Very good burgers. If you have ever bemoaned the lack of "gourmet" burger joints in Richmond , along the same line as Shake Shack, etc, well then this is your place. The burgers are very tasty. I generally only dine out a once or twice a month, but I have been to Burger Works 5 times in the last month. My favorite is Da Bom. The gouda, the horseradish bacon mayo and bacon are excellent. I still have all my receipts and none of them have any "2 dollar custom burger fee" despite the fact someone in my group always orders a custom burger. There is a 2 dollar fee if you want Buffalo meat, and extra for certain gourmet toppings. I also added toppings to my "Da Bom" and likewise there was no additional fee. I love the milkshakes. Top notch. The price isnt cheap but the location is obviously not cheap either, and they dont skimp on quality. The meat is good and cooked perfectly, the buns are great, the topings are top notch. The prices are in line with other non fast food burger joints. There is a kids menu for the kids. One time they did forget my horseradish mayo and the burger was kind of dry, but they are new. If you like good burgers and beleive in the adage that you get what you pay for, this is the place for you. If 2 bucks is going to break you, or you clip coupons to get by (which has been part of my life in the past) then maybe its not for you right now.

I am so disappointed with the food and service I received today. I called in an order so I could pick it up on my lunch break from work. When I arrived, before 12:00 pm, the place was not busy. There were 2 young men standing behind the register talking. My order was ready so I paid for it and left. When I got back to my office to eat I opened the stapled bag and noticed that not only had they given me a side of some weird sauce instead of ranch like I requested, but my burger was burnt! When I say burnt I mean it was black and hard as a rock. I called the store back and was met with an attitude from one of the young kids that work there who told me their excuse was that it was really busy. I asked to speak with a manager so that I could get an email address to send her the picture of my awful food and get a refund. I was told the manager was unavailable until after 2 pm because it was so busy. UPDATE: The owner of Burger Works called me personally to apologize and was able to refund my money and offered me gift certificates. Because of him I am changing my review to 3 stars. I still think the staff working in the restaurant could use some customer service training and cooking lessons however I truly appreciated his concern and the lengths he went to for me.

I am amazed at the reviews. A "Messy burger"? That is what makes it so good. Its not dried out and looks like it was put together by a machine. I had the BBQ Burger with Bison and bacon. It was delicious. It was messy and made me use many napkins. This makes me feel like its homemade. I came in during the lunch rush and was served within 10 minutes. The hostess was nice and made it easy to make my order. The parts to improve upon. I have to point out the price for normal burger is well inline with non fast food burger sold. Though the specialty burger was just below $18 for my burger, fries and a drink. Pretty pricey for a lunch. I would target this for a diner or special occasion. One small detail the plants in the front do not allow for an open inviting access to the location. It actually hides the location.

I have been to Burgerworks several times and each time, I find their burgers, Fries, and deep fried Pickles to be outstanding. My favorite is the Deep Fried Dill Pickles with the Chipotle Ranch. I also always order the Bison meat for my Burger. Great taste and less fat for a burger. I like the idea in how you can build your own Burger, as they always put a lot on. Today, I noticed they had Texas Toast as a choice for a bun. After my Bison Burger and all the toppings with the Texas Toast. I will always order the Texas Toast. What I like most about Burgerworks is that the meat is fresh and all the condiments added to the burger are fresh. Also, the people working there are extremely friendly and helpful on helping you with your order.

This place is my favorite go to burger place right now. Their burgers are amazing and they always have new and exciting things to try based on the time of year. They have great sides incase you want something other than fries, although their fries are great. The staff is always very friendly and personable. They have started to remember my normal order, since I have become a regular, which always feels awesome. They arent too expensive, around 25 dollars for 2 people to fully eat. They do have bison on the menu which I like to get every once in a while. I wish they had kobe beef and hope they will in the future. Long story short, they have great food great people and a good environment. Eat here!

We had two separate burgers here - one create your own and one BBQ burger - and a side of parmesan fries. The burgers sounded amazing and both were quite pricy for fast food. I was incredibly disappointed with my burger - is was dry, the onion straws were tasteless, there was hardly any sauce, etc. Normally this is what I would expect from a fast food burger, but not at $10 a burger. The parmesan looked good, but tasted like reheated Five Guys fries with some tasteless parmesan cheese on top. Id been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now. Sad to say I do not think I will be making a second trip.

The food here is good, but not great. It is also fairly pricey; a burger and a side of fries cost me about $11.50. For $11.50 I can go to just about any restaurant and get a burger that is bigger and tastes better. The menu is also confusing; they list some items on one wall, some more on another. It would be nice to have all the options located in one place. The burgers; while somewhat small, do taste pretty good though, and the portions of fries are substantial. Im not sure if Ill come back any time soon, but my friends liked it, and overall it was good experience.

The menu by the registers has a small list of burgers. After sitting down after ordering a burger with the least items I hate I found out they have another menu on a side wall. The other menu is far from the register and explains the custom burger process. After pulling off the items I dont like the burger was good and the French fry portions were huge. When asked if I could speak to a manager they explained there isnt one on duty after 3 pm.
