My husband, daughter, and I went to Rock Bottom at Short Pump on Saturday, July 26, 2014 after a fun day at Maymont. I chose Rock Bottom for my birthday dinner. They are located right above Firebirds (Food Court entrance). It was early evening, and the place was already hopping. We were told that the wait could be 20-30 minutes, but it was only 15 minutes. So that was great. We chose to eat inside as it was a humid, hot evening. Our server was Whitney (helped by James who brought our food out). She was excellent! I had just finished my lemonade, and when I looked up, there was another right in front of me. We did not have an appetizer. Whitney told us that they have been open since June 2 (2014). Our daughter had the cheeseburger with fries from the kid’s menu. It came with apple slices and carrot and celery strips. She did not eat all of her food, but she was drinking her mango tea and eating quite a bit of my husband’s dish - cajun pasta (linguine with cajun cream sauce and grilled chicken, andouille sausage, and shrimp). Both of them absolutely loved it. My husband has had cajun pasta dishes at many restaurants and said this has been the best. He also had the house salad. It was a large salad (again, my daughter ate some of his salad) with bite size lettuce and greens, cucumber, tomato, and egg pieces. Added in were sunflower seeds and raisins. The croutons looked like they had been soaked in a vinaigrette, but were crunchy and tasted good. They actually had thousand island dressing. He did have to ask for another serving of dressing -- it was a big salad. My husband had the six-beer sampler. Five of the samples are Kölsch, White Ale, India Pale Ale, Red Ale, Specialty Dark. The sixth he got to select. He chose the Honey beer (I cannot remember the exact name). He liked all of them (SD had a chocolate finish and the honey beer was a favorite). I had the Bacon chicken Mac’ n Cheese. I could only finish half of it. The portion is big (not quite as big as your head, but big enough). It’s filled with cavatappi noodles (corkscrew macaroni), roasted chicken, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, green onions, and parmesan breadcrumbs. I’d have it again. It is incredibly tasty. I will enjoy the leftovers this weekend. I had three glasses of lemonade (lemonade is a summer love of mine and Rock Bottom’s is tart enough for my taste). Yay! We did join Rock Rewards. It’s free. Next visit we’ll get $10 off (filled out the card at the restaurant for them to register us). We will definitely return. No matter how good the food was, we would not return if the service was poor. Lucky for Rock Bottom, they have Whitney. (Besides Whitney, James, and I believe a manager - blue shirt - checked on us after we got our food. Polite and not intrusive. Great, great, great service.) Whitney was personable and gave more information about the beers than is printed on the sampler card. And I should mention that after dinner, she brought out three spoons and a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauce and topped with a delectable chocolate garnish. She lit the candle and I made my wish. :) What a happy ending to a wonderful birthday. We’ll be back!

Omg! This place is awful! I usually dont write reviews, but this place made me want to. When my mom and I arrived, it was our 2nd time visiting. The hostess did not smile at us once. She had no personality, and she wasnt very welcoming. After we sat down & ordered, we noticed flies flying around our table and the restaurant. Disgusting. Also, when our food arrived, my mom was missing a couple of things from her meal. And my food was so cold that it seemed like it was sitting in a refrigerator the whole time, waiting for someone to order it. Its like they took it out, and threw it in the microwave for about 20 seconds, or probably less. Had to send it back. When I asked for a to go box, there was a long piece of blonde hair in it. Gross. It was my first time taking my mom out in a very long time, and it was all ruined! I shouldve listened to my mom and went somewhere else, but I wanted to give this place another chance, even tho my mom didnt have a great experience last time. I will not recommend this place to anyone, not even to my worst enemies.

I LOVE this place!!! My husband and I drive 45 minutes one way to go there. Wonderful food, great beer and the staff is absolutely amazing! They also have a rewards program so you can get discounts and perks. Its really nice inside, a lot of TVs and really clean. The brewery nachos are to die for! just too bad theyre not closer to us! Changing my review because ever since they got a new brewer the beer menu has gone down hill. Two out of the last three times we went there (last time was yesterday, New Years Eve) they were out of 30% of their beers. After saying something to the assistant brewer, Justin, he was very smug about it and only had excuses and kept on interrupting. Bartenders are still great as is the food.

Visited this weekend with family. We all really enjoyed it. Nice set up being on the 2nd floor they took advantage of having a huge patio. Staff was knowledgeable and took time to chat with us. Food got to us quick and was great. Between us we had pasta, sandwich and seafood tacos. All were great. BIG portions and the sandwich was pretty big, may be disliked by some but doesnt bother me. Prices are what to be expected for the area and competition around them but they definitely give good portion size compared to others for the price you pay. We dont drink so no review on the alcohol unfortunately. Sorry. Will definitely be back as we live close by to the mall. A+

Ive been to Rock Bottom twice now, once with just my boyfriend and then a second time with him and his family for his birthday. Both times weve ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. This might be the first place Ive been to in a while or that I can remember where I loved everything we got AND the bill didnt make us choke on our food. The atmosphere and staff were very likable as well. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who hasnt been yet (or even who has). Also one of few places Ive been able to find something different on the menu to order the second time I went, even though what I got the first time was delicious!

We really liked this place when it was slow. Great bartenders. Food is great. We had a friend in town and wanted to bring him here for dinner and beer. we were told 45 minute (party of 5), 1 hour later I checked we were told we were next and not to go to far. 15 minutes later I asked if it was going to be much longer or should we just go somewhere else, and the host told us, we should just go somewhere else with no apology. you can be certain we wont be coming back anytime soon.

This was my second time going to Rock Bottom so I thought I knew what to expect. My nachos came to the table and the cheese was so over baked it was like cement. They had to remake them. They ran out of fries so we received our burger by itself. We were half way through our burger when we got the fries. We had to constantly flag down our waiter. I wouldnt recommend this place. There are too many places to eat at that serve better food and gave better service.
