I live in Falls Church and can walk to Dogwood Tavern...but dont want to. The few times Ive eaten there the food has been totally unimpressive. Last night we went there just because the Nationals ball game wasnt being shown on the local cable channels so we went there to watch it. I ordered the "Hampton Roads Scallop Pasta" which was described this way: "Pan-seared scallops tossed with linguine & a light Saffron-scented white wine sauce." Sounds yummy... but when it showed up I was not happy. There were only THREE scallops accompanying the bowl of linguine (which were way overdone) - for $17. Seriously? I know scallops are expensive but thats just pathetic. Plus, the pasta was covered with diced peppers and capers. (I am not a picky eater but capers are on my short list of things I prefer not to eat.) Youd think they wouldve mentioned the peppers and capers in the description! I used some of the salt and pepper on the table to give the dish a little bit of flavor - which is pretty sad. Um, at least theres a good atmosphere?

my husband and i really enjoy dogwood tavern. weve been there a few times since noticing it one night, and really like it. its always crowded enough to show that its got good food, but not so crowded that you cant get a table. the staff is friendly, the happy hour specials are good, and the food is yummy. this place is quickly becoming our regular spot that we go to when we dont feel like cooking and want a price friendly, tasty dinner. i really like that they offer so many sides - fries, salad, veggie skewer, etc. i wish they had a baked potato because sometimes you want a starch without getting fries. we always have fun at this place. its quiet enough to talk, price friendly enough to get a few drinks, and tasty enough to eat there regularly. we recommend it to all of our friends, and definitely suggest that you try it out!

only thing vegetarian is their garden salad. food is fair .. come here while the sun is still out and stay away from this place during the super bowl season. a bit problematic with the drinkers, the closer to evening hours the worse the atmosphere becomes. sundays before the church goers are released to forage the town is the best time to come. otherwise youll find it cramped, noisy and the service complicated. stick with their trademark dishes such as the oysters, even out of season theyre good. stay away from the wine and beer, swill. the mixed drinks are feasible if you can keep the sever focused on what you ordered.

We love going here after church on Sunday for their great brunch, or other times to enjoy a nice lunch. We have always had a great experience with their food and service. They added additional outside seating out the back of the restaurant. The upstairs portion is nice, but more of a bar with some tables. The downstairs seating is not great since it is basically in the parking lot and fenced off, making this outside area kind of dark. In inside atmosphere can be great in the winter if they have the fireplace going. However, in the summer, the windows are so small and the lighting weak, so it always feels a little dark and not as inviting.

We have a group party of 12, every one show up at different time since 8pm. By 9pm My husband & I arrive. We ask the waitress if we can get separate check, she ask the manager. The man show up in t-shirt unshaven look like he just woke-up in the same clothes he wore the night before. He told us No. I ask is it ok to go to the bar and order just a beer for my husband? and the manager reply was if you do I will take your table away". We were surprise and vow never to go back there ever again.

Anytime my bf and i want a nice place to go, we go to dogwood. weve been there probably 5 times in the last few months and we always take guests when people are in town visiting. Their pecan crusted fish was delicious! we had their wings too which were great. ive also had their salads, chicken cheese steak and more and everytime im never disappointed. the food is really good and the price is just right depending on what mood we are in (cheap burgers or fish/steak). highly recommend it!

Go for the drinks and the atmosphere. Dont bother with the food menu - it makes Taco Bell seem gourmet. Im not a picky eater and love food, but the time I have had dinner at this place, I ended up grabbing a pizza on the way home. Its simply terrible. But, as I mentioned, the atmosphere - especially the upstairs bar - is great and so are the drinks. Ideal happy hour drinking place in Falls Church.

Ive been coming here quite a bit with friends for the past year or so. The food has always been very good in my experiences, great appetizers especially. Its mostly (as the name suggests) a great place to get drinks, wherever you sit the service is good. I highly recommend coming in for a pitcher or two of beer if youre looking for a nice place in Falls Church to grab a drink with friends.

Went here for brunch with a few people. Its a cute tavern in Falls Church. They have front and rear outdoor seating. The food was good. One of our group really liked the quesadilla / potato skin combination. The eggs florentine was yummy. The beer selection had a few good options including from Bells and Heavy Seas. Overall, a nice local spot to grab a bite or drink.

The food here is surprisingly great every time! Inside you can get a quiet table or booth, or sit at the bar or high table, or go out back to a modern 2 level patio area. Great place to eat in Falls Church city. I work across the street and everyone from the office prefers Dogwood to any other restaurant. I think its because of the great food.

Consistently great for brunch, Dogwood has a great menu that is occasionally updated with interesting new items. On the weekends they have a bloody mary bar with a large selection of bloody mary mixes, hot sauces and condiments. They serve a house-made horseradish infused vodka which is the perfect starting point for the bloody mary bar.

Been twice, both times were solid pub experiences. Order: The wings are underrated, some of the best wings in Northern Virginia. Get that and the wedge salad. Wings alone are worth a 5 star. Beer list fairly solid. Where to sit: As mentioned in other reviews, several different spots. Back deck is the best of the bunch in my opinion.

Beer is great. Pretzel and wings are good. Main dishes are big sizes. Chicken pesto pizza is okay. AC was making the place freezing cold. Outside was packed. Reception space was in use for a small crowd having buffet style service and trivia game was happening on the other end of the restaurant. Very busy on a Tuesday night.

My go-to place for fast business lunches with good food. There is something on the menu for everyone. Outdoor seating in the back in nice weather is great - tables are not too close together so you get some privacy. Lots of parking in the rear. Servers are efficient and discrete. A great place for a business lunch.
