Liked this place until recently we took our kids there for lunch. They didnt touch their food and after taking a bite of their quesadilla, tasted like pure dishwasher soap. Absolutely disgusting and had to spit it out. I called the manager to tell his staff to rinse their dishes better and he was absolutely useless then handed me off to the owner, Everardo Fonfeca who gave me a ton of rhetoric saying they will check with their "cheese" company etc. etc. and sounded threatening on the phone. Also told me to come down and speak to him face to face. Ill be filing a complaint with the BBB and several other agencies. And I will also being going down their Monday to cuss this a-hole out and get our money back. They have lost our business for good not to mention I could barely understand this idiot. Ill be telling everyone in our county about the experience.

Very, very disgusted and disappointed. I have been tot he El Cerro Azul in Midlothian and always had a wonderful experience. I bought a Groupon recently that was only valid at the Powhatan location so we decided to give it a try as well. BIG mistake. They brought over our chips and salsa and halfway through the basket we found a dead cockroach mixed in with our chips! We called the attention of our waiter and he just picked it up with his fingers and said hed get us a new basket. No thanks! We cancelled our order and left. Unfortunately we just lost the money we paid for our Groupon but theres no way Id eat there after that.

Went there for the first time for tacos and drinks. Not a great experience, my beer wasnt that cold and the tacos werent ok. The biggest disappointment - sat on the toilet the rest of the evening. Something didnt sit well at all and I eat mexican all the time. The service was attentive and we had a nice waitress. Probably wont be going back anytime soon

The owner travels to Mexico to bring back recipe ideas and stories. The tables are hand made from carved wood, the walls have detailed stonework and beautiful mosaic tiles and artwork. Amazing service, tasty food, $1 Margarita Thursdays, and definitely would go out of my way to eat here.

Absolutely the best! Great food, super fast service and a great staff. Family owned and operated which gives you an at home feel, but the food and margaritas are what really keep you coming back! Highly recommend for a quick bite or that special dinner.

This is the one of the very best and authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. The food quality...always excellent; the service...always excellent; the quantity...always more than you can eat. And the Patron margaritas...amazing.

They cant seem to EVER get my order right. Gave them a try tonight after a year and they got the order wrong. Go to pick up missing food and its WRONG. Did get a gift card but not sure if Ill use it to be honest.

Probably the best Mexican food in central Virginia. This easily beats out other options in and around Richmond. Limited tables for groups of five or more. Service is top notch. Gets very busy during dinner.

El Cerro Azul has some of the friendliest waitstaff Ive encountered, and the food is absolutely delicious. My girlfriend and I can eat large filling meals with desert for under 20 bucks.

Great place to eat in Powhatan. Nice place to meet up with friends or family in the area and enjoy a good, reasonably priced meal. Oh, and they have a Pokemon Go gym.
