Upon completion of an otherwise enjoyable experience (my first at your establishment) I was shocked and surprised Sunday to discover that your restaurant takes only cash. In order to pay my bill the owner directed me to the cash machine where I was forced to incur a $2.50 fee. No doubt you profited on my ATM transaction. 99% of American restaurants pay merchant fees (far lower than the $2.50 on my $20) inorder to process and take credit and debit cards for the convenience of their customers. Many restaurants not only grow their business but thrive and open new stores, so why cant you? I can think of one reason; its a lot easier to run two sets of books and avoid paying Federal and State taxes when you are running an all cash business. If that is what is going on here, I more than hope you are sent to prison where you belong. I looked the owner in the face and told him I will never come back to his restaurant again. He didnt seem to care. Apparently the loss of a customer, and a vocal one at that, bothers him less than paying 5-10% to process customers credit cards. In this day in age thats a basic cost of doing business. If you cant recognize the value or see the potential loss from not being able to provide that convenience to your potential and existing clientele you dont deserve to be in business. I suspect if the law allowed youd remove the bathrooms too. PLEASE DO NOT FREQUENT THIS ESTABLISHMENT

You have to seat yourself, and when I walked in there were not any tables. Others came in while I was waiting and tried to go ahead of me to get a table. It was very frustrating to have to watch so carefully for a table and then to have to literally rush to get to a table first so that others who got there after you wouldnt take it. The waiting area got so crammed and chaotic I almost left. Also, when I was finishing, before I even stood up one of the servers put new place settings down for another couple at my table and they rushed me to finish so they could sit down. It was very uncomfortable. I asked them if I could please have time to at least leave a tip and get my things before they sat down. The servers seemed rushed and busy. The food was okay. I probably wont go back because it was so uncomfortable having to rush to finish my meal and also not having any organization to the seating. It would be better if they put your name on a list and sat people in order of who arrived, rather than making customers wait and hope they get a table.

This was my first time going to Over the Counter. It was recommended by 2 separate people. This place is not good. It amazes me that it is so busy. When they say home style breakfast they arent joking. Everything is made from the cheapest ingredients from the frozen concentrate orange juice to the water pitchers being filled from the mop sink in the furnace room. Even their "Greek Omelet" with the McCormick taco seasoned ground beef was just like mom used to make. Of course she made $6/hr and supported 8 kids. The trainwreck was just that. The freshest thing served today was the cheap sliced sandwich cheese. It amazes me that people dont know what real food is supposed to taste like. If you want a great breakfast go to Lazy Day Cafe down the road. Its real, its fantastic, and its cheaper.

open every Day of the week with awesome food, seat your self and within a couple seconds a waiter is there serving you water and taking your order. It is a busy place but you can always find a seat the food is very good size portion and it comes out very quickly no long waiting. I love this place and especially that they are open on Sunday my recommendation is order a chai which comes in a a cup the size of a soup bowl and the train wreck its everything you want for a Sunday brunch smothered in gravy. Keep up the good work you guys Ive never seen such a happy staff in such a busy restaurant.

I flippin love this place. Its my favorite place to eat in SLC. In a city where restaurants try to be all hipster and unique and their foods are weird, we love OTC for its no nonsense menu. The servers are amazing and learn your name and are very courteous and friendly. The cooks too are really cool. If people whine about long waits here on the weekend its cuz the restaurant is popular for a reason. The food is awesome. The French toast is literally the best Ive ever had in my entire life. And Im like 300 years old. So.

I love this place. It is my go to breakfast place. great breakfast potatoes are a must, and this place has them. Everything I have ever tried here is great. The portions are reasonable. Not too big, a lot of food, but not so much that if you decided you were going to eat all of it that youd hate yourself for the rest of the day. Good coffee. Pleasant staff. My only beefs with them is that I usually get there for 1 pm, and they usually close around 2, and the restroom is freezing. Other than that, theyre excellent.

Best hollandaise Ive ever had. Try the Holly omelette, "piled", over easy. Very fresh and very fast. Also, the prices are the best. They pool tips too so everyone is your server. Very happy staff. Feels like stepping into 1950, even though I have no clue what that was like. Very relaxed environment and you seat yourself so you cant go wrong with that. I like to sit at the counter so I can watch the cooks work. These dudes have hustle. Thanks Amy and Jeff for having the best spot in the city. Keep up the good work.

We went here on a busy Sunday and you seat yourself so we had to wait a few minutes before a table opened up but the delectable food was definitely worth it! The menu is pretty extensive but we decided on the western omelette and eggs benedict and were not disappointed. The service was prompt and we got our food pretty quickly even though it was busy. Id recommend ordering anything that has bacon in it and their home fries. We will definitely be back to try the trainwreck and their other specials!

We just opened Google Maps and picked a new place nearby. We were skeptical but the reviews were good. Wow! We loved it. My husband raved about the cheeseburger and I loved my turkey sandwich. The coffee was fresh and tasted actually good. The service was great. Very friendly and attentive. I cant say enough good. They have a straight forward comfort food menu and the food actually tastes like it was cooked at home. Best.

People love this place, but it is "rough" food on my tummy...their potatoes are waaay better than "esoteric" Roots Cafe down the street, Ill give them that! Otherwise Roots is my local place of quality choice...better eggs, better bacon, and vastly improved service over last year...this place is quantity over quality...and odd seating is not comfy...not trendy, and not classy.

Went on a Friday around Noon, was seated in less than 20 seconds. Had my order placed in 3 minutes and received it in less than 10 minutes after ordering. Staff was extremely fast and friendly. My drink never hit empty. Hands Down the Best Breakfast Ive ever had. I will definitely be coming back more than once the next time Im in Utah.
