I visited Dough with three friends on a Monday. We arrived at 8.20pm and were told that it would be a 45 minute wait because there was a party of 4 and a party of 7 ahead of us. The hostess said that 45 minutes was a high estimate, because it was better to guess high than low, but probably it would be about 30 minutes. We watched several parties of 2 get seated while we waited, and after the party of 7 and party of 4 were called and seated, we expected to be next. This was at 35 minutes of waiting, so we thought it would be right on time. At 45 minutes, noticing that many parties of 2 were being seated at rather large round tables, I asked how much longer our wait would be. The hostess told me that we were next and that they were just waiting for people to leave our potential tables. However, in the time following, several other parties of two were seated within minutes of arriving, then a party of 3 was seated within minutes of arriving, and then a party of 6 who arrived 15-20 minutes after us (a mother/father with 4 kids, hence the noticing their arrival) was seated. At this time (it was now 1 hour and 20 minutes after our arrival) I went back to the hostess and asked when our table would be ready and why that family of 6 that arrived after us was already seated. She said "Oh, whats your name again?" I told her my name and that we arrived at 8:20. The three hostesses looked on the paper but it was a new paper by this time, so they scrambled to look for the old paper and then apologized because they had forgotten us and said theyd have a table ready soon. They sat us within about 10 minutes at a table that was smaller than the round tables that 2 people were sitting at, and MUCH smaller than the table the family of 3 was sitting at, who had arrived about an hour after us and had been seated almost immediately. We were frustrated, but willing to give this place a chance since we had heard such good things. However, the service CONTINUED to be lacking. Once seated, a waitress did not come to our table within ten minutes, not even to bring water or ask for drink orders. Then, we ordered flatbread, pizzas, and a side salad for me. The flatbread and side salad came almost immediately (and were very good) but the pizzas took an unreasonable amount of time to arrive. During the time that we waited for pizza, we were without water (we drank the first bottle, because we were thirsty from waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes outside in the heat) for ten minutes. I asked a nearby waiter for some and he ignored me. He actually said yes, but then proceeded to do other business inside and back around our table, without acknowledging that he did not fulfill my water request. Also while we waited, the family of 6 received their pizzas and FINISHED EATING THEM before ours even arrived. All the tables around us were finishing and leaving, and we had not even received our food. Additionally, there was no one seated after us. We were the last to be seated, the last waiting, so its not as if the restaurant was incredibly busy at this time, which could be a possible excuse for this poor poor service. We just could not understand. We knew that one of the benefits of the volcanic rock oven is that the pizza cooks in a matter of minutes. So how was it that even the party of 6 who was seated just before us was already finished and leaving and we had not received our food yet? When we ate and left, it was 2 hours and 20 minutes after we first arrived. We wanted to order dessert, but were afraid of how long it might take to get the service, so we left and went to the Quarry instead.

REAL REVIEW: Let me start by saying, my wife and I are foodies and truly enjoy sharing meals that makes us happy. Dough Napoletana Pizza is definitely what the doctor ordered when it comes to an authentic Wood Burning Oven Pizzeria, located conveniently just off Blanco Rd. To be honest, my wife and I attempted to eat here on Saturday night roughly around 7:30PM... How foolish we were as it is usually packed at every restaurant on Friday and Saturdays. This Pizzeria was extremely packed and we understand why. We drove back the following day (Sunday) and decided to stop around 5:45PM... And yes, it was still packed. They only had one available table left inside and several outside. The outside might have been a better option with more elbow room for comfort. It was roughly 73 degrees a perfect night to eat out front, however we opted for the one table indoors. It was a two seat table and was kind of on top of those other patrons around us. This would probably be the biggest negative for this restaurant. Tight quarters and limited seating is an easy inconvenience to look past once Allison (our waitress) showed up with a great smile and her knowledge about what we were seeking to eat or eating. Excellent service and very attentive. The hostess was also very friendly and the service was exceptional. Now onto the food. We ordered as an appetizer the "Sampler" which consisted of the Rollatini, Richards Caprese, Burrata & Prosciutto, & Flat Bread. WOW!!!! Excellent!!! You can literally just go for the five time filtered water (which needed no lemon) and the Sampler and it would be very satisfying. We also ordered the Fontina Pizza (added Homemade Sausage) and the Blanca (actually thought it was Bianca). The Blanca was very tasty and the texture was great. The crust was not as crispy as the Fontina but still good nonetheless. Allison offered and gave us the tomato sauce ($1) to add to pizza or flat bread as well as a sample of the Truffle Barata (excellent). The Fontina was very tasty. It did have an overpowering taste of sweet caramelized onions and the oak roasted mushrooms were very faint. The added homemade sausage was very good. It was of dry taste and a little spicy but gave the pizza nice texture. Finally, the flat bread was soft and saturated with Extra Olive Oil. It still was very good. We had no room for dessert and even had to take some of our food to go. The Sampler was the highlight for us and will definitely go back for that specifically. Overall our experience was an 8.5 out of 10. Great atmosphere and truly an excellent choice to try. We highly recommend the above and will go back several more times to try different samplers and desserts. We also hope you enjoy.

Ciao! Here an Italian descendant born in Hudson Co. NJ.and San Antonio resident..Tonite my son gave me a treat at DOUGH Neapolitan Pizzeria (?)...Jr. said, according to that Guy Fieri from the Food Channel, this is The Pizzeria! (maybe they paid Fieri for the advertising).. OK... 45 min wait and all crunched with people in a "minibar" while you wait. That, cost us 21 bucks for a couple of beer drafts...with a free taster..I already had a bad feeling about this "authentic" Neapolitan pizza taster..It tasted like brick oven bread with tomato sauce/cheese...Then at the table, my son ordered an antipasto that the lady server said it was enough for 2..Far away to be an Italian style antipasto..The Eggplant-Melanzane in it were uncooked and hard, lots of olives(after 4 hours I am still burping olives) and some other mini ingredients Italian wannabe.. OK, we are picky as we cook Italian almost every day at home and go to Italy on vacations to visit relatives and buzz.. That Little antipasto, 12-14 bucks + tx..The Pizzas dinner with no wine, were medium one salami and "Buffala mozzarela" (really?, that item is only originally from Naples) with tomato, Pizza margherita and additional 5 bucks for "Prosciutto San Daniele" topping (S. Daniele who??) I wonder if this Mexicans understand that San Daniele prosciutto and Parmegiano Reggiano formaggio cheeses are only D.O.C, Italy!...How did they get it here?? in summary, watch out ! ...2 persons will end up paying about $80/$100 for a visit to DOUGH Pizza that tastes some like Bruschetta semi burned bread, home made in brick oven. Just an old far west San Antonio TX robbery. No one is Italian from Napoli here!!..As contrast, you can instead go to dinner to the Brazilian Steak House "Chama Gaucha" of L1604 and enjoy a comfortable complete 2+ hours buffet antipasto, all you can eat, and non stop "Rodizio" delicious variety of meats on the firewood embers...DOUGH PIZZA is Not recommended for Italian descendants and specially, Italian food home cooks like me..Other tourist and locals : Buona Fortuna-Good Luck! Arrivederci !!.
