Im really sort of torn in my review. What my companion ordered was told to be magnificent as did our neighboring tables entrees.. Mine however.. not even close! Looking for something fast fresh and simple... I ordered 1/2 lbd. steamed shrimp. What came to the table was about a dollar per shrimp and looked tasty.. but in the first bite I found that this might not be so good. My shrimp was undercooked, much worse than raw since the heat brings out the bacteria yet it wasnt cooked enough to have been "safe". I sent it back into the kitchen.. again, it came out not only STILL undercooked and plated differently, but this time in taking a bite, my nose caught whiff of the most ungodly smell of ROTTEN...I couldnt believe it. Immediately I dropped the shrimp, and smelled my hands. Yeap there was no doubt that this was something I shouldnt be smelling at dinner much less in a restaurant table. Im not sure which one it was or Id have taken a picture. They were so spiced with old bay that I couldnt have rightly pinpointed one out for sure, although I had my suspicions onone in particular. When I took the plate back, nothing was said or compensated other than she would remove it from the bill.. Nevermind that we had asked for small fries twice and in sitting and watching everyone else eat I finally asked if the fries were almost ready.. They were never ordered as she assumed the stance of uncertainty in whether we were actually wanting them when requesting the order!!! Yeeea, okay. This morning I am thinking to cll the Manager as I havent heard anything but good things about the food. Our order was 45 minutes in for broiled blackend fish, salad, potatoes which are usually either kept in a warmer or microwaved. And a salad.. Meanwhile how difficult is it to cook SHRIMP? In memory now, I had noticed she was pushing for the fried shrimp when I ordered so perhaps next time I go out somewhere I may take the recommendation.. then again, would I have been eating spoiled fried shrimp and not have noticed immediately?!

My girlfriend and I were at the beach over New Years and were in the mood for seafood. Not fancy seafood, but seafood where most of the items from the sea and their sides are fried. Beach Pubs menu was in the lobby of our hotel and we decided to give them a try after visiting their website. She ordered the Fish & Chips with Potato salad and I ordered the Fried Croaker (I think) with beets and coleslaw. They were stingy with the hush puppies. Only two came with our meals. They were good, but maybe they wouldve tasted better if wed had more of them. The fish in both of our meals was very tasty. I was happy for that. The sides and sauces however were disgusting. The tartar sauce was mayonnaise, the potato salad was mayonnaise with potatoes. The beets were from can to plate and the coleslaw was mayonnaise with cabbage. It was very, very disappointing. The prices didnt break the wallet, but the prices were cheap. We read some reviews and expected so much more. Maybe it was a bad night, but I doubt we will go back to find out. In the south a fried fish meal is about the quality of the sides as much as it is about the fish.

We moved to Virginia Beach last September and have frequented The Beach Pub many, many times. We have always experienced good value for the price of food. Be sure to ask for their special of the day menu and youll receive outstanding food for the best price youll find at the beach. We have eaten there many times on Sunday night for their all you can eat fresh flounder dinner with 2 sides for 10.95, although they NEVER have broccoli on Sunday night, for some reason. Steamed broccoli with hollandaise sauce is served in many restaurants here and is usually wonderful. Recently during soft shell crab season, we enjoyed a soft shell for breakfast!! What a treat. Waffles are ok, at best. Go with what is locally fresh in season and youll leave happy.

Service was slow. I ordered the she crab soup and it didnt taste like anything more than milk. My daughter ordered chicken tenders for dinner and they were dry and leathery. I ordered a burger and had to send it back twice because it was so under cooked. We were there for an hour and a half and I finally asked the waitress to just take my burger off the bill (which she did without question. She agreed my burger was underdone. She was nice- just a rare sight at our table. We had to ask for her to be sent to our table twice.) This was my second visit here. My first was three years ago. I was excited to find a place on Triple D. My experience then was just about the same. Nothing has changed in three years. Dont bother.

A great family place, great prices and great food. They have all you can eat flounder on Sundays. If youre looking seafood from a place where the locals eat it...go to the Beach Pub. The wait staff is friendly and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. They also have tons of other things on the menu and different specials every night. One of my favorites is the 5 pounds of hot wings on Thursday night. The breakfasts are outstanding too. I think they are the best breakfast restaurant in the area. Be sure to try the spicy clam fritters. If youre lucky enough to be there for lunch on Saturday, the Philly cheesesteak is the best that Ive ever had!

Our appetizers were great. (Oysters Rockefeller & clams on the half shell) They were very fresh and flavorful. We ordered Fried Flounder and the chicken livers. Sorry to say, but, the flounder was overcooked, flavorless, and very dry with too many bones. The chicken livers were also over cooked and dry with very little flavor and way too much breading. Our server was very polite when she visited our table however she had many other tables in sections that were on the other side of the restaurant.

10oz draft beers, worst fish and chips ever, I dont know how you could fry something and come out rubbery! left a bad taste in my mouth. Chipotle chicken spring rolls were great. wife had the chicken quesadilla, it was huge and very good, but only had chicken and cheese, could have definitely used some peppers and onions. also the very item that was featured on DDD, fish hash, was scratched off the menu. Overall, I would not return or recommend

Went on 2/23/2014 had to be the worst food and terrible service. Example of food had the black and blue burger and it was raw. I mean Moo raw. I thought that a cook would check temperature or test feel of meat. Service was very bad had to go get some food because of no waitress comeing to help us. I would never go again. It use to be a good neighbor pub in the past and I hadnt been there for years.

It is the greatest local exp. Where family works and food is to fight over. The crotchety old man at the table next to you will befriend your children and you always compare it to the last time you were there! The Bikers wear smiles and the gangs have handicaps! Hope the tourist never find this hidden oasis. This comment does not deem a discount just to be recognized by our favorite waitresses/ owner!
