Hate giving 1* for a restaurant but would have to say this was by far the worst tasting food Ive ever eaten. All the food is bland and and just doesnt have that Asian flavor you think you would get from a Chinese restaurant. For a buffet you would think you would smell the food when you walked in but that wasnt the case here, it had a very strange funky smell. The service was ok if you like waiting for your ice to melt just to get another swallow of watered down tea. I had to ask my waiter every time I needed a drink. I ended up just getting a salad after not liking any of the food and even the ranch was sour tasting. Needless to say I will never be bringing my family back here! 31 dollars just down the drain because non of us ate but just a few bites of this disgusting food. Stay away!

Dont go late at night. They wont bring no fresh food out. I have a seafood allergy. All the chicken items were gone, and other non-seafood items. I had to ask the lady attending the buffett if they had any more food that can be brought out. At first, the lady acted like she was ignoring me. I had to repeat myself, and ask again. I went to the manager of the place to tell her that they didnt have much on the buffett line that I can eat, and if they had anything. Her English is barely comprehensive to her that I dont think she had a clue of what I was saying. She brings out a pan of the driest enchiladas that they could find. It was not appetizing at all today. I am so disappointed with China Cafe today! It will be a while before I come back here!!

Overpriced Chinese buffet pretty much sums it up. The only high point to our visit was the salad bar. For a Chinese buffet, it was pretty good. The food was blah though. Not horrible but nothing special in the least. The sushi was very disappointing. I probably eat at a Chinese restaurant once a week on average and I have visited Chinese restaurants from Galveston to Tyler (4 in Tyler alone). This was my second worst experience. They really need to bring their buffet items current and jazz up the sushi a bit with a variety of traditional style and Americanized items. I dont see this place lasting too much longer with the other Chinese buffets around town offering better food at the same or lower price.

Had a really bad experience my mother is very allergic to any kind of fish seafood etc..an no where was it posted that they fry everything in the same oil as we were told by our waitress an confirmed by the lady who took our money when we paid after leaving 15min after getting there due to mother having allergic reaction. Who then said it was our fault for not telling anyone then said we were lieing and trying to get a free meal being incredibly rude while my dad talked to her with the money for the bill in his hand. It was horrible IV never been so irritated for suggesting they post something to stop it from happening to others they treated us like crap

Once again, as I look at the reviews for this place I see the people of Tyler continue their unbroken string of no taste and no class. This Restaurant is one of the best for Asian food in Tyler, for overall quality and value. They have a wide variety of dishes and sushi - all are kept fresh and prepared well. I have eaten here for years so this in a overall review. Like any buffet style restaurant this one gets hit hard at times. If you go during a large rush period expect the lines to move slower. Overall a great place with a pleasing oriental atmosphere, friendly staff and good tasting food.

I love Chinese food and can even handle the occasional subpar restaurant, but this place was a huge disappointment. The food at noon (lunch time!) did not look fresh at all. The soups had a gross haze to them, the noodles looked like yesterdays left overs, and even the fruit was dry! I havent even paid yet but I know Ill be upset once I see what I owe for this horrible lunch. Hopefully the to go ice cream cones are ok. I mean....how can you mess up ice cream?!

Do not recommend. ...food was very bland and cold. Did not seem to be cooked correctly, rice had no taste and was soggy. Although, the enchiladas were quite tasty as the cooks were Hispanic. Suggest using chinese cooks for the Chinese food. Reasonably priced and waitresses were good and friendly. Needless to say, Ill still be looking for some good chinese food in Tyler.

I went around lunch time and the food taisted old. They cooked the noodles with spagetti noodles. I was so dissapointed. I havent gone in a year and wanted to try it out. That used to be my favorite place to get chinese. And they over charged my plate even tho it was not heavy or full. I will not be going back unless they change it up. SMH

We dont usually comment on the places we try, but bottom line is, this place sucks! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! The food is bland, dry and didnt appear to be cooked right. The ONLY things that were good were the Beef Enchilada and Tamales. So save yourself some money and go across the street to Mercados. I cant believe this place is even open.

Worse food Ive had besides sweet Sues. You couldnt tell if the meat was chicken pork beef. For all I know it was coon and possum. Mushrooms and everything else was oily. Fried food was hard enough to break your teeth.. Dessert was terrible. Lesson learned. I will not be going back. Smelled like sewage

The food on the buffet was fresh and tastefully selected. The flavors were what you expect from good Chinese food. The waitstaff were friendly and discreet, so you didnt have to worry about tripping over them or being interrupted in your conversations. All in all, a great dining experience.

Food is good and all but I dont appreciate their small takeout boxes. $10 for a $1 box. You cant get your moneys worth because of the size of the boxes and they have the nerve to charge you $6 more if the box doesnt close. Ridiculous.

Server was slow on refills and clearing table...very polite though... Salad dressings wasnt labeled and pineapples were from can... not fresh.. The Sesame Chicken was awesome didnt really like the artificial crab meat though

I love this place its always so Quiet. I come here at an off time but the service is wonderful and prompt. The price for food is always great, you get a lot of food for the price. I really enjoy China Cafe.

Theyre crooks!!! I was there before 3:20pm and when I got my receipt they had charged me for dinner instead of lunch. Not to mention there was hardly any fresh food on the buffet. I WONT BE BACK!!!

Please dont waste your money! The food is very bland, and cold. Once I complained the workers began taking the food off the line and reheating it. I wont be back...and if you go you wont be either

Pretty good food but not the best Ive ever eaten. The food appeared to be sitting there a little longer and the food as a result was not as good as it could have been were it fresh.
