To all my fellow bus riders: Have you ever been on a bus, gazing out the window, when you see a shop that catches your attention, and you immediately want to jump off the bus even though you dont know where you are/how far away your actual destination is? Thats how I felt about South Block. I didnt actually jump off the bus, as my destination was Virginia Square, and I figured I could work my way back here easily enough. It did end up taking longer than expected to work my way back to South Block though. I had to circle between Virginia Square and Clarendon a few times before I was finally reunited with South Block (I have the worst memory and couldnt remember if I started my trip in Virginia Square or Clarendon). The employee working at that time was very helpful. I asked for recommendations, and I was in turn asked what I liked. I said chicken, and the employee told me everything has chicken: SCORE. That still didnt narrow down my choices though. I then added I love avocado, and I was told to try the Clarendon Classic, which has guacamole. I went through the same process for the smoothies. mentioning I love Mango, but wanted to try something a little "different" (i.e. not Mango Mania). It was then suggested I try Guava Breeze. I was the only person in the store at the time, so I didnt have to wait too long for my order to arrive. I liked that they had magazines for me to read to kill time while I waited for my food. The food itself was definitely scrumdiddlyumptious. The burritos are Chipotle sized, but I could tell South Block is a much healthier option based solely off the tortilla wrapping the burrito. The burrito did immediately fall apart (which never happens with my Chipotle burrito, because that is a mighty tortilla they use) but I dont mind the mess. I just picked up a fork and started eating my burrito from the foiled wrapper. My guava breeze smoothie was also super refreshing, though the bottom of the smoothie wasnt quite so smooth, as I think a chunk of each type of fruit remained at the bottom of my cup (before I ate each piece of course).

Over priced and the smoothies are not healthy. They add ice cream and the "juice" they use for your smoothie comes from concentrate. For the prices they charge, you would think its hand squeezed from whole fruits. Whats the point of paying a premium for below quality ingredients? The employees are rude and not one of them looks to be comsuming any of these "healthy" options. Ive asked several questions and either they have been told to keep tight lipped OR they really dont know anything about the store or the ingredients. The store is small and parking is the biggest hassle since they dont have a lot. You have to park on the street amid all the one way streets and street lights. One star for taste and one for the smoothie makers. They work hard.

In love with this spot. I am so happy theyre open for business and serving amazing juices, smoothies, and clean eats. Everything is fresh and nutritious, and I love that theyre so transparent with the nutrition facts, and ingredients. I suppose its not a problem for them to do that because unlike some juice companies, they actually use real whole foods, and dont inject their stuff with unnecessary sugar. I am in love with the Caveman Green Smoothie and their in-house cashew milk. The first time I went I had two smoothies, and bought a set of their juices to try. I have been buying a weekly supply of my juices from them since then. Definitely a fan and really hoping they expand to more locations, especially in the Tysons/Mosaic area.

This place advertises itself as gluten-free, but it appears to be mostly a buzz word then a real thing. Staff has no idea what items on the menu are gluten-free (the menus arent marked either). The only thing I could eat there (Im gluten, soy and grain-free) is their only salad. Unfortunately I had to eat the salad without the dressing (the only dressing they offer) because it had a bunch of junk ingredients. Not gluten-free either. So much for a "healthy joint".... If it wasnt for the friendly guy at the register (who was convinced that feta cheese is full of gluten :)), Id only give it one star.

I learned about this place from Instagram, of all places. I guess someone had posted a picture of their cold-pressed juices, which intrigued me enough to check the place out. Im definitely glad I stopped by! Im a big fan of their tropi-kale and burner smoothies, but would love to try their acai bowls and breakfasts too! Really cute, cozy place. Cant wait to go again.

I hesitate to write a review about this place because I do not want it to become more crowded than it already is. The acai bowls are just incredible. The juices are great. After finishing my meals, I always feel healthy and happy! Please keep doing what you are doing, South Block. You make life a little brighter!

Not impressed. They add a lot of sugar to their juices and smoothies in the form of agave, and super sweet fruit. The coconut water they use-vita coco, has added sugars. I love green juices, but this place is not healthy by any means. Also, I was charged extra for a substitution, but not informed.

This place is crazy busy on weekends! They have two store fronts side by side, one is more a cafe grab n go pressed juices and the other has acai bowls and smoothies. The acai bowls are refreshing treat during the humid summer days in VA, but they definitely dent your wallet a bit, too.

They are so friendly here and the acai bowls are delicious! I asked for a recommendation of what to get and the guy made me his favorite, but said hed make me something else if I didnt like it. The place is very small and seats are scarce, so you may want to plan to take it to go.

Is it only me, or do you feel healthier just by stepping in here? Their juices are great, although I hate that they do not make them on-site anymore. I recently tried one of their breakfast sandwiches and was shocked by how much food was included.

This quaint corner stop has a plethora of smoothies and light snacks for the health-minded individual. I had a strawberry and banana smoothie. A little pricy at $5.00 but it was delicious and refreshing.

This location is painful. Loud, obnoxious and crowded, especially on weekends. Caveman bowl is good. Everything is pretty high carb, so I save it as an occasional treat. Juice is better at JRINK.

Its a nice place to swing by for lunch. Pretty good selection of wraps and smoothies. I like the Arlington Wrap and the Big Kahuna, although I look forward to exploring the menu further.

I really enjoyed the Lentil Soup and Super Green Smoothie. I also met the owner, a really friendly guy who owns this place and one other small cafe. Overall, good food and decent prices!

If price wasnt a factor Id eat here every day. We have tried many different acai bowls and they are all so delicious. When its gone I feel a little but sad, but also super satisfied.

While the yogurt parfait bowls are ridiculously expensive, they are worth splurging on once in a blue moon. Outdoor seating is perfect for a light snack or smoothie in Clarendon.
