My girlfriend and I were in search of Beef Wellington for months and chose St. Germain for this specific dish. It is situated off of Granby St in Norfolk in a building mostly likely constructed in the early 20th century. Its ambiance is what I would consider rustic-trendy-chic. Very well finished, decorated well and dimly lit. We were seated immediately by a gracious host on a Saturday night (we had reservations). We started off with some cocktails. I had the Felonious Monk while my girlfriend had something reminiscent of a tropical drink. Both were so-so. My girlfriend ordered a different cocktail, and again, it just wasnt "all that" after trying a sip. So, I ordered an IPA to get back on track. For appetizers, we ordered the foie gras torchon and the royal deviled egg. The royal deviled egg was pretty horrible. And thats my fault, not the restaurants. Im not overly in love with deviled eggs, but the caviar and salmon skin sounded interesting, and being an adventurous eater, I decided to try it. Nope! Not MY thing. It may be yours, but not mine. This does not mean its not good, it just means my taste buds arent suited for a combination of salmon skin, caviar and deviled egg. Now, the Foie Gras was a different story. It was f***ing mind-blowingly good. So much so, I ordered another. Could not get enough of it! Its one of those little dishes that just sticks with you months later and will be back to order again. On to the Wellington.... It was my first time having this dish, and it was beyond excellent. Everything that I hoped it would be. For $76, it serves 2-4 people. Being that it was just the two of us, we finished off a good portion, but ended up taking two servings home. But it can easily feed 4 people. The beef, the mushrooms, the pastry was all cooked perfectly. Cant say enough good things about it. We normally save room for dessert, but this time we didnt. We gorged ourselves with the Wellington. The service throughout the night was excellent. Zero complaints. Aside from my taste buds not agreeing with the deviled egg and the cocktails, everything else about our experience was excellent. We will be back

Full disclosure: We arrived 10 minutes late for a 7 p.m. reservation for 4 people. We were seated immediately, but it took 30 minutes for a server to ask for our drink order. It took at least another 10 minutes to be told they were out of one of the drinks and another 10 to have our order fulfilled. We placed our food order just before 8. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. Our first app, the nitro popcorn, arrived in a few minutes and tasted great. Our next app was a charcuterie board with chorizo and blue cheese and we never received it. When we inquired about it an hour after placing our food order the server appeared to have forgotten and a few minutes later brought out a huge plate of meat and pickles that didnt include the items we ordered. Another hour later, we received one entree. Five minutes later we received the second. The last entree, a hamburger, was delivered 15 minutes after the first and we were notified that they would not charge for the burger. Because the service had been so poor, before we started eating we asked for the check. Our food was very cold and salty to the point of inedibility. We paid, and left and do not plan to return. The staffs lack of concern for the inconvenience was present throughout the restaurant and many patrons appeared to be dissatisfied. Im not sure if they were short staffed, but it was mothers day weekend on a Saturday. Poor planning. Poor quality. Poor service. TL;DR As a former service worker, I eould not recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to eat.

Delectable & Wonderfully Divine Ive been here twice now and both times, the service and food was absolutely fantastic. The lavender mule is my favorite cocktail ($12) and is a definite must have. First photo is a palette refresher, to open up your tastebuds. Their nitro popcorn is exceedingly popular, but I prefer their Banh Mi bar snack (photo looks like "tacos" served in a steamed bun). Tartare of beef tenderloin was flavorful, but I was more impressed by the greens than the actual tartare. Ordered Cajun Andouille Sausage and a semi-hard cow cheese; sausage was OK and the cheese was rather bland tasting, their cauliflower was more prominent tasting than anything; they excel in their vegetables (wish they did more!). Ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert, but I really loved the ice cream- it paired very well with the mousse. Our bill (with tip) ended up being $156, with five cocktails as well. All in all, these people know what theyre doing. I feel a little out of my league coming here because this place is so fancy and I dont even know how to pronounce some of the items on the menu, but everything Ive had is wonderful. Yes, its expensive- this is not an Olive Gardens or a "family diner," it is an elegant experience and it is well worth it. I will continue to come here and I feel confident in recommending Saint Germain.

Im Shanise Williams I, the coordinator of The Girls Take Granby. This evening I had the pleasure of meeting and making peace with David, the owner of St. Germain and Elixia. He and I got the opportunity to address his post, talk moving forward, and most importantly receive a proper apology. David has agreed to work with three womens organizations, and he is also going to be doing more here in our community as well. Together we will host an event on Galentines Day, Saturday February 11th, at St. Germain and Elixia called "Love Thy Ladies" to show peace and unity in our community. My goal in this situation has always been to bring better leaders and love to this community. After going through it all, I hope that we will take from this tolerance, understanding, and forgiveness. People make mistakes, David made a mistake. Let us not make one as well by judging him and boycotting. Ladies, lets be honest, weve forgiven worse for less. David expressed his sincerest apologies and Im sure had it not been me but you who told him you were offended, hed apologize to you too. I encourage you all, as I did the other post, to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE THIS!!! Let people know that positivity can spread just as fast and just as much as the bad stuff. Peace and Love, Shanise Williams I

Bored? Lazy night? Upset? Get your butt over the saint Germaines because so help me god this place will make you love life again. The dishes are fresh and innovative and they sport a damn good bartender to boot. Admittedly, not everything on the menu was well thought out and ends up coming short, but the execution makes it "just good." On the other hand, dishes like the foie gras cotton candy and short rib bone marrow burger will rock. your. socks. Take the opportunity to try the menu. Portions is incredibly generous and almost make it difficult to try more than two or three starters - but the prices certainly wont stop you.. For the quality and quantity of food you get, the price sweeps the competition in the happiness to cost ratio. I concede the service was a tad bit slow due to the newer kitchen staff on account of the newbies in the kitchen but Ill be damned if I didnt have an incredible experience. Hell, my mother couldnt even complain on her birthday, we were floored by our waiters friendliness and professional courtesy. 5/5, I look forward to my visit with what can only be described as giggling delight.
