My boyfriend and I had dinner for the first time here tonight 11/5/16 and were not pleased at all. We ordered mussels to start, and had to send them back because they were cold and half of them were not steamed fully as the shells were completely shut. It wasnt a big deal at all nor did we make it we simply wanted them cooked longer and not cold. The server apologized and took them back to the kitchen, steamed them a little longer and they came back decent at best. We ordered our entree, he got the gumbo and I went with the Filet Mignon. The food arrived and we notice that my steak is NOT filet Mignon... we inform the server thats its really not that big of a deal we just did not want to pay the price of a Filet when that was not what we received. Again, not a huge deal and she was very polite. The cook came out and confronted us at our table, which a cook should never do!!! He explained first about the bacon that was supposed to be with it, but there wasnt any bacon which was another red flag for it not being the Filet. After a very rude encounter with a dirty chef, he returns to the kitchen and comes back out with two big slabs of RAW meat and brought them to our table WHILE were still eating, trying to show us that it Is Filet and which slab he cut the meat from. Completely uncalled for!!!! He was making it more of a big deal than we were. Ive never had a Filet Mignon where I had to literally saw through the meat at a medium temperature, with a BUNCH of fat and extremely chewy... Never in my life have I felt so disrespected as a paying guest and definitely will not recommend or be returning. The only thing pleasant about the visit was our server, and the gumbo was good....

This place was awful. And if i were the owners i would read these reviews and make some personnel changes. HINT HINT. My husband and I brought my parents who came in from out of town to eat here on a Sunday around 1:45. we walked in and there was no one in seated. the waitress Jennifer seemed less than happy to have us there. she obviously did not know the menu because she had to look up everything we ordered before she left the table. when the food finally arrived my order was wrong. and when i told her that wasnt what i ordered, she claimed that was what she had written down and tried to make me take it. halfway through the meal the staff TURNED OFF THE HEAT in area we were sitting. SO RUDE. i get that they were ready to close and go home but this was unacceptable. and the waitress kept trying to clear my fathers plates when he was still eating and he finally had to tell her that he was not done and he would appreciate her not trying to clear the table. after that she lost any kindness she had left because she threw our check down on the table and then informed us WE would have to come find HER to let us out after we had finished our meal. OVERALL: terrible, down right RUDE customer service! i would not recommend chancing this place especially if you have out of town guests. and the food was not really good at all once we finally got the correct order.

Their new brunch menu is incredible. I would drive here just for brunch on any given Sunday. Its that good. The portions are large, the food is delicious and the presentation is classy. I got the andouille omelette and it was cooked perfectly, with large pieces of sausage, and spinach and tomatoes peppered throughout. The pancakes, though. OH MY! They were fluffy and thick and dressed up with berries, whipped cream and cream cheese drizzle. All I can say is you must try this place. And sit outside for a truly delightful experience!

My family and I ate there Saturday night - the food and ambiance were excellent. Anyone who has traveled to New Orleans or lived there, will understand how authentic their food is. A great local selection of wines/beer and the meals had some of the freshest ingredients. We had the gumbo, jambalaya, and broccoli/Gouda soup and everything was fantastic. If you are looking for a great place to eat, with friendly staff, and excellent food - you have to try this place. We will definitely be going back there!

The cafe was great! We were there on a slow night and they treated us like kings. We had the gumbo (awesome), shrimp poboy, crab cake salad, and the most wonderful pecan pie I have ever had; and I love pecan pie! The portions were enormous and freshly prepared. We are going to be eating leftover s for awhile. The decor was pretty plain but dont let that fool you. If we lived here this would definitely be on a frequent rotation. Give this place a try, you will be happy you did. Thanks Sam for a great visit!

My family and I had planned to come here and eat because we heard good things. We get there and the door is open, but the lights are off. We called for someone but no one answered. The signage posted on the window says 4:30, but when a worker walked in after us, he said they dont open until five. I would just suggest to the owner to lock the doors when you are closed. I would think thats standard procedure. Needless to say we arent eating there today, nor any other day.

The flavor was OK...close to authentic. The cleanliness and service was inexcusable. Having lived in NOLA for a few years, I was looking forward to cajun cuisine in Fred...I would have returned if the plates and floor were clean. Additionally, they were unprepared to receive a cash payment for lunch.

As I’ve said before, I this is now my favorite restaurant in Fredericksburg. Each time I come back, I try a new dish and have a new favorite to recommend. I love scallops and order them whenever they’re on a menu, but the best scallops I’ve ever had are at Cafe New Orleans. Simply outstanding.

Had brunch here. The inside was okay. The scent was old. The art was questionable. But the food was flipping DELICIOUS!!! Dont know how it compares to actual New Orleans, but if youre looking for a spot for great breakfast food, this is what you need!

Place was good. I didnt have high expectations, so I was definitely plesantly suprised. I sat at the bar and ordered a chilidog, it was one of the best Ive had. Place was a relaxed atmosphere, and had live music the day we went.
