I feel bad saying that the food was merely "Good," but its only the truth for my wife and me. The restaurant itself was very clean, orderly, and pleasant. The staff was very, very friendly. Service was some of the best weve ever received. They refilled our drinks immediately and without asking. They cleared plates at good times. The food came out quickly and was fresh and hot. They were out of menus when we arrived because they had a party of thirty arrive before us, but they were very apologetic and got us menus after a couple minutes--not a big deal at all, and they did the right thing. We have no complaints with the service. The food, however, was... lackluster. The best thing that came to the table was my wifes Tomato Basil soup. This was excellent. It tasted fresh, well seasoned, delicious. I, however, got the salad with the gorgonzola vinaigrette. It wasnt bad, it was very mild. The vinaigrette tasted like vinegar and it came with a hard, pale tomato and mozzarella and chick peas. With the exception of the tomato, everything was fresh, but rather boring. I was looking for that gorgonzola flavor. The entrees were similarly fresh and hot, but not as palatable. I had the carbonara, which had, literally, about a pound of chopped pancetta. If you like pancetta, and its by-product, salt, get this dish. Im a self professed salt fiend, but this knocked me out. I quickly took to eating only the noodles. The peas, egg, noodles--everything was mostly eclipsed by salt. My wife got the lasagna and we both loved the sight of it--big portion, large sausage. It turned out to be rather mushy overall. I have been to Italy, but I didnt have lasagna while visiting. Maybe this is how its supposed to be. The marinara was very tasty, however. The sausage had good flavor, but was also a bit... mushy. My wife thought the marinara was too thick and the sausage was too bland. We may go back to try the pizzas. We want to give them another chance. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes.

I generally dont leave reviews, but our experience was so contrary to the current high rating, I had to do something. To give some context, I ordered the Veal Marsala, and the tomato basil soup. My wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan, so I cannot speak to their pizzas or other dishes. I will say, however, that everything we ordered was vastly disappointing in one way or another. My meal started with the tomato basil soup. As with everything else in Fratellis, the presentation was top notch. While the soup looked nice, it tasted watery, acidic, and had no hint of basil. I am used to a smooth, almost velvety, tomato basil soup, so the raw acidity of the tomatoes was overwhelming. This tasted as through they had opened a jar or crushed red tomatoes, and warmed it up. The meal continued to the Veal Marsala, which again had very nice presentation. However, the carrot garnish was nearly raw. The veal was overcooked to the point of being chewy, tough, and unappetizing. Furthermore, both the mashed potatoes and veal were bland. The breading on the veal was under-seasoned, as were the cutlets themselves. As for my wifes dishes, she was equally disappointed. The chicken parmesan came in a HUGE dish. However, there were only two small pieces of chicken in the bowl. The chicken was at least seasoned, and not overcooked. The massive bowl of pasta was drenched in their marinara sauce. Like the tomato basil soup, the sauce was highly acidic, and lacked proper seasoning. In short, I would put the quality on the same level as the fast food Italian places that pop up in mall food-courts. The presentation was nice, as was our waiter, but not nice enough to save our experience.

Honestly not worth a one star, We got there at 7:30, an hour and a half before close, Keep in mind its Valentines Day, and me and my fiancé were trying a new restaurant, and hoping for a good dinner. So, we ordered our drinks, they came out, and then placed our apatizer order of the calamari, which isnt worth the 10$. It came out 15/20 mins after we ordered it, then the waitress who was the worst waitress Ive ever had anywhere, told me theyre out of what I ordered, and asked if Id like anything else, I told her I didnt remember the menu so Id need to see one, she brought one over and I ordered again, it seriously took them tell 845 to get our meal out, and I had to ask out waitress if they served bread, because I noticed all the other tables had some, she told me they were out but shed check for me, came back with some bread and said they had some and the bread was HORRIBLE, totally burnt and not edible. Then as we were using our gift cards to pay for our meal, she asked us how we wanted to pay, like if we wanted to use half of the card now, and half later and then asked us if we wanted it back, our total came to 55$ for 2 dishes of pasta and a Italian soda and a beer. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME HERE. I wont go again.

NOTE: if you like sausage and meatball, ask for The Vinny at lunch. Costs a little more but WOW its a great sandwich! Its not on the menu so you have to ask for it. Theres a reason this place has all the stars & awards from City Weekly on the wall. The food is all made in-house by one brother while the other is the "front man". I understand why Olive Garden italians wouldnt get it but from a real New York Italian guy, this is real darn good Italian food! UPDATE: 4 years later and still going to Fratelli regularly (almost every Friday night). Still loving the food, the family atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant. Still not understanding some of the reviews but assume theyre still used to Olive Garden; what I affectionately call the Walmart of Italian food. I know the chef goes to Italy almost every year to stay on top of trends and his learning curve. The drink and wine lists are kept up to date regularly. This is still THE place to go for me and my friends. Of all the business lunches, dinners, wine pairing dinners, events and holiday, there hasnt been anything but positive feedback from every person I introuduce.

I expected more from the beautiful inviting restaurant. We definitely had a new server, so a few minor hick ups like no water served after we asked for it, etc. But he was kind and new so no big deal. The menu was a typical fancier Italian style menu. I ordered the veal and was not impressed. It was swimming in sauce and the season they used was so overkill that it took away from the dish. Not authentic Italian... The mashed potatoes and carrots were good. My husbands lasagna was soaking in very acidic marinara sauce, however lasagna was good. The presentation was beautiful, the ambiance great, so maybe we will try again. Guessing the chef was maybe not there? I have a culinary background and would like to say that "less is more" when it comes to herbs, sauces, & seasonings. This place has great potential, and hopefully they will look at the past reviews objectively and make some changes to the food. I will try one more time.
