A little bit for everyone. A pub downstairs with some fringe tables. A dive bar upstairs with pool tables and a strange atrium looking front semi enclosed patio, the later 2 are smoke friendly. It really felt like 3 zones because the fountain and decorations on the out front patio thingy matched nothing else. Consider the front a lounge and the upstairs an almost outdoor patio. Talk about convenient located near the Hilton I came her a few nights in a row as a stop and end off during a wedding week. Not only did it service quick shots during the reception (reception only served beers and cocktails), but I came here the day before and 2 days afterwards. The bartenders definitely get overwhelmed downstairs because of the lack servers and bar space. A decent selection of craft beers and whisky. Price is inexpensive. Vibe can be eclectic and very different from area to area. Bathroom is ok, but not equipped to hand a swarm or anything near capacity. They at one point ran out of glassware. Dont come here looking for a lychee appletini. Simple cocktails, beers and shots are what they specialize in. Its a Pub technically. Most people and groups congregate in just one zone and not much intermingling. Drinks are cheaper than other pubs, cheaper than expected and apparently have an even better HH. The main downstairs bar is great for small groups, the atrium is good for conversation while upstairs is kinda of a mess with too much going on. Good luck getting to the tiny bar in the corner. A maze of tables and people posted on the wall all re-arranging tables for their group and whatnot. They have great mugs.

Old English style, grace, and taste. I use google maps a lot to find pubs around the country to have a good meal and a good beer. Ive never added a review until now. Any time I walk into a pub (or so called pub) I ask if they have HP sauce. Personally I dont think one should call a pub a pub, English or Irish, unless they serve HP sauce. This one did and it wasnt the fake US version made by Heinz in Canada but the real deal (made now in the Netherlands thanks to the EU) with Her Majestys seal on the side. I had the fish and chips which was superb. It was served with peas. A nice touch considering most places just serve the fish and chips. I know. The classic dish isnt called fish, chips and peas but it was a very welcome surprise. The beer list wasnt huge but had many great selections. I had a MOA double IPA and it was delicious. Joe the bartender was delightful. We had a nice chat about football (the real football). The only thing wrong with the place was that it was clearly a Liverpool supporters pub. The place has a huge collection of match and club scarves tied to the rafters. As a Man U fan I was looking around for just one piece of Man U gear on the wall or ceilings but couldnt find any. I asked Joe about this and he said that there certainly was. He said the Man U scarves were what they used to clean the floors and the bar. Touché my good man Joe. Lol. If you are in town and appreciate a real English Pub, you must give this fine establishment a chance. If I were local Id likely be a regular.

Ive been coming to this place for years. The first I came here, I was overnighting with my first airline, way back in 2004ish. At the time, Id never been to the UK. Now, a decade later Ive been to the UK more times than I can count. With that being said Penny Lane Pub STILL is every bit as good of not better than many of the pubs in London, Manchester, Liverpool, or any other city in the UK. There is one thing though, no jet lag. So if you find yourself in Richmond, or even passing through, stop in. Have a pint and the Bangers and Mash. Have a meal In the old country without ever having to check a bag! Love this place!! +1

Been to Penny Lane many, many times and have never had a bad experience. Terry and his staff really have given me a taste of what the UK is like. The Wally Johnson and Fish and Chips are both wonderful and worth what you pay for them. And seeing a bartender wearing shirt and tie, as they do in the UK according to a British friend of mine, was a nice touch. My friend, being from the UK, is notoriously hard to place and he loves the place too. We both her spoken to Terry before and find him to be a class act-even if he does like Liverpool while my friends a Manchester United fan. Thank you, Terry.

Ive been coming to Penny Lane Pub for 14 years. Certainly doesnt make me a veteran amongst some of the lifetime legends that hang there hats here but I always feel at home at the pub. The staff is always welcoming and attentive. If youve been coming to this pub for years or its your first time its always a blessing to be greeted with a "hi yall" from Terry ONeill who is the ultimate legend of this watering hole. So stroll in, pull up a stool, and order a pint. You will feel right at home and instantly be part of the family here. CMON Chelse!!! Up the BLUES!

Our experience was challenging. With roots from England and being our first weekend in our new home of Richmond we were excited to find an English Pub. The interior and atmosphere were right on point. The challenge was the service and food. Service was slow and our waitress forgot our ale order. Food was OK but really disappointed that the chips served with the Fish and Chips were just you standard fries ... even steak fries would have come closer to the real thing .. we will be back, but only to enjoy a pint at the bar

The atmosphere is amazing...its a cacophony of Britishness, done authentically and organically, and it can almost feel claustrophobic compared to other places. There is an upstairs that may be used only for private groups. The food is great (craving fish & chips now) and the bar is well-stocked and offers all of the British standards. My favorite time there is spring or fall when its a little cool and theyre seating in the courtyard.

Будете в Ричмонде с желанием попить пивка - зайдите в этот паб - не пожалеете. Интересный интерьер, умиротворенная атмосфера, клиенты всех возрастов, но определенно интеллигентные люди с хорошим вкусом :)

Just what I needed when I arrived in town thirsty. Good ESB and IPA on tap. Great fish and chips. Try a little curry dipping sauce, but add a bit of malt vinegar to the sauce. Generous portions. Kind wait staff. If you have English papers to grade, stop by and get yourself an imperial pint (20oz), watch football (Euro-style). The pub gets an "A," but give the student essay bast&*%s in your class the grades they deserve.

Pretty legit Thai food. Hidden behind the mall. Drive around the complex and you can park right behind the plaza in front of the restaurant. Restaurant located beside the cinema. Pretty awesome stir fries and also Penny Lane Pub soups. Tried a bunch of stuff and liked most of them. Worth a visit .

I just had to post to respond to the below commenter... I love coming to Penny Lane, especially Sundays, where the experience is always great and the staff, including the beautiful bartendress, are awesome. Salman, I think, just got his feelings hurt while drinking a little too fast...
