Service was great throughout the meal with prompt service and standard wait times for food. Server was very friendly. Unfortunately for the price theyre asking for I found the food to be subpar. My party ordered 2 appetizers and one came old cold and the other came out overcooked. I ordered a pizza as my main course which was very very spicy and as other costumers have mentioned the spice wasnt mentioned on the menu. Only one item was labeled as "very spicy" and considering my order I dread to think how spicy that might be. The crust was also inconsistent and over all disappointing. The menu warns that the pizza crust might be more charred or blistered than others due to the heat of their ovens but in reality the crust came out unable to support its own wait for a generally disappointing pizza. The rest of my party enjoyed their food but agreed that the asking price was high for what they received, I do not feel the desire to return soon but likely will in the future.

First time here and not disappointed! The lighting was moderate...bright in some areas..dimmer in others. They have a bar in front if the woodfire pizza area which is pretty neat. The var for drinks seemed spacious. In the dining area they jave larvw booths and tables for 4. Tried the crab + avo flatbread. Was different than i expected but delicous. The crab and avocado are fresh, and you can taste it. Service was outstanding. The hostess greeted and seated right away. The server was polite and tentative through our 1.5 hour visit. I do olan on coming back and enjoying an entrée. But fo be aware they are slightly pricey, but expected for the area it is in.

Ordered a Bistro burger to go at the bar. Wait time and food were acceptable but when I paid for a $15 and change order with a twenty and a one dollar bill, the bartender put both bills in the till and walked away. I might be able to afford a 33% tip for service that consisted of nothing more than taking my order, entering it into a POS then handing it to me when it was ready (though I was at the bar I had nothing to drink), but to presume I intended to tip all of the $5+ change is poor service. Nothing there, especially the service, makes me want to visit again or recommend it to anyone.

I was a little disappointed in the menu not having a protein alternate for vegetarians but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the kale ceaser salad was with the addition of pesto. The soup was decent and my husband loved his meatball sandwich that he ordered, finished the whole plate. The atmosphere was very spacious and clean yet they were slow to clean tables and tried to sit us at a table in the middle of the room instead, upon request we sat at a booth and waited for it to be cleaned. Our server was super friendly and eager to please.

Good food and service to boot. Food was flavorful and brought to the table hot out of the brick oven. I had an Italian grinder that was delicious, especially the side of pesto and a small salad. The pesto was impressive, very well balanced in flavor. The others in the parry had a split half and half pizza and six sliders. They have a kids menu as well and the portions are quite large for them, so youll be taking some home. We had a good time and plan to go back!

This was our first time here. The atmosphere, staff and decor were warm. Our waitress was attentative and knowledgeable about the menu. My son had chicken and waffles. I had the seared salmon salad and our friend had a delicious fettuccine dish with whipped ricotta with a walnut sauce. We all enjoyed our dishes. We will definitely be back.

I have eaten at the D.C. Location and was excited to try the Short Pump location. 53.00 for lunch for 3....pricey....I wish I could say it was worth it. I really want it to be. There is no lunch menu, none. 14.00 for pizza and 17.00 for pasta, at lunch...no thank you. Service was exceptional, just too pricey, better options out there.

10/28 update: became ill after eating here. Vomiting and upset stomach for HOURS. Three out of four of my dinner guests had similar symptoms. Not eating here again. 10/27 review: Meh. Nice servers but.... ...watery quest dip ...poorly seasoned calamari ...salty crab soup Doubted Id ever come here again for food.

This is my first time here. The burger I had was delicious. I asked for well done which was excellent. Most burgers I get well done are hard and dry. Match box has exceeded my expectations. Our server "Rachel" was excellent. She was very patient, attentive and poliet. I will come back to Match box again.

So this is Short Pump, and its not a cheap place to get a good meal. However, this place struck me as a bit more expensive than its worth. Ill probably return, a lot, but Ill complain about the price. Service was great, I liked the atmosphere. I think most people will enjoy this place.

Went to Matchbox early evening during Happy Hour. The food was ok. The food was fresh but the spicing was rather underwhelming. The onion straws were delicious. The personnel were friendly. Decor is farmer-industrial chic. Given the price, I expected a little more.

I had the 1/2 crispy chicken!!! Being somewhat of a country girl, I am hard on anything labeled "crispy" but to my surprise, the chicken was the best "crispy" chicken Ive had in a while. It was well seasoned, succulent, and just down right good!!!! Ill be back!

Great service, there was a small bobble on our, handled quickly and replaced. Fire baked pizzas were excellent as was the chicken Alfredo. Atmosphere was energized without being deafening. Definitely recommend and return. Family friendly and reasonable prices

Decent service, warm atmosphere. The menu and ingredients are overly complicated and over priced for the quality of the pizza, dessert, and other American dishes. I dont recommend bringing kiddos here, the menu isnt really accommodating for simple tastes.

Awesomely poor service before even walking through the door. Called to make a reservation only to be told no reservations were accepted, only call ahead. Called as requested only to be told that all places for party of our size were RESERVED. Nice.

The food was not worth the price. For $25 for an entrée and $18 for a sandwich and fries, you would expect amazing - you get "ok". We could have spent our $100 on a great meal somewhere else. Wont be going back.

Went for happy hour and nothing special. Pretty loud during happy hour. Guacamole was good, but calamari and other apps were your average plates. Service was mostly good as well. May change when I go for dinner.

Such a great place to socialize, drink great wine, great craft beer and awesome pizza. The menu is great, and the environment is dynamic. You can have an intimate dinner, or you can hangout with friends.

The best thing about this restaurant is the cool interior. Otherwise its mostly a pizza chain with an air of pretentiousness. There are MUCH better local pizza shops in RVA that would appreciate your patronage.
