I almost always get bad service when I visit but I kept coming back for the Irish nachos. My last visit they didnt taste so fresh. Like they were either stale or they were over cooked. When the waitress asked if everything was ok I mentioned to her I didnt like the nachos. That they didnt taste fresh. She responded with "Well he JUST cooked them so....is there anything ELSE I can get for you?" I was left wondering why this girl asked me if everything was ok to begin with and after I said no she pretty much told me too bad. I have to say I wasnt surprised at the bad customer service but I was still furious. Why would I spend money on nachos I couldnt eat when I could have taken the money and spent it at an establishment that had better food AND better customer service! Another time, after I had received my food the waitress never returned. We finished eating and waited for maybe an additional 15 minutes and still saw no sign of her. We ended up leaving the money on the table without even seeing the bill. Every single experience Ive had at this place has not been good but not bad enough to were I would never return. After this last visit, I will NEVER go back.

I am originally from Baltimore; have lived in New England as well as some other states, but have resided in Virginia for twenty plus years now. Additionally, I am an excellent cook and a musician, so that should add some merit to my review. The Colonial Tavern is one of my favorite places of all time! The service has always been excellent; the entertainment, top notch, and the atmosphere is one where you can just kick back and relax like you would if you were entertaining in your own home. I cannot be around second hand smoke, and fortunately, they dont permit it inside, which is a plus. I wish the dancing area were a bit bigger, but then again, maybe that would detract from the coziness, so Ill dance away the night at the Tavern every chance I get and then some! Definitely check it out; if you cant have fun there, you will have a hard time finding it anywhere!

Live music every night except Sundays! open Mic nights on Mondays; the host maintains a strict schedule which makes it fun for both the artist and the guest. Acts passing through on Fridays and Saturdays are excellent performers. Only. $5 cover if there is one on Fridays and Saturdays. Food, beer, and wine selection are all excellent. Everything on the menu is amazing; highly recommend the artichoke dip, fried pickles, and wings in addition to their Irish fare. Excellent pricing. The staff are very pleasant and friendly - theyll know your name before you complete your first visit! Plenty of seating inside and outside. Right in the middle of downtown historic Fredericksburg. Enjoy drinks and the sunset at Brocks then head over here for live entertainment and the excellent food!

A family member reserved "the loft" for a birthday party. I was told they paid nothing to reserve the space other than ordering food from the catering menu (they got a lot of food for the price). They chose to do a cash bar so that was on an individual basis. The food was great, the space was nice, and the bartender was efficient and friendly. I liked that the food, bar, and bathrooms were all upstairs so party guests didnt have to constantly go downstairs. The resturant also has its own parking lot, so thats an added bonus in a downtown area.

Its been 13 minutes sitting here and noone has asked if we needed help. It has been 15 minutes now and The waitress looked and just disregarded us. So we finally called her and asked if we could get some service. She said she would bring menus, it is now 9:05 and no menus, We are out! Horrible service. I used to live in the area and would frequent the tavern. Came back after nine years and everything has changed here. You just lost another customer! You need good service to maintain customers!

Colonial Tavern is our "old dependable" restaurant in Fredericksburg. It has a good beer selection including some Virginia craft brews on draft and food options for both pescatarians and vegetarians. The vegetarian shepherds pie is a particular favorite of mine. Outdoor dining is available on the patio and the bar has comfortable seating. The restaurant also supports the local music scene with a Monday night open mike night and regular live shows.

Ive been here a couple times and its fine, but what brought it from 4 to 5 stars for me is that I was recently here for a birthday party in their upstairs. It is a great venture for something like that!! Its cool looking over the rest of the restaurant, having live music going (at least there was for us) and a bar ready for orders. Anyways, its a good place to have a party like that and the food is good enough too.

We stumbled on the Colonial Tavern after a day in nearby Orange, VA and were pleasantly surprised. We sat outside on the patio and were soon trading quips with nearby tables. Its a very friendly place . . . the potato leek soup is stunningly good, the homemade onion rings are delicately flaky and the Shepherds Pie is a winner. My only caveat - lots of smokers.

Your pretty typical irish pub, except they have live music every day, and all of their food is delicious. Their desserts are made by a local baker. Free trivia Sunday evenings. St. Patricks day is crazy here! Usually cover charge Saturday nights, but well worth it as its usually very popular bands. Try the reuben, have a beer, and listen to great music!

A standard Irish tavern with a large selection of drinks (heavy emphasis on Guiness, of course) and a decent selection of classic Irish dishes. The corned beef was quite good and I also really enjoyed the chicken pot pie. Nightly entertainment that usually starts around 8:30pm is also a great plus. Unfortunately, when I went service was a little slow.

Stopped here randomly with family and had a wonderful time! The staff made us feel like we were regulars. They happened to be having trivia night and gave away great free gifts. Last, the food was phenomenal. The mussels were great and the corned beef with cabbage was to die for! Words of wisdom; the staff gives excellent advice for food!

My favorite hangout in Fredericksburg. The food is great, and theres a good beer selection. The live music on Fridays and Saturdays (and often other nights of the week) brings in some great bands, and Open Mic night on Mondays often reveals an unknown treat. There are less expensive places in town, but you get what you pay for.

Great food and fun atmosphere! Loved the live music and everything Ive tried on the menu has been delicious. I recommend the Corned Beef and Cabbage dish or the Irish Cordon Bleu, and the Shepherds Pie was great too. I hope to go again on my next visit to the Fredericksburg area!

This place is awesome. The service and food is fantastic. You absolutely must try the Potato Leek Soup (get a bowl)! Their desserts are especially delicious. They are made by someone local, and they are different every time that weve been there.

Its great to experience a world class jazz experience where the band plays for each other, and for the purity of the craft. Thank you Bruce Middle for taking me out of space and time tonight. I will definitely return.
