Tonight I ordered Shrimp Fried Rice from this restaurant. When I received my food, I realized that none of the shrimp in my dish had been cleaned out. All of them had the dark vein in the back..which is poop. Personally I was repulsed. I called the place back to alert them and see if it was a mistake. However, the woman plainly said that they only take the time to clean out the jumbo shrimp. Which is something that should be advertised if that is the case. To make matters worse, when I questioned that (because honestly I was baffled that they so selectively clean the food) she rudely commented "when you order food you need to call and ask if the food is cleaned." ....Im sorry what? It should not be an assumption that you are ordering dirty food when you order out. Needless to say, I will never bring my business to this establishment again.

We ordered from this place fairly regularly. Last time we ordered, we got home (30 minutes away) and realized they had given us someone elses order, which happened to be shellfish that my husband is deathly allergic to. I called and Weeny said to just ask for her next time we ordered and she would make it right. We just called to order again and I had to relay the previous situation to three different people before they told me Weeny would have to call me back. When she did, (this is now twenty minutes on the phone with four different people) she informed me that I would have to pay for the egg rolls and sodas because we received those last time..... This was the worst customer service I have ever received from a restaurant and we wont be back.

So, I go on line to order dinner for my family. Set it up to be delivered to work on my way out so my food would still be hot when I got home. Ordered food for 4 so with tip and delivery charge it was $60 - on-line says please allow 70 to 90 minutes for delivery so I ordered early enough for the time to work out so that food would be delivered around the time I would be leaving work. My food arrived in 30 minutes. No my food will have to set in my office for an hour before I even get off and then I am 35 minutes from home. Food sitting for 1 1/2 hours is not good!!!!!!! I called back to complain and no one seemed to care. Love this place. My favorite Chinese place but will NEVER order from them again. They just got my last $60.00

We ordered quite a bit of food last night. This was the first time weve ever been to this establishment. Based on other reviews, I decided to pick up my food instead of getting delivery. I waited a very reasonable amount of time, especially for my large order and the food was nice and hot and my order was correct. After getting home and trying all the different things we ordered, it all was DELICIOUS! The recipes and flavor of all my favorite dishes were spot on! Since we dont live here, I have not tried any other Chinese restaurants in town, but I have eaten at many different ones other places and this is some of the best Chinese Ive ever ordered. We will most definitely order from here again! Very happy customers! :)

Decreased number of feral cats linked to The Red Lanterns inception in Charlottesville, VA. Needless to say, ordering from this establishment is not a recommended practice. Exceptionally lengthy order to deliver time (1hour41minutes). Order was wrong, in a less than desirable way. I didnt even bother calling to correct it because so many things had gone wrong at this point. Their white rice was pretty good and fresh, but the order I received (I think it was General Tsos [insert unidentifiable meat here]) was pretty poor, however it made me nostalgic for a time I ate at a 6.99 all you can eat buffet and couldnt leave the bathroom for greater than 5 minute time period for about a whole day.

My order, which I had placed at around 6, took over TWO HOURS to get to my place. I had called them multiple times to let them know—and they lied to me telling me the driver had already left the store a while ago when I *heard* them telling the driver to hurry up and leave. Adding insult to injury, they didnt say sorry or anything when I told them how frustrated I was—and this is coming from someone who is a patient person when it comes to delivery times. If you want an efficient Chinese restaurant, look elsewhere—this is not your store.

I am picky about my Chinese food, so Ive tried four other places in Cville. I also couldnt find one that delivered to my area (Pantops). Red Lantern does and their food was fantastic! Very fresh-I could tell it hadnt been sitting there and getting soggy or greasy. The steamed dumplings and General Tsos were some of the best Ive ever had, and this is Charlottesville, not NYC were talking! Very impressed and will definitely be my go to Chinese place from now on!

Weve ordered a couple things on the menu that ended up just being cabbage slop and boiled chicken. The chicken chow mein was the slop plus a handful of the same crispy noodle bits they serve with egg drop soup. But if you stick to the basics like general tsos and beef and broccoli, its a solid meal, and you can feed two for around $25. They have a few tables, but youll want to carry out. The place is kind of a dump, and they dont really wait on you.

I placed and paid for my order over the phone at 11:52am and my food was not delivered until 1:15pm. My food was cold as ice and for some odd reason they had two different delivery addresses for me. Had 3 different people call asking me what was my address after giving it to them numerous times. It is now 1:24pm and waiting for the owner to remake and deliver. Lets hope they get the right address this time and my food will be hot!!!!! Smh

I understand that every place can have its own share of horror stories, but the food here is the best tasting Chinese food I have ever had. I should know because I travel for work to various cities and when ever I am near I can not help but stop in. Seriously I am so picky about my food and the food here is truly amazing!!!! Just overlook the decor this is an older establishment.

Seriously the BEST CHINESE FOOD For Your Hard Earned Buck in Charlottesville!! Generous portions, Excellent Flavor, and Ive personally had nothing but Positive Experiences with the employees. My usual- General Tsos - All White Meat - Extra Spicy (Perfect Amount of Breading) Pepper Steak - Extra Spicy Combination Fried Rice Cheese Wontons Mm-Mm !! Keep Up The Good Work!!

I live in Pantops and even though there are about five Chinese restaurants within a mile radius, I prefer to go to Belmont for Red Lantern. They use high-quality ingredients like fresh vegetables, no MSG, and the option for all white meat chicken. The lunch and dinner specials are incredibly affordable, and the delivery is fast and friendly. Open til 10:30 too!

They cut corners they shouldnt. As a former chef, l know you should never reduce the quality of your food to save money. They have on more than one occasion taken poached chicken breast that has been refrigerated and used it in a dish that the chicken should be freshly sauteed in a wok. The flavor is wrong, the texture is wrong, and they have lost my business.
