I was on my way home from visiting in San Antonio, and stopped because of all the rave reviews. Hah. Major disappointment all around. I ordered fried pickles and fried green tomatos- figured Id take most of them home, but I never see them on menus and I love them, so.. Big mistake. The breading was thick and completely unseasoned, so you couldnt taste anything but greasy fried flour. They were, hands down, the worst Id ever had anywhere. Plus I received my appetizers and the meal all at once, so I had to choose what I was willing to eat cold. Maybe Im just too "big city" (yeah, Im from Cleveland TX- hah), but the dining establishments where Im from serve appetizers BEFORE the meal, not at the same time. But hey.. what do I know? I got the catfish with 2 sides. The fish itself wasnt bad, nothing special, but tender and well- cooked.. but I really wasnt interested in the mashed potatos when they came with a side of houseflies (yes, multiple). I might need protein, but I prefer it in the non-insect variety.. and knowing what flies do, I wasnt about to eat something theyd walked all over. I thought the steamed veggis might be good.. but the broccoli was so old that the cut edges had turned dark brown and the cook apparently thought this was ok, because they left the dried up brown stuff on it instead of at least trimming it off. The squash tasted metallic and off, and overall they were inedible. To add insult to injury, the waitress just ignored me after bringing my food.. I picked through everything, pushed it away... and was ignored. I stacked the dishes up so it was obvious I was done.. nada. I listened to the waitress for the table behind me tell her customers (also her friends) about getting SOOOO drunk, sleeping 3 hours, and coming in to work with the WORST HANGOVER EVAR!!11!!! and then going on her break and downing 2 tallboys "and now I feel so much better!!11!1!" I listened to the waitress on the other side discuss her new car with her customers. I finally tracked down someone who would acknowledge me and asked for a check. 15 minutes later, "New car waitress" showed up to ask if I wanted anything else. ...uh, no, I want to LEAVE. It annoyed me, because the waitresses were very attentive to all the tables around me. I felt invisible. I guess maybe its a great place if youre a local, but if youre just passing through and dining alone? Not hardly. It totally ruined my mood.

First time going there and would definitely go back. They have a fun yet simple atmosphere that caters to family and group settings. We were surprised by our drinks being served in miniature pitchers, but that added to the fun home atmosphere. PROS: - Our waitress, Arianna, was great! She was polite, willing to check on options and had a great personality. - Food. When you come here definitely bring an appetite because the serving portions are BIG! The fish, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and shrimp all have a great crunch to them. Nothing was soggy. SUGGESTIONS: - While the food was great, they could definitely amp up their flavoring on the fish and such. They flavored the fries more than anything and even then, some of the fries were too salty.

This has been the worse place we have gone. Junk food, and bad service plus a special touch of discrimination. We were five in our table and the waitress had charged me over ten dollars for tip. I check the menu and find out the 15% was supposed to be charge on groups of six or more, so I denied paying for it. I understand when I have to pay for tip this way, but not just because the waitress decides to do this trick. We have our own business and expend a lot on eating out but hate to be treated this way. Be sure we will never go back to this place. Shame on the waitress name Amanda V. even though we are Hispanic we know what running a business is specialty in the Restaurant field.

I am so sorry some people have written a bad review. I do not understand since our experience was so great twice. My wife and I are a retired couple and do not go out to eat very often. We went to Dixie grill about two years ago and the food and service were both excellent. I was hungry for seafood and I suggested we go back to Dixie Grill this past weekend. I just have to say the food and service were nothing but excellent again. As a matter of fact, I just got off of an email suggesting that my son and daughter-in-law try them out. I was telling them how amazing the Sea Food was and right here in Seguin, TX.

We were greeted & seated promptly by a very friendly hostess. Our waitress was very friendly & efficient. We got the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes & I had a salad, my husband had the Mac & cheese. It was plated very nice with more than enough portions. Everything was delicious & tasted homemade. We are giving 4 stars as our chicken fried steak was a little tough but the flavor made up for it. Thank you, for yalls friendliness. We will stop by again when were in the area.

Went here with my parents. I am a Chef by trade so going out to eat can be kind of a sorry experience. Well our appetizer of fried mushrooms was bland. Our salads were okay. but its salad.. I had a burger because when I go to places like this I usually get that because I dont want to be disappointed. My burger was good and not greasy. My mother said her catfish was alright and Dad had the meatloaf.. said mine was better.. but overall .. eh. nothing special.

Omg ...... If you want some down home feel good comfort food "THIS IS THE PLACE !!! " Im forty years old and I want my birthday here , Ya know ? Ohh and my sever was a TRUE PROFESSIONAL . This guys name is Josh, .... so ask for that dude . tell the hostess that you want to sit at Joshs table. So Im a cheep ass and so a bill for like 23 bucks Ill leave about three or four bucks for a tip . I left this dude $12 This place is tha bees knees

Our waiter was Justin and he did a fantastic job! Super friendly and fast, he never kept us waiting long and was patient with my wifes vegetarian needs. She had the veggie platter and was pleased with the options available to her. I had the seafood feast and it was definitely a feast, could have easily fed two. Both of our meals were awesome and only made better by the atmosphere and friendly service. I definitely would recommend!

Everything you want a family restaurant in Texas to be. The chicken was breaded beautifully, crispy delicious. The mash potatoes and gravy-yum. The service was friendly and responsive, but not intrusive. Nothing negative to say. It was busy with lots of families and groups, so it isnt just a spot where travelers end up (though very convenient!) I plan road trips to take me by town at mealtimes so I can go again and again.

Horrible food chicken fried steak was served raw, not enough wait staff owner or manager seemed a little racist. He would ask everyone around us if they were doing ok, but always skipped the table of 8 latinos. Too bad so many people in town for tournaments this weekend looking for a good place to eat, will definately spread the word about the service and food at this place.
