Amazing, unique, and exquisite dishes, sandwiches and sweets made from scratch with the very best ingredients. Clearly the cook/owners and their team know about food and how to fuse ingredients! You can taste the love of great food and passion in each dish... Try her Bluewing burger, the black bean soup, or grilled vegies and brown rice; the complex apple and chicken salad sandwich or "death by pork", and dont leave without tasting a sampling of the delectably unique cookies (my favorites include the salted peanut, lemon-rosemary, and delicate chocolate chip!), not too mention the finest cakes and breads homemade in the kitchen. We delight in the atmosphere, like the fun giant picnic table and rustic wood tables. Blue Wing Frog is truly a gem in the area. Plan to take your time to enjoy the atmosphere and food, as preparing such treasures from scratch takes a little longer. Bravo, Blue Wing Frog!

Okay folks, its like this ... BWF is owned & run by lovely people who provide excellent food. We recently spent some time in the Shenandoah valley and happened into Front Royal. Consulting yelp for a good, affordable eatery, we landed at BWF. In short ... the Skrimps (seasoned shrimp) were exquisite, the chicken sandwich delightful (on an expertly home-baked roll, no less), my better half said that shed found her One True Dish (the peanut butter sandwich), and the cookies scrumptious (the ginger snaps in particular are, IMHO, to die for). And the host even brought out some stewed chicken (from the chicken stock theyd been preparing) for our hound. The food is freshly prepd as ordered, and worth the (short) wait. Not the cheapest meal, but not at all spendy, and absolutely worth every shekel. You cant go wrong. (And our son agreed when he joined us there on a college break.)

We had to wait unresonably long for our food, i.e. close to an hour for 4 mains in an empty restaurant. In not easy to find gourmet food in rural North America so we did not expect much, however, the food still disappointed: bland, undercooked fish, overcooked veggies. I would give this place 2 stars if not for the severe food poisoning my wife experienced after her meal. Her symptoms - nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting - started half an hour after we left the place. She did not eat anything else that day except a light breakfast 7 hours earlier. We were supposed to end the otherwise fun day at a DC nightclub, but the evening was obviously ruined. This is the first case of food poisoning in our family in over 10 years, and we eat out a lot.

Overall very happy to find a local eatery close to Skyline Drive that serves generous portions after a long day on the mountain. It was our first time visiting this area. We saw many positive reviews and decided to give Blue Wing Frog a chance. We were happy we did! Staff was very friendly and lots of friendly locals as well. Its different in that you have to order at the front counter. We were a little confused at first but we figured it out. The selection of over two dozen local beers was fantastic. The only downside is that more attention needed to be focused on general cleanliness. But I was satisfied overall. Good food, fair price, large portions. Definitely a worth a try!

I absolutely love this place! Definitely my favorite place to eat in Virginia. Delicious homemade soups, vegetarian options and all high quality ingredients. The service was also outstanding. We sat in the outdoor seating section with our little dog, and he was treated very well. They brought him a water bowl and some delicious treats. I ordered the cheddar BLT, which was made with excellent bread and tasted so good. My husband ordered the shrimp po boy, which was sensational. The remoulade was just not to be believed. I loved the culinary herbs growing in pots surrounding us and the indoor decor. Robert was the best host ever. You have got to try this place.

I am very surprised to read some of the glowing reviews after we and others we know have all had a similar experience - here is ours; Decor is so so, food generally ok, staff generally friendly to very friendly. So with ok food and a nice staff in general why 2 stars - the awful manager or owner (woman who sits at a desk when not being rude, snippy, or generally trying to drive away patrons with her less than rosy attiitude) who has on multiple occasions managed to ruin what would otherwise be an average meal at an average sort of place. As i said others we know have had similar experiences - my money will go to more deserving people until she is gone.

I love the Blue Wing Frog! Its fun to take your picture and eat on the very LARGE picnic table! I am hard pressed to say which is my favorite meal/sandwich! Jessicas Grilled Cheese, Adult Peanut Butter Sandwich, Veggie Sandwich...YUM! There are others as well. too many to name. They make so many of their items fresh and in-house...ask and they will give you the scoop. I love the atmosphere as you wait for your food. I love that each time I go, my food is made to order especially for me! Keep on improving on a good thing, Robert and Kelly!

The food was fresh and delicious, and worth the wait for them to prepare. We enjoyed meeting owner Robert and were really impressed by their dedication to making EVERYTHING from scratch, even their mustard and ketchup! The menu is interesting and creative. We had the veggie stir-fry and Jessicas grilled cheese. The stir-fry was overflowing with veggies and great soy ginger flavor. Finished off with a few cookies, with the lemon rosemary frog drops being the favorite. Will definitely be back next time were in town!

Been here twice and have thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Wonderful food and a great atmosphere. The owner is very sweet and seems to really enjoy his customers. Today we had a particularly tough job for them - a no-reservation arrival of 20+ adults and kids who had just had a weekend of camping. They happily adjusted to the influx and were patient with us trying to keep the over-tired kids calm. This is my go-to place on the way home from Shenandoah. And the rest of the group we brought along are now sold too.

Delicious find on a road trip. Good was top notch, great Parking , plenty of room inside and there is outside seating also. The place had some great mood music in the place and the vibe was great. Decent craft beer section and menu options. The staff was great... Possible exception of the boss lady on duty. She snapped loudly at one of the friendly young ladies for asking if they were out of potato salad... She insisted they were even though they werent.. Otherwise a great place.

LOVED this place! First of all, Robert the co-owner was wonderful: extremely welcoming, funny, friendly. The food was very good. We had the veggie stir fry over rice and the veggie sandwich. Both were excellent and surprisingly flavorful for a vegetarian meal. You could definitely tell they focus on fresh ingredients and cooking with a lot of love. Try their homemade cookies! We will certainly be going back the next time we are in the area!

This is a local treasure, but know what you are getting into. Its delicious slow food with unique ambiance. The atmosphere is uniquely fresh, artsy, and fun. It almost feels like you are in an art museum that happens to have a shelf of craft beer! The food is real and good. Nothing artificial. Nothing you cant pronounce, but plenty of flavor. I will go again, but not if feeling immediately hungry. It was slow.
