A couple of months ago, my date and I walked down to Drexel House from my apartment around 8pm on a Friday. We figured it would be nice to try something new... We ordered two glasses of wine, each $12-15 range, the kale salad, and a margherita pizza. We asked the waiter for a recommendation and he said that all of the pizzas were good, so we ordered the margherita because we had read good reviews, per Yelp. The pizza was great - very flavorful sauce, thin crust, and the right amount of cheese. The funny thing was that when we were done, the waiter was like "NEXT time you should get the pizza with the pears on it - its the best one we have, even though it sounds weird." We were baffled as to why his recommendation came after the meal, instead of when we asked... The kale salad was something that I could have made at home - lightly dressed with a simple vinaigrette, finely chopped curly kale, pine nuts, and a shaving of Parmesan. Not worth $11, and certainly nothing to rave about flavor-wise. Then came the bill - after the minimal order, the total came close to $90. We were STUNNED. They had charged us OVER $50 for the TWO GLASSES of wine! We could have had a whole bottle for less than that amount! And, there was nothing on the menu indicating that the wine we ordered was a lesser pour than a full glass or that the price on the menu was for a lesser pour than a full glass. When the waiter came to pick up the bill, my date said "It looks like you took liberties with the wine order; it should have been somewhere from $12-15 per glass." And then the waiter said he would "see what [he] could do", and came back with absolutely no explanation except for "this is the price" and our card had been run for the full amount. A little bit of clarity and communication could have taken this review from 1-star to a possible 3-star. Alas, we will not be returning to this restaurant.

My coworker and I chose this place for our lunch outing. We were seated, the waiter brought us our drinks and we ordered. I ordered the Kale Salad with salmon and my coworker had the Sweet Caroline pizza. I wish we could we enjoyed our lunch but we did not. After our food was brought to us we were never helped again. We ate our meals without water or refills. NOT ONE WAITER asked if we needed anything else. We even had to walk up to the bar and ask for our check. The manager was also rude and didnt seem to care about our issue. The service here is terrible and the management must hate his job. I dont recommend this place. I am going to add that I am a Hispanic female and the terrible service but overly attentive waitstaff to the Caucasian customers can only leave me thinking this place is prejudice and not welcoming to minorities. The crowd was all white people, that should have raised a flag. I will be doing a more thorough review on my blog. #BadServiceHouston #PlacesToNeverEat

4 stars for the service and complimentary bread pudding.. So..we stopped in just to see what this place was and had a seat inside. We were greeted by a very nice gentlemen at the doors who pointed us in the direction of a table in the corner. In looking at the menu (Wine, cheese, sandwiches and dessert) we decided that we were looking for something a little more hearty and mentioned to the waiter that we were going to leave. He was so nice about it..and before we left he brought a complimentary bread pudding to our table. with 3 scoops of Ice cream and 3 spoons. We sat there and ate it and laughed..it was sooo good..How kind of them to simply give that away. Parking is a breeze as you can park in any of the nearby shopping lots and walk to the Drexel house. Its a bit tucked away but is behind the apple store in highland village. We will certainly be back.. if not for the food for the 4-star service.

Came here for dinner one night while in town. It was a nice day to sit outside in Houston, which is rare. The service was good, we didnt have a designated server, it seemed like, but we got a lot of help from all the servers. We got the Fried Mac and Cheese and it was really good, we asked for a side of marinara sauce to dip our mac and cheese in and it was really good. The order was big enough for us to share. We also ordered the Pistachio Pie and the Sweet Caroline. The pizza was a little over done for our liking, it seemed a little dry. The server was really nice about it and got us a little more sauce and that definitely completed it. The chef came out to talk to us and he was super nice as well. We also got the Nutella Pot de Creme. It was very tasty as well. I would come back after this experience because everyone was so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend Drexel House to anyone in this area.

I have been here several times before and was always content with the food. Today was my 3rd visit and I must say that the service was horrible. Our waiter served us our drinks and food but that was pretty much it. Never came around to check up on us or offer us refills. When we tried to let the manager (assumed the man dressed differently behind the bar was the manager), he was pretty indifferent and rude about our complaint. Maybe I wasnt dressed appropriately for this restaurant today and that is why I was neglected? Who knows, but for a restaurant that has a descriptor of "Eclectic" on its page, it was anything but.

Former place of employment, occasionally assist with catering needs. Patio dining for fine diners is a great description. Awesome food (MUST try the BBQ pizza!!!), friendly staff, daily specials, live music and specials on Stella draft beer on Sundays, Italian Night on Tuesday, rotating menu suited just for your tastebuds, all in all a flawless place to eat...must check out! Tell Rachel (AGM), Tim (GM), or Aaron (OWNER) I sent you!

An intimate eatery and wine bar tucked away in the heart of Highland Village, behind Crate and Barrel. Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat with my sweetheart. We both had the pappardelle pasta with italian sausage, peas and carrots in a cream sauce. It was amazing! You could tell the pasta was homemade and it didnt leave me with a heavy feeling after I ate it. They also have a great selection of international wines!

Had a nice light lunch with my wife here. Cobb Salad was good, and my wife had the gazpacho, which was excellent. We did have to try the croissant bread pudding as well, and it was incredible! Go for the chocolate! They also have an incredible wine list for those that are interested.

Not a bad place to grab a drink if you happen to find yourself near Highland Village. I didnt try the food so cant comment on it but they had one of my favorite champagnes for a reasonable price - made even more reasonable by happy hour discounts!

These guys are great. I feel terrible and wish I could review this customer sitting next to me running these good people through a gauntlet and they run it like champs. She might be mental... Good job guys and food and coffee is awesome too.
