Arrived at 9pm. Seated immediately. Took almost 10 minutes for my server, Eric, to take my drink order of sweet tea no lemon. I also advised I was ready to order and that my sister was not coming. While I was telling.him my drink order he notices a "regular" and begins talking to him and letting him know he needed to clear his regular table. Which by the way He never clears, another person cleared it. He comes back and gives the man my tea and never comes back to me. At 920 I notice him taking the order of a party of 4 or 5 that arrived after I did. He left them and disappeared. The next thing I see him coming out of the kitchen door opposite of the restrooms and goes in the kitchen. He appears with a bowl of soup for this "regular" and I have not even got my tea yet much less placed my order. I left and requested to speak to a manager and stated my situation. She took my name and number and is suppose to have a general manager call me. We will see. Problem is I have had him as a server before and he was so slow and distracted by other guests but I chalked that up to maybe shorthanded. I will not be coming back to the Ihop at Kempsriver again. They need to clear house in tjis lication, svrub it down and hire a new staff. The msnagers need to be on the floor nit locked in an office.

When me and my girlfriend most recently ate here there was a huge problem. Not with food, not with service but with one off the clock server and the manager on duty, James. We eat there very often, so we were shocked and disgusted when what took place occurred. There was a mentally challenged person in the store that often walked outside then back to his table in about ten minute intervals. One server, whom was off the clock yet still in uniform repeatedly made fun of this gentleman and when I brought it to the attention of the manager in duty, James, whom was already cussing at the register, he got an attitude with me and proceeded to tell me " I didnt know the full story, and didnt understand." He then threatened to call the law on me and kicked me out from his store. Coming from a managers point of view and from someone who had a brother with severe mental disabilities, this is unacceptable. We will NEVER eat there again, and will advise our friends and families to do likewise.

I drive past several IHops to enjoy my favorite special made to order omelette. The staff is amazingly friendly, they know your name and your order, waiting time is faster than anywhere I have dined, yet maintaining superb quality. The place is spotless and everyone seems to love their job and you leave feeling as if you your patronage was truly appreciated! No doubt, kudos have to go to management for training and developing a good work environment for his staff. I would expect this from a 5-Star restaurant. Astonishingly amazed and IMPRESSED! Never thought I would be considering a restaurant as one of my Happy Places!! Ronald Barnett is the General Manager who influences the ultimate experience in dinning I am just overwhelmingly PLEASED! Merry Christmas to all and do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the BEST ...go to this IHop!! :-)

A "VBPD officer, after a long 12 hour night shift walked into the IHOP located at Fordham Drive in Virginia Beach. He was in full uniform. While waiting to be seated the Manager/Hostess told him "We dont serve your kind" he simply walked out. This is also a 20 year retired Navy Seal who served his country then joined the Police Department to serve his community. Risking his life day in and day out for his family and our families. May I also point out he would be the first person they call if someone walked out on a check. I am disgusted and will never give them my business again. I ask my friends and family who support our Police and Veterans to make this go Viral and share the hell out of this and no longer give that IHOP your business! Please!"

In response to Andy Patriot, first off I am a huge supporter of our military and Police department. I have family and friends in both. I also know the owners of this IHOP and know for a fact they are as well HUGE supporters of the police. While I am not disputing the fact a joke was made, and it was definitely inappropriate, I dont believe boycotting this family owned business is the answer. A rouge employees comments can be dealt with in a more appropriate manner, than slandering a business. Especially a business that is very pro-police. Again, even though this doesnt personally involve me, I am sorry for the comments made, and hope the officer involved can sit down and talk with the owners of this IHOP and bring this to a close.

I heard about the VBPD Officer being refused service @ this location last week and I think that the people that work there should be ashamed of them selves for doing that. I have eaten there many times along with my Father and other family members, I must say that there are so many other places to eat at in this town that I believe that is a very wrong policy. I will choose one of the other establishments in the area from now on to eat and I will never cross your threshold again along with my family and all my friends. PS. If you have any problems in there you shouldnt bother calling the Police, Im sure that they have all been informed about this incident...

Im really disappointed . management tried to kiss ass when was about to leave. Should be fired....

Come here regularly with my two siblings and never had a problem here. I dont know if the waiters or waitress hates their job here or not, but they sure know how to put up a good front with their smiles and good customer service. I have no complaint of their food and their customer service. I mean, its IHOP and you pay for what you get, right? So far, best IHOP I ever went to in Virginia Beach.

Unbelievably rude. After we paid our bill the security woman chased us out of the restaurant rudely asking us if we were leaving without paying our bill. She spoke incredibly nasty to us as my husband politely assured her that our bill had been paid. Ihop, hire classier people who dont chase your patrons away.
