The food and service here was just short of mediocre. The black bean burger was unseasoned and dry as well as the velvet burger lacking flavor and not cooked how we specified. After asking for the professor (black bean burger) without jalapeños, I received the burger with EXTRA jalapeños. Ive had better food from McDonalds that cost half the price SSS does, and I actually recommend you go there instead of SSS. The attitudes of the staff was just as bad, maybe worse as the food was. The staff was grumpy and lacked a smile, I understand one person may have had a bad day, but that doesnt justify the entire staff having a sour attitude. Overall the experience, staff, venue, and food lacked flavor :(

This is a lovely sandwich shop and so much more. I had a great drink special for happy hour with a custom cocktail for only $5 and I believe their happy hour is 4-6 daily. As a vegetarian sandwich wise there were two choices so o went with the fried eggplant sandwich, I think the Eisenhower it was called.. not 100% on the name so just look at the ingredients which are listed on the menu. The sandwich was delightful fried to perfection and had a little bit of kick. I upgraded to the pimento cheese fries which were also phenomenal. All around great place.

Great place for sandwiches/burgers!! The pimento cheese fries are outrageously good (especially if you order some for the table and eat the remaining cheese with the fries that you upgrade to with your sandwich. Their homemade pickles and ketchup is delicious and tastes SUPER fresh --- you can taste the cucumber in your pickle, and its fantastic. We just went for the first time on Saturday, and are already planning on heading back at some point! Plus they have spacious booth seating (with the cushiest pillows ever), great service, and great ambiance!

I really enjoyed the food here. Everything I tasted you could tell was fresh and made of quality ingredients. The reason this is not a 5 star review is because of what I thought was an absurd charge on the whiskey I ordered. I ordered a Buffalo Trace on the rocks. Buffalo Trace on the menu was $6.75 When the bill came it said "Buffalo Trace $6.75 + $2 on the rocks". They charged me $2 for ice! If I want a good sandwich in a casual environment Id probably come back here. If I want to have dinner and drinks I would definitely go somewhere else.

Great place to get a large variety of sandwiches! Also some burgers and other fares. I cant wait to go back and sample some more of their hand-crafted sandwiches. The only complaint I had (as well as everyone in my group) is that the ketchup wasnt great. I believe its homemade, so if youre expecting some Heinz 57 flavor, it wont be there. I added a bit of salt and the flavor came around. Otherwise everything else was fantastic! Great environment too.

Do not come here if youre on any sort of diet because there are too many indulgent things on the menu that will tempt you to cheat...And it will be worth every bite. The McKinley sandwich with the meatloaf is unlike anything Ive ever had before in the best way possible. The Lucy salad is also yummy and you can sub the side of chips for salad for an upcharge. Happy hour has drink specials and discounts on appetizers from 3 to 6 PM even on Sundays!

Our server was Kelly, and she was very friendly from the beginning. She allowed us to move, and she followed up several times with any questions we had. She took our order, gave suggestions for each item, and how the loaded fries tasted. She kept our drinks full and kept a bright attitude. We went around 2pm on a Thursday, there was surprisingly a solid crowd. I had the dynamo with LTO on the side, but once added it tasted great.

We arrived right before 6pm and were seated immediately, but service was slow initially. The restaurant was pretty full when we arrived, but the dinner rush had cleared out by 6:30pm or so. After that point our server seemed much more available. He was friendly regardless of being slammed, though. The food was very good and the beer selection was impressive. A little on the pricey side, but youre paying for a quality sandwich.

The sandwich that I had was phenomenal (The Kennedy) and the same was said by each person I was with about their respective sandwiches. I also really enjoyed the pimento cheese fries. I visited while staying at the Hilton around the corner during a trip for a wedding, and would love to see this place expand beyond their 2 locations. A location in the Cincinnati area would be awesome so I could visit more.

Lots of gluten-free options, though my gf bread was overtoasted, thus painful, to eat. At 1pm on a Friday, service took forever, as in 20+ minutes, which is crazy since its just sandwiches. The waitress never checked back by. If anything, she avoided ud until our food came up. The sandwiches were tasty, though the homemade chips were stale--not soggy, though not crisp. My sons fries were better.

I drive for Lyft and kept picking people up from this location so I had been wanting to try it for a while, then one day I picked up one of the kitchen managers and he sold it for me. He told me to try the Hoover and I did. It was GREAT. The staff was very friendly as well. Im moving to Raleigh soon, I wish there was a location down there...but seriously if youre thinking about trying it, GO.

It was OK. I wouldnt run back here at all. To put it how average it was. I was in town for 5 nights and ate here my first day. I did not return for the rest of the trip and I had some poor meals after, so that says a lot. Staff seemed nice and cool, I just wasnt a fan of the food. I got a burger and I can make a better one myself. I hate paying for something I can do better at home.

Sandwiches were interesting and delicious. Everything else was wanting. Chips were stale and we waited 25 minutes for it food. Yes, it was a busy Friday lunch, and they reported a large take out order in front of us. IMO they should be staffed and prepared for something that acknowledged they expected. Worse, no one came by during that 25 minutes to let us know what to expect.

Prime location so it was busy and full but me and my +1 were seated immediately during a Saturday lunch rush. Great atmosphere inside with modern features to accent the old construction. Staff was friendly and helpful picking from the draft list and the menu was creative. The pimento cheese fries were delicious and the " Taft"and "Quincy" were top notch sandwhich creations.

I have to say it, the TRUMAN sandwich is out of this world!! Turkey with peach jam, Bleu cheese and crispy onions. I know its supposed to be a secret, but I am only going to tell 1 person HOW FREGGIN DELICIOUS the TRUMAN sandwich IS. I would have taken a pic. however after one bite I couldnt put the sandwich down to pick up my phone for any snaps. Sorry! Maybe next time.

Good rotating tap selection and my burger (the Dynamo) was very tasty. Although if youre going to give me the option to order "pink" or "no pink" it better be pink all the way through like a true medium instead of med-well. The fries were decent, but not anything special. The craft cocktails looked good, cant comment on the taste since I didnt have one.
