers. They are all helpful. Ill be back often. Half of the patrons are Chinese. That has to tell you something about the authenticity and quality of the food here.

Stopped here on the way to Outer Banks around 12:30pm on the Saturday before Memorial Day. Im American Cantonese, and Im used to traditional dim sum in New Yorks Chinatown. I was skeptical of this places quality from the appearance of the store front, but I was delighted to see authentic food carts and settings. Bo-lei tea was hot and flavorful; food came quickly and was both plentiful in choice (although basic) and acceptably prepared. Short ribs, shrimp dumplings, fu-pay-bao were good. The fried taro shrimp patty was wonderfully crispy, but sort of bland. Gai-lan was fresh, tender and oyster sauce on the side. The waitstaff was brusque but efficient, which is standard for a chinese restaurant. Everybody spoke English, quite a few spoke Cantonese. The downside: the single dingy bathroom, and the place could use a makeover. If you pay attention to the food and not the walls, its a pretty good place for Saturday dim sum.

I hate to be that douche that writes a negative review.. but I have to look out for the homies. Aside from the service, this place hands down has the worst Chinese food Ive ever had. Not exaggerating. I had sesame chicken and pork fried rice, and the other 2 who were with me had that happy family special, and the chicken broccoli. All 3 were disappointed in the quality of the food. Not only was the food a disappointment, but the prices were higher than any other Chinese restaurant Ive ever gone to. For those of you who think Im being negative for no reason and choose to give it a shot, go ahead... when youre sitting in there and find yourself disappointed... remind yourself to next time pay attention to the reviews that pertain to food. Ps. The fortune cookie was even stale.

Food Ive eaten in a very long time! Looked up the reviews and decided to go to this place when I was visiting Virginia Beach and thank God I did that it was the best decision I made. We ordered two dishes - Chicken Fried Rice and Szechuan Shrimp. Boath dishes were great. We had to ask for hot sauce though to suit our pallette. My girlfriend to tried to be adventurous and ordered some chicken noodle soup. I liked it but she wanted to and did return it and get chicken drop soup which was fantastic. The waiter without hesitation changed it for us. The service was good and the staff courteous. Its authentic chinese (which I love), so be careful when you try new dishes.

Jade Villa has the absolute best Chinese food in the area hands-down!! No other Chinese food place can compare! When it comes to quality, taste, portion size, service, etc... they have everyone beat!! A group of friends took me here one night! I am forever grateful! Ever since then, I literally will not eat Chinese food anywhere else! There is no comparison! They have real fried rice that actually has bits of pieces of egg in it. Its always fresh. They obviously use way better ingredients then any other place! Ive had Chinese food all over the US and I am totally serious when I say this place IS THE BEST!!

I will admit this place does have some good food however there are plenty of things wrong that make you want to stay away the place is filthy the tables are encrusted with gunk the chairs are ripped the carpet looks dirty the walls have dirt smudges on them the ceiling tiles are showing evidence of roof leaks and water dripping from the ceiling there is also some issues with cleanliness in the bathrooms I wont describe here. Im not trying to be mean I just placed a premium on cleanliness in a restaurant setting and I wonder what the kitchen looks like if the dining room is this dirty.

The food is mediocre and service is really not all that good. Weve ordered for pick up a few times, and last weekend was our first time actually going there. The waitress barely spoke English, I get it, its a Chinese restaurant, but she couldnt even speak enough to take our order. It took more than a hour and 10 minutes to get our food, during which we saw many people come and go. After asking for the status of our food, we were told that they "forgot to make it." We probably wont return, I can order Chinese delivery for a third of the price and it will be twice as good
