Their coffee is phenomenal, but thats not the only reason to go back! This place has amazing customer service. I went in there for the first time to buy some beans for a friend. The staff greeted me, seemed genuinely interested in my life, and created an affable and comfortable atmosphere. I went back hours later, and one of the baristas greeted me by name! I was pleasantly surprised that she would remember me after only one visit. Shenandoah Joes local coffee shop vibe is unparalleled.

Good coffee, selection & service. Comfortable environment. Places to sit & internet. I usually have my quota of coffee for the day by 6AM, before these places even open, so I typically make it at home. The last batch I purchased there was ground for auto-drip, flat-bottom basket, but was ground too fine, backed up all over the counter and into every nook and cranny of the coffee maker, so either ask to adjust for a coarser grind, or do it yourself at home.

We came here when the parking situation at the downtown mall kept us from going to Mudhouse. I am so glad we did! Their iced coffee is excellent. It may sound odd to say but, unlike many cafes, it actually tastes like coffee. Their cup-at-a-time pour-over is predictably tasty and the vanilla latte was one of the best we had tasted. On top of the good beverages, their pumpkin muffins are good, also. Some of the best coffee weve had in Charlottesville.

Its not as cozy as their Ivy location, but the chance to watch the magic of coffee roasting more than makes up for the industrial feel of the interior. As usual, the coffee is excellent, even if the selection is intimidating. Shenandoah Joes doesnt brew their coffee in advance, using the pour over method instead, but the extra time is a good thing, because it really brings out the flavors in their impressive selection of international blends.

Great Coffee. And just coffee. No fluff like pastries/sandwiches/etc. You know they love coffee. It comes out in the fresh roasted coffee, the wide variety of coffee origins available, and the care they put into their cup-at-a-time brewing. Very good coffee shop feel. Friendly staff. (The barista even remembered my name.) Plenty of seating for studying/talking/reading/etc. Good parking.

Very good speciality coffee in Charlottesville! Wide selection of coffees from many different origins with knowledgeable baristas that can pull wonderful espresso. All coffee roasted in house, fresh and high quality. Usually plenty of seats and decent internet. The staff is a bit uptight though. Bonus points for the home brew equipment available!

This is easily the best coffee I have had outside of Haiti, D. Selbys house, or sister Zahras house. Off the chart. Great coffee politics (fair trade and organic). The food is minimal and eh, but you dont go there for food; you go there for coffee, to do work, have a discussion with a good friend or all 3.

Moving from Toronto which is riddled with Indy coffee places I thought I would have trouble finding a decent cafe in Charlottesville. Happy to be proven wrong with Shenandoah leading the way. Fantastic coffee with super nice customer service! Comparable to any top cafes in Toronto, NYC, SF or Seattle!
