Yechon is the place to go if youre craving meats at 3 in the morning. Open 24 hours 7 days a week, Yechon serves both Korean and Japanese cuisine to a diverse crowd. It seems that no matter what the hour, it always seems to be bustling. Thankfully, their parking lot expanded because this is one of the smallest lots in Annandale. Parking used to be such a pain, as people desperately fought for precious spaces. It doesnt help that Breeze Bakery is next door and is also open quite late, catering to folks who like to gather and/or study for hours. Theyve expanded a little bit more, so now theres more parking available but I still think it can be a struggle. Whenever I go to Yechon, I usually get their Korean BBQ. KBBQ can wildly vary here, from being ehh to being pretty good. I think it depends on what kind of grill youre getting the meats cooked on. The restaurant has both built-in grills and the portable stoves, and I think that food cooked on the portable stoves lead to inferior taste. My favorite meats are samgyeopsal (thinly sliced pork belly) and chadolbaegi (brisket beef). Banchan is provided too. I think as Im getting older and metabolism dwindles to nothingness, Im appreciating restaurants like Yechon more where its no AYCE option. In the past, it seemed ridiculous to even consider going to Yechon when places like Kogiya served tastier, higher quality meats at an AYCE option and for significantly less money. However, provided that their meat quality is actually decent (again, seems to vary depending on when you go), I think Yechon is an ideal choice for those who cant devour AYCE like before. Service seems pretty consistent. The servers (all women) dress up in traditional Korean garb and for the most part, they are friendly and efficient. While I dont prefer Yechon, it is a suitable alternative to some of the other Korean BBQ joints in town. And definitely one of the only options open late at night.

Ok get ready for the worst customer service ever! The manager of this dump allowed the server to come out to the parking lot and harasses me and my girl because I gave him a 5% tip! Why would I do that you may ask? I operated 6 restaurants including bonefish grill, Peter Chang, and Sushi king in my life time. I give 20-40% tip every time I go to eat. The server tonight had a horrible attitude, never smiled, say no to every requests that I made then embarrassed me in front of my girl friend. I had $800 in my pocket but only gave him a 5% tip because he did not deserve it! He then came at me outside aggressively, kept stepping forward to get in my face. Then he cussed at me while trying to damage my brand new mustang GT! To protect my girlfriend and myself I had to reveal my handgun for self defense purposes for him to back off! All that for a couple of dollars!! Lay off the crack pipe bro! Mr manager of Yechon, I will never come back again doesnt matter how late you guys open. This nameless prick works during the graveyard shift for a reason, he probably didnt survive anywhere else! Worst customer service, worst management for allowing a server to chase his guests and act this way! You guys are lucky that he didnt swing at me like he was about to. I would have had a nice pay out in court!

I will agree with most people in saying that the food is solid. Its not unreasonably priced, the location is open 24 hours, and its pretty good food. What ruined my experience is the service. I understand that a place is crowded and your servers and bussers are busy. I understand that your staff is primarily composed of people not native to the states. What is absolutely not acceptable is poor service. I came in as a group of five around 9:30ish and was rushed on ordering, was treated rudely when requesting for another drink after it had been 10 minutes since the last one, and had been ignored when trying to order another item. If that had been it, I wouldve just written it off as a bad day at a korean owned join in the korean part of town. However, after tipping what I believed the employees had deserved (10%ish, and I was being generous), I was asked if my experience was poor. I told the lady that everything was decent but not great. She then proceeds to tell me that its a mandatory 18% tip and that I didnt tip enough. Thats an outright lie, and I took my items and left. I will take my future business elsewhere.

Because the restaurant is open 24/7, a group of friends and I decided wed go after a night out downtown. The place was clean but the music was out of place. Im not sure Rae Sremmurd is what youre supposed to hear blaring over the sound system. Service was attentive for the first five minutes we were there but thereafter it went downhill. It took them 10 minutes to take our order. After someone looked like they took our order, a second person came out to take our order again. I asked someone how big the Bulgogi portion and our waiter told us with an attitude that it was only for one person. The portion itself was big, which was good, but he clearly lied. We sat with empty water glasses for more than five minutes at a time. The bulgogi itself wasnt worth coming back for either. After we were all clearly ready to go it took a third person to notice and even after putting our money with the receipt it still took the staff a long time to notice that we were waiting for them to pick up the check. It took another extra five minutes to process the payment. Crap service. Mediocre food.

Theres a reason this place is always full and its open 24 hrs. We live in DC, but drive out here because the food is worth it. Despite being permanently busy, theyre efficient and wait times arent long. Theyve expanded their parking lot, so that isnt an issue anymore. We love ordering the bibimbap, bulgogi, Doenjang Jjigae (soybean paste stew), naengmyeon (cold noodles). They have great complimentary side dishes (banchan) too. Pretty much anything you order here is delicious! We used to introduce our American friends to Korean food at Honey Pig because they play kpop (Korean pop music) videos and are very bbq-centric (at individual tables. Yechon also does BBQ at tables too), but now we only go to Yechon. We also like to stop by the Korean bakery next door, Breeze Bakery Cafe for dessert (yummy melon popsicles) and Korean baked goods, then go grocery shopping at the nearby H-Mart and Lotte. Also Lil Thingamajigs is a nearby fun place to buy Korean hair accessories, socks, school supplies, etc.
