Rookies is not really a sports bar in the traditional sense. Without HDTVs and the TVs they do have in some weird locations along without many of the sports pacakges, you probably wouldnt want to there to check out a game that isnt available on basic cable. What they do have is good food and drink specials. Daily drink specials and really good food in on the menu. The food is better than your normal bar food. The biggest downer is the service. During the day the bartender usually has to make drinks, take food orders, and deliver the food when ready. Also, like many smaller bars, if you arent a regular and have an established relationship with the staff, you might get poor service. I have seen waittresses chatting it up with customers while their table sits waiting for service. Sitting at the bar can remedy this, but shouldnt be the case. Cool place with the service issues really holding it back from being a really good place that could gain some mass appeal as there isnt much competition in the area. In the end, it still is a cool place to hang out, but go in knowing that service may not be the greatest.

The new manager talks to women terrible. Also heard some compaints on sexual harassment. Im surprised he has been hit with a suit yet. Also, in top of that he treats. Customers terrible and they way he speaks to people, everyone is complaining about it. Im not going back any more and my husband doesnt want me to go back because of how he treats women. So many people are going else wheres, who have been going to rookies for so many years. I guess the owners or okay with how the business is losing profit, not a smart business move having that new manager there.

My husband and I rate Rookies "hands down", the best hamburger we have had (so far) in Texas ! Service could be better but what makes this place ,"not so inviting", is the twenty-something guys tailgating in front of the place! I was willing to go back a second time just for the food! ( which was as good as the first time). Something isnt right with owners or management, way more guys than girls! I wonder if its the "tailgaters" out front deterring business! No females, even in a group, want to get out of there car when they see this as they walk up!

The only good thing about this place is that they play all the games so im not forced to just watch Texans or Saints games...I sat through the entire game that I was watching and no one asked me if I needed any help...the waitress served two tables on either side of me and BOTH of those tables sat AFTER me...I had to sit there and watch servers eat, talk to each other or have their faces buried in their phones...terrible, terrible, terrible service...I will NEVER return and highly recommend that people not patronize this establishment.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Wait staff took a while to come to the table and when they finally came over I was refused beer by the "manger" which was never seen at the table. I was told that the manager did not feel "comfortable" giving me service?? At first I thought it was a joke due to the fact that I had NOT consumed any alcohol as of yet...? But they were serious! The management staff is a JOKE! I advise everyone NOT to waste their time.

I came here on a whim on a Saturday afternoon. I was pretty surprised. I walked in to a dimly lit restaurant/bar and was a bit worried lol. Ordered a burger with seasoned waffle fries. DELICIOUS. PROS: huge portions, friendly waitress, cheap cold beer, plenty of TVs. CONS: REEKED of cigarettes since its outside of Houston Smoking Ban reach. I would go back though!

Sports bar but using old technology (audio/video) food is decent always comes out hot. Drinks are decently priced with good happy hour. Bartenders are assertive but the cocktail/waitresses could use some work. On a sad note is if you dont smoke this place is can get pretty smoky real quick, but then again Its a bar.

I went to watch a football game, and LOVED my experience! Apparently in 2009 their service wasnt the best, but thats changed now! My server was fantastic and the food was amazing. The prices were really good as well. It definitely had a sports bar feel with plenty of TVs.

Way over cooked and WAY over spiced and payed way to much for them. Im sure half of my 3lbs was left in the tails cause they broke off before you could get them out. You had to peel it all the way to the bottom just to get them out. Not happy with them at all.

This is a great local bar. Some live music mostly just a good place to have a drink or two and socialize with friends. The food isnt that bad either. They are always looking to impress the customers. Just like the crawfish every year and many other foods.

Been coming here for years; excellent food and the grilled chicken sandwich is the best anywhere. Recent upgrades to floor, appearance and ventilation were much needed and are greatly appreciated. Still the best place for UFC fights.

Only Steelers bar in northern Houston as far as I can tell. Classic dive sports bar w 4 pool tables and good seating for viewing TVs. Allows (and apparently encourages) smoking.

I would say this is your average sports bar...that allows smoking inside. Not my preference so points off for that. The beer was cold and the food was good.
