New server was having a hard time with orders and descriptions, made it hard to know if youll get what you ordered. We went in today around noon for lunch. There were only two other tables sat. When the waitress came over and asked us what we wanted to drink, I asked her about the gingseng. She couldnt give me details about whether it was carbonated or tea like. I decided to order it anyways. Turns out after Ive already drink a quarter of the drink it had expired 2 months ago. I had ordered miso soup. I had mentioned I love eating the tofu and wanted extra, when I finally got the soup (after my appetizer and main dish was already finished), the soup had little flavor, no seaweed, no fresh chives to top it off. So I thought maybe she misunderstood what I said for only tofu. When addressed, she told me they only put tofu and seweed into their soup. I asked her if she can put the seaweed in it and ask the chef for chives. Apparently the chef didnt like the idea of being told what to do and diced onion (yellow onion) was put into the soup instead. The seaweed turns out to be super tiny flakes that could barely be seen. Thats when I realized thats how their miso soup was. Terrible. We had ordered over 20$ and with that comes a free chefs roll. We were confused because the menu states chefs roll for all the rolls. We asked which roll would be free and the waitress never got back to us. We werent sure if we got to choose from the list or what specific roll it was because we also ordered the spicy tuna roll. The chef finally made his way out to see us. Apparently the chef didnt feel like making the roll because he didnt think our charges were over 20$ and that we were going to pay separate..? Anyhow, he came out apologized for the overdue drink and made the roll. We paid the bill and left. Wont ever come back because poor service and not knowledgeable staff. They need better training before they get on the floor by themselves.

Highly recommend and will definitely return!! We stopped in a little late in the day on our way home and it wasnt very busy but still, the service was above and beyond! Our server was very sweet and helpful and we received our orders very quickly. The sushi chef was just simply amazing!!! He found out I was vegetarian (great veggie selection btw, different dishes w/o fish OR meat) and not only washed his knife to be respectful, but he put our sushi roles on separate plates AND he prepared a refreshing cucumber role for us to try so we can order it for next time! Just WOW! You cant find that attention to detail everywhere, let alone eating out at a restaurant. The chef also told us his mother is vegetarian so hes used to cooking food without meat and we will definitely be back to try those dishes! Our server was so patient too and even asked questions if she wasnt 100% sure of an answer. I could go on and on but longer story short, this place blew me away with their delicious food, great ambience, and exceptional service. Visit here, you wont regret it :)

After reading reviews online for YamaFuji, we made the visit here for dinner this past Saturday evening, 02/23/13. It wasnt extremely busy or crowded inside, but there were a couple of large parties that seemed to take up the staffs attention. Nonetheless, we were taken very good care of even though there were only three people working that evening. We were brought bowls of miso soup on the house to accommodate the for the wait time, but it seemed like once we were given our soup, the wait wasnt that long. The sushi chef personally brought us our food and everything was delicious. If you like shrimp and avocado together, try the Miami Roll! The El Tako (grilled baby octopus) was also delicious as an appetizer. The staff worked very hard that evening to make sure all patrons dining, were happy while taking care of take out orders too. The green tea ice cream is a nice way to finish off the meal and cleanse your palette. The service and food were excellent and we will definitely be back!

Absolutely love this place. I was in Front Royal for three months for work, living out of a motel, and this restaurant was the food highlight for our crew. The sushi is fresh and tasty, with tons of options. I highly recommend the tako (fried baby octopus) appetizer. The staff were incredibly friendly and always remembered us, often able to remember each of our usual orders. Best part about this restaurant it the all you can eat sushi buffet on Sunday night. For under $20 they have a wide selection of sushi, including several fancy rolls, as well as a smaller selection of appetizers. I am currently working in Winchester, VA, and our work crew are planning to visit Yama Fuji this Sunday.

Do yourself a favor and visit Yami Fuji in the old Dairy Barn building in Ft. Royal Virginia. We drive over 100 miles to do so!! Its that good. The Yama Box is our favorite, a bento-type box with lots of flavors, such as teriaki chicken and even pad thai.--and every reasonable. The sushi is fresh and the avocado is particularly creamy. But our very favorite in Anna, an incredible professional server who remembers everything, even though we cannot get there as often as we would like. She remembers that I like club soda--with lime. No wonder we keep returning.

Wife and I got the buffet. The sashimi was great and flavorful (tuna and salmon), rolls were hit and miss. Buffet ran dry several times during our meal and people were waiting with plates in hand to pounce on whatever was brought out - not relaxing. If you do decide to eat here, Dave yourself the hassle and order from the menu. We recommend the sashimi and yamafuji rolls. If youve eaten sushi in NYC, DC, etc. this may not be the one for you.

My son spent time in Japan last summer and he said he hadnt had anything this good since then. To him this was the most authentic Japanese cuisine hes had since returning to the States. I also really enjoyed my meal - it was fresh and very clean tasting - it was delicious.

This was our first time to visit Yamafuji and found the sushi and bento box here excellent for reasonable price! Even though this was our first visit, the owner accommodated our requests and our kids loved the foods too.The owner was not only very kind but also efficient.

Love this place. Its my go to for my sushi fix. Family members who dont do fish get a great meal too. Attentive but not pushy staff make for a relaxing visit. Very accommodating chef and delicious food. We are lucky to have such a great local restaurant.
