Good overall, unique, local hangout, free wifi which is fairly reliable and overall friendly staff with a couple exceptions. Most of the workers are relatives or friends of relatives so they tend to care about pleasing customers and keeping the place running well. The owners are extremely nice to their friends who often come in and occupy the premium seating. However if you dont know the owners personally they can come across as snobby and sometimes grumpy. More than once I came in when there was only 1 table available so I took it, only to be asked (after setting up my computer and opening up my study materials and food) to move to a smaller table. I was treated like I was intentionally occupying more than my fair share of space when I simply sat at the only available table when I came in. So there I was being talked to by the owner in front of all the other customers as if I was some kind of bother. So I had to gather all my matierals and food and move to a tiny table in the back room. No fun. That has actually happened more than once. So if you are in good with the owners you will be given special service. If you are just a run of the mill paying loyal customer, you may not receive the same service by the owners. However most of the other workers are extremely friendly and personable. The coffees have a funny taste to me so I generally order the hot tea. The pastrys look good and are OK, but they have a "day old" feel/taste to them. They are brought in from somewhere and sit in the case for days sometimes before you buy them. All that said I still love the place and go there often. Hopefully the owners will start to undertand the value of treating all their customers with the same level of service. Untill then I will keep hoping that when I walk in I find one of the spunky, funny, and friendly workers that are usually there.

Extremely high quality on all points. Excellent customers, no smoking usually outside, tiny space and patio keeps the trashers away. A good Christian family owned and operated place, from what I gather. Large drink menu, excellent cakes and muffins but no real food options, which is nice because it makes for quick service. A proper small independent coffee shop. The only thing that detracts is the strip mall location, but its actually the nicest strip mall in the entire area, tucked back in there like a secret spot, and I have never had an issue there in many years of hanging out on the patio with my little dog. the owner has an excellent jazz band that plays there on sundays, and i think free drink upsize on tuesdays? No reason not to make this your special place too! "Almost dont want to tell too many people about it".

This is not a family friendly place. The owners are elderly and are often there. They have a very short temper when it comes to children, even in the patio areas. If you have anyone in your party who could make a sound over normal conversation I would suggest going elsewhere. They went out of their way to make me feel uncomfortable after getting my child a chocolate milk. It was frustrating and made a happy moment into a sad one. There were other people laughing loudly on the patio but we were the ones asked to leave and I do not feel that we were making any more noise then they were. I guess they cater only to students and older adults. I went there often as a student but apperantly that counts for nothing. We will never go there again.

I travel around the southwest from San Diego, LA, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara etc. Gold Bar Espresso is a one of a kind place. Not only is the coffee a one of a kind (from a little coffee roaster in Oregon) to "Mochas" with Ghirardelli chocolate that are the best in the west. It has all been said before, great service, friendly, relax atmosphere, music Friday, Saturday, Sunday morning and night. Game night Saturday night for the family and die hard gamers. Just no other place like it. Yes you can purchase cheaper coffee elsewhere, but at Gold Bar you get your moneys worth. No out of the can coffee, ground fresh and brewed several times a day. Well worth the extra dollar.

My father and I had gone to Goldbar this past Friday, we had heard that there was jazz and we were right! The musicians were fabulous and the cafe owner was actually playing the Tenor sax. I ordered a spiced chai and it was wonderful, the cafe even gives a discount if you order your drink in a mug. Apparently Sundays are where the really good music is at and they have a DJ from Kjazz come and play sax and the band is a lot fuller. I really had a great time listening to the live jazz and enjoying a well made chai, which is often hard to come by. The only thing I missed was asking where the name, Goldbar came from! I will be sure to ask next time. Thanks Goldbar!

Best Coffee Around. I go to ASU so I am constantly looking for good coffee. The places around campus are all garbage compared to Gold Bar. The help is friendly and honest. If you ask about a particular blend or seasonal, they will let you know if they like it or not, which is refreshing. Pies look amazing but have yet to try them. The only other place that came close was Cherubini, but they shut down, so now I am loyal to Gold Bar. Only beef is they are only open until 11.

Gold Bar has a wonderfully home-y ambiance -- a great place to study when you live alone like I do and need a quiet place that still has people around it. Very nice staff (one barista introduced herself to me and asked my name), good prices (a small cup of coffee -- looks to be 8-12 oz. -- is $1.35 or so), and good pastries (Ive had the eclairs, quiches, and danishes and liked every one).

One of my favorite coffee shops on the planet. Great coffee, excellent teas, some funky drinks and super nice people with a great vibe. This place is perfect for hanging out with a friend and it is a great place to get some work done while enjoying a great coffee. The owner is super nice. Support your LOCAL coffee shop. This is one of the best, for sure.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. I was recommended a snickers mocha and after tasting it, I hated it. After taking a couple more sips, I threw it out. About an hour later, I was feeling terrible stomach pains and I would not stop burping. After 4 hours, I am still feeling terrible and I have a feeling I will throw up soon. Never going there again.

Never even got to order. Someone stood at the counter for 15 minutes. Not sure what all was happening, figured after 5 I would sit and wait. Never got to order left after 20 minutes. Maybe they ordered so many coffees that the 3 people working behind the counter couldnt keep up? Only gave them 3 stars because it was warm and cozy inside.
