I recently returned to this restaurant after having visited years ago. It was fine then and its fine now. It never made a huge impression on me the first time I went, but the lure of a Valupak coupon brought me and my husband in to give it a try. The food is decent. Not amazing, just decent, and it tasted good. I cant say I would be craving anything there. The service was fine, and I think that our waiter may have been the owner, based on other peoples reviews. He seemed nice enough. This place is not hip or cool - the decor was kind of plain, but I was there for food, not art. Most of the clientele seems to be elderly people - we were by far the youngest people in the place. Decent for the money, but I doubt this will become a regular place with us.

When the worst thing about a restaurant is that its butter is cold and tough to put on the bread, I think things are pretty good. The restaurant is located in the back of an unassuming location and might feel a little worn out at first when you walk in, but the young, friendly staff really made of for that with the quick greeting and service. The meals we ordered had solid portions and tasted great. Definitely worth the prices paid. This must bring in return customers since there were lots of regulars frequenting it in the time we were there. My only issue with the place was how quiet the place was, leaving most tables to eat fairly silently. While were not currently looking for it that often, if Im looking for a quiet night out this is where wed go.

Weve been going there for years. It started out as a wonderful neighborhood almost-gourmet restaurant but I feel its on the decline. There used to be tablecloths, it used to be nicely decorated and well lighted and the food used to be of high quality with unique and varied offerings. On my last visit, I had the hanger steak with a nice pinot noir sauce (mushrooms would have been a nice accompanyment), an awful fried potato thing and three springs of broccoli. I had to return it because Id asked for medium rare and got purple. My friend ordered crab cakes (used to be all meat, fabulous and of good size) and got 2 breaded, small and not fabulous cakes with stone cold potatoes. Very disappointing.

Our family loves going to Portabellos. The owner, MJ, is great at handling my daughters peanut, tree-nut allergy. The atmosphere is light, the service is good, and the food is tasty. This is the kind of neighborhood restaurant you come to celebrate your familys special moments and the staff celebrates with you. Weve eaten there dressed in jeans and dressed in our Sunday best. It is not about pretension so if you are into eating at the newest, fancy, smanzy place that just opened in the area (and wont last for more than a few years) this is not the place for you. This place is about longevity and eating a wholesome family meal together.

Portabellos serves excellent meals. I like the varied selection of dishes of meat, fish and vegetarian if you like. The meal comes with at least one side dish and the sauces and combinations are paired well. I highly recommend Portabellos. Also, the owner is friendly and all the staff are courteous. Meals are served promptly and made to order. The monthly special is a great bargain with 2 entrees and a bottle of wine included in the price.

There food is offensive to even offer my dog. Absolutely disgusting and their is this guy M J who is there that is arrogant and annoying. He got offended and rude when he came over and asked how my meal was and i told him the truth. So 0 for quality of food and 0 for service. By the way he did nothing to our bill when i told him it was bad. Sorry M J but your food sucks

We have eaten here a few times, and have yet to be disappointed. The staff is super friendly (and our waiter remembered us from a previous visit, and where we were sitting before!) and the food is very good. The parmesan crusted cod is amazing, as is the Pistachio Crusted Breast of Chicken. This is one of the best kept secrets of arlington dining.

We went early for dinner and had excellent service from the time we walked in, to the time we left the restaurant. The food options were really nice since we had some who wanted burgers and others that wanted seafood, another wanted pasta, and another wanted a salad. Carlyles menu accommodated us all!

The waiter that attended us was extremely rude and mainfested crude xenophobia towards me. Food was not good enough to make up for the poor service, also too pricey. Very disappointed, I was in the area on vacation.

I have loved this wonderful restaurant for years. It is consistently good, you always feel welcomed & appreciated as a customer, & you can enjoy conversation in an unrushed atmosphere. A real gem !

A once-very good restaurant that lost its chef and lost its charm. Very pricey for dishes prepared by guys who follow pictures taped up in the kitchen.
