Really had a bad experience at Pizzeria Orso, and its too bad because we really wanted to like the place. The atmosphere upon walking in was very inviting and warm. We got a table and both made trips to the restroom. That is where the interesting things started. While washing my hands, I noticed an employee with apron coming out of one of the stalls. He started to open the door and then saw me looking. He then proceeded back to the sink to wash his hands. Good call, buddy. I suspect you dont do that when there are no customers watching. We proceeded to order mussels for an appetizer and a pizza to share, along with two glasses of wine. When the wine arrived, both glasses were not very clean, and my wifes glass had a ton of lipstick on it from the previous user. We returned the wine and our server brought another glass (clean this time) with wine. The mussels arrived. I commented to my wife how fishy they smelled, but we chalked it up to our imagination and started eating. Bad choice. Clearly, the mussels were bad; they tasted like rotting fish. We both had to spit them out of our mouths. Not good. We commented to our server, who by this time was clearly embarrassed. He removed the mussels. The manager came by and apologized profusely. She asked if we wanted another appetizer, and suggested the clams. Seriously, after eating bad mussels, do you really think we would be interested in clams? We settled on the bruschetta (which by the way was not like other bruschetta I have had. No tomatoes, etc. Tasted okay but not what I expected). Our pizza then came. The topper of the evening: my wife found a black hair in her first slice of pizza. We couldnt take it anymore. As I said, we really wanted to like the place. But it seems that there is no active management or quality control taking place. Maybe a long time in the future we will try again, but back to La Caraquena for us.

For kids, its not a bad deal, their kids pizzas are inexpensive and large, and my daughter loved hers. Unfortunately the rest of the menu makes up for that in price. I got the cheapest entre on the menu outside of pizza, eggplant parmagiano, which came with a portion size that was pretty skimpy. Yes, it also came with spighetti, but the sauce didnt add much flavor. No bread was served to us, and if you want a salad you need to spend at least another 7 or 8 for a half portion of a main salad. My wife said her burger was decent, but nothing special. I suppose if you are going there for pizza alone it probably is a decent choice. Our server was also very nice, but when we got there even though we had reservations, the hostess (who I think was new and just helping out for the first time?) was too frazzled with the computer she was using to even acknoledge our presence for a few minutes - took the main hostess coming over to ask us if wed been served to actually get seated... The food did come very quickly, so that was nice. Personally I would have liked there to be more options for vegans. Im not one, but I try not to eat dairy or red meat, so there wasnt a whole lot aside from salad that I could pick from on the menu...

I am surprised by all the great reviews honestly. I visited Pizzaria Orzo on October 28th 2016 and was not impressed. My family had a reservation, and when we got there the staff had lost the reservation. No big deal I thought when the staff assured me we would be put at the top the list. This was far from the truth. Eventually we were seated after a 50 minute wait and after being passed up by a lot of other customers. I wasnt in a great mood at this point, but I was hungry and brushed the wait aside as my family and I ordered. The reason I will never go back to Pizzaria Orzo again was not the wait, but because their "authentic char" was on the side of burnt. The two personal pizzas ( pepperoni margherita and Orso Di Fumare ) and the chicken calzone arrived black all along the crust and all over the bottom. I have had wood fired pizzas before and they never arrived at my table that black and charred.

Overall, good place to get a nice pizza pie. Brick over, thin crust, fresh toppings. I got a specialty pie (eggplant/lamb/potatoes) and my wife got the Rockfish special. We were both pleased with our meal but there could have been some small enhancements. For one, my pizza crust was a little too soggy for the excess of cheese and tomato sauce. But the taste was very flavorful. My wife enjoyed the Rockfish (seemed very fresh), but it was a smaller portion for its price, we thought. The service was outstanding. Our server was very kind and engaging, always around to answer any questions we had. I would definitely go back and try one of their traditional pies.

I go at least once a month, and that is quite a bit for me. It is a staple around here. The greens in their salads are spectacular, not to mention their superbly done pizzas. Wine selection is okay, not my particular favorites so far, so I would rate that slightly above average. Their small plates change relatively often, which makes my happy since I enjoy everything from the lamb skewers to the steak tartare they have served previously. Great atmosphere, pretty good service, amazing coffee coming from a New York Roaster, I believe. I enjoy it every time we come.

We ordered take out just before closing. The staff was very friendly. I do feel a bit jipped :( I got the shrimp with house made zuccini noddles. Maybe because it was the end of the night they were out of food but I recieved 4 shrimp (one was mushy so 3) and only a couple forkfulls of the noddles. Im ok with small plates if it tastes great but the sauce was watery and bland. Shame because I really want to like this place! No response; 2 stars

Stopped by on a whim and its really good! Real Mozzarella, sauce and the other ingredients were great. Crust was one of my favorites. Service was good, restaurant is clean, plenty of room between tables and open kitchen and oven. Chef send out a complimentary fried pizza dough with olive oil and Parmesan cheese, pretty good! Lights and sign were not lit on the street side so its hard to see it at night. Totally recommend trying this place.

Service was slow and horrible. Food came out in waves, with no rhyme or reason. They failed to bring the appetizer we ordered. The staff were working hard, but they had nowhere near enough people working to keep things running. The food was fine, but not exciting. Portions were small for the prices charged, given the casual atmosphere and on top of the terrible service.

By far the one of the best pizza places in Fairfax county! Absolutely deliciously sweet and flavorful sauce. A thin crust pizza which makes you crave the crust and super fresh ingredients. The other food is not to be forgotten though! Great appetizers and pasta as well! Reasonably priced, so no surprise this restaurant is regularly packed! Will be coming back regularly.
