The buffet has changed when the owner changed. I suppose its been 2 years now since the ownership change. The selection is meager and doesnt have the variety it used to have and they charge you more for it. If you go in the evening, go around 6:30 - 7PM. By then the left over lunch food is eaten up by those who eat earlier. Otherwise you will get left over lunch food that is dry and there is less out there to chose from. What bothered us more was the double tipping under the new owners. They automatically factor in a tip if you charge it on a credit card. It doesnt matter if you leave the tip on the table in cash. So if you go pay in CASH then they cant tack on another tip to your credit card. BTW they determine the percentage too! That was very disappointing. I discovered it when reconciling mt credit card statement to the credit card receipts. I ALWAYS leave a tip in cash on the table. ALWAYS! In discussing this with other friends, they discovered the SAME had happened to them! So be aware of that. We also get the impression that waitresses arent real happy there ... since the new owners took over there has been a turn over. Very few remain that we knew and weve been going there for 15 years. I am sorry to say but its not what it used to be. The waitresses tend to rush you along. Its obvious that business has declined. You never have to wait to be seated and the place is usually very empty. When we first went there you had to wait in line to be seated. In a pinch we will go there, pay in cash and hope for the best. Needless to say, we dont go there often. Its a shame. We miss the old East Star Buffet! BTW the "Chinese" food is really an American version and not authentic "Chinese". Overall we dislike the decline we see going on there. (Yes I believe in using paragraphs, however the review doesnt allow for them even with html hard coded in.)

This was the (second) worst experience Ive ever had dining out. Initially my party of three had been promptly seated and had drink orders taken, and we also received two tickets to place our orders. After completing the tickets, we had received our order of appetizers, however we waited for about an hour and still did not receive any food (as other tables who came after us had.) From then, we asked about our ticket on queue and the server went to check on it. When she came back, she requested that we fill out a second one. From that time, we had waited for 45 minutes and still had not received our order. At that point we had to go, so we went to the manager and she made the attempt in lying about our arrival time, and showing us the second ticket (not the first.) She was unable to produce the first ticket with our appetizers and soup. The first ticket was filled out with tally marks; however the second had been filled out with numerically with numbers - and yes, the manager had only been able to produce the ticket with numbers (not tally marks.) The manager still charged us $24 and change because she said that would cover what had been served to us, along with a soda. My partys plates were untouched, as well as the soy sauce dishes with them. Too bad; it was my first time and we tip very well. 20% is standard for us, but 25-35% are also. Money was not the issue here (although $24 would have gotten us way more than we received.) We are working professionals and our schedules could not be tested for more than the 2 hours. I am disappointed, and I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Ive been a frequent customer here and I will never come back because of the poorly managed time I spent on my last visit today. A table for three ordered from the kitchen menu and sushi menu. The kitchen order came quickly with part of our sushi order of four hand rolls. We assumed the two godzilla rolls and the spicy tuna order was still coming but nope. An hour later we asked what happened they made us reorder. Another 45 min came by and you would think they put our ticket on top but nope again. My table decided to leave and talked to the female manager who ignored us the while time while staring at iur clean plates and untouched soysauce. I told her we are only paying for one person for the hot food appetizers and 4 hand rolls. Thats not even enough for an all you can eat. The manager offered to let us take food home but hello it wasnt ordered twice you think we wanna wait any longer. The manager tried to argue the time we came in and said weve been there for an hour. Wow yea nope. Never recommending this place again. Serious clean plates and undipped sushi soysauce are what I was served tonight.

giving this place 1 star is a gift. I wouldnt know if the food was good, because my boyfriend and I were completely ignored when entering the place. We originally wanted to go to sushi palace, but they were crazy packed so we decided to give this place a try even though our friends warned us of how long it took to get the food out. We stood at the hostess stand for about 5 minutes while multiple employees looked right as us and walked away. I looked around for a "seat yourself" sign and didnt find one. on our way out, a guest who was dining there came up to us and said "you arent missing anything! it takes forever for the food to come out and the service is horrible." So, I guess Im glad I didnt give this place my money.

Food is good but not what you would expect for the high price. They have an all you can eat option but it is served on-demand. Order form is provided one each for each order after you finish eating the first order. Each portion is very very small; if you ordered five things on the form youd receive five teeny tiny dishes with tiniest portions possible (except rice) in them. Then you would need to eat it and wait for the form to order more. I thought this was a highly inconvenient way of having a meal. They did not give me an order form after two rounds, although I was told it was all you can eat.

Absolute worst restaurant I have ever been to. The food was such poor quality I cannot believe this place is still open. I was scared to order after tasting the sushi. The fish was old and discolored. Also the tempura items were god awful. To avoid risking illness, we just paid the check and went home hungry. I will never ever go back there and I hope they are shut down for food safety reasons as soon as possible! I had to put 1 star to post this review but they dont even get 1 star from me. Probably -10. YUCK!!!!

I switched to here from Sushi Palace because the quality of the specific things i like are worth the wait for me. Specifically the squid, eel, and mackerel for sushi; grilled squid and hibachi/teriyaki for kitchen. They also go light on the sauces so not to overwhelm the fresh flavor of the food, but it seems thats not what people want and Im already seeing some changes toward the heavier flavoring like Sushi Palace. I suggest ordering from the kitchen as well so you have plenty of stuff to eat while waiting on sushi.
