Picked Zamarod because it was between our home and Wolf Trap. My Wife and I have always enjoyed afghan spices, and this looked to be an "upscale" kabob place. We were both blown away by the food they served. A wonderful blend of spices and high quality ingredients that had both of us wiping our plates clean with the delicious bread they serve. I had Sirloin Kabob and my wife had a Lamb dish served with Pumpkin (mine was one of the daily specials). The sirloin was well marinated in fragrant (and tasty) spices and cooked to perfection; However, it was not the star on the plate. The star of the plate was - and I still cant believe Im saying this - turnips. Yes, turnips. They were cooked down until they had caramelized and served with a tomato based sauce. Perfection. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her lamb and the side dishes too. Bottom line is that we will look for opportunities to visit in the future.

We had a rehearsal dinner here. They were very flexible and worked with us to create a phenomenal evening. The food was exquisite. There were a few individuals who attended who told me at the event that they did not like lamb. Well after eating here, they have changed their mind and are now lamb converts. They cooked 3 lamb entrees for us (lamb kabobs, shanks, grilled chops) and frankly I am hard pressed to say which was best. One of the older ladies in attendance ate a whole plate of lamb chops it was so good and my aunts grandson, could not stop eating a number of dishes. (He had never had this sort of ethic dishes before.) The appetizers were fantastic and too many for me to name here. The service felt like I was in a fine french restaurant. My Afghani son in law , a good cook himself, was most impressed with the interpretation of traditional dishes. I will be back!

The cuisine is top notch. The food is immaculate! The one thing that needs to be improved is the service. Dont get me wrong, the owner is super friendly and courteous but, Ive never seen anyone else in the restaurant but him. No waiter no busboy nothing. It really slows down the dinner process because its only one person that serves all the tables. Updating my review to five stars because the last time I visited here there were two waitresses working.

Wow. Really tasty. I am not that familiar with Afghanistan food, but it has some unique spices... maybe a mix of middle Eastern / Lebanese and Indian, with all the fl its of India, but without the curries. Good news: they have wine. It is limited, but adequate. Service is personal, but average. Ambiance is lacking. Very much comfort food with amazing taste and a personal interaction with owners.

The food has been excellent every time I have eaten here. I have tried a variety of dishes, and every one has been great. The staff are always very friendly, and the owner goes out of his way to ensure everyone has a great experience. There can be a bit of a wait if it is a busy night, so this is not the place to eat if you are in a hurry, but the freshly cooked food is always worth the wait.

I stumbled across this restaurant a few years ago, looking for a place to eat before going to wolf trap. OMG! Now its our go to place when ever we are in the area. Food is top notch. The owner does it all, owner, cook, waiter, bus boy, etc. And even thow he is busy, he still gives you time, you never feel rushed. I wish he was closer to where I live. I would be a regular!! ENJOY

Our party of four went Wednesday evening, for our first time at Zamarod and just wow! We each ordered different entries and from the appetizers to the dessert, we all LOVED each item! Plenty of delicious vegetable options for the non--meat eaters as well. The sauteed pumpkin is a must try! Nice ambiance as well, and conveniently located off of Route 7.

Went to Zamarod this evening for family dinner and mothers birthday. Food was delicious and all 6 of us left with full, happy stomachs. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating to us when we requested to move from the outside patio to an inside table due to temp cooled down too much to eat outside. I recommend it for sure!
