My wife and I have been coming here for years and have always enjoyed great food and service. We were concerned when we did not recognize any of the staff today. Our concern increased with the bad attitute of the waitress who brought us menus and took our drink orders. After a lengthy wait another waitress took our order. She brought our soup and told us that they would not honor our special request and bread our chicken. My wife told her that they had done this for us for years and asked her to please double check. She never returned, but a waiter then brought the appetizer. I told him we were cancelling our order since they refused to honor a simple request that they had honored for years. I told him I would pay for what had already been brought to the table, but to quit bringing things. He said we did not need to pay. We left. I assume Thai Soon has changed management and ownership. All good things must end.

Service is as bad as it gets. Walked in the place was packed, so I decided to order take out. Another gentleman sitting there recommended we come back as he called ahead and had been waiting there for 45 minutes for his single order. So I asked the lady how long it would take and she said 30-45 minutes. So we drove home and called back after 45 minutes and was advised that the food would be ready in 10-15 minutes. After the 10 minute drive the lady said it would be out in a couple minutes. After another 30 minutes of waiting I asked the lady to check on the status of the meal, she went back into the kitchen and returned to actually be honest and stated that they would begin cooking our meal in about 10 minutes. I then proceeded to demand they return my money, for which I was given attitude. Only go to this place if a 3 hour wait for dinner for 2 is acceptable.

Walked in for lunch yesterday. Ordered the Royal Thai curry lunch special & a calamari appetizer. The waitress forgot to put in my soup and egg roll for the lunch special which was delightful to discover once I got back to the office. The calamari was soggy and rubbery with a thin rice flour batter that had long since gone soft. The yellow curry comprised mostly of cabbage carrots and a measly four pieces of shrimp. The flavors are not authentic and mediocre at best. If you are into Americanized Thai fair then go here otherwise save your money and find a more authentic spot. I dont mean to be harsh but where are those amazing lemongrass/ tamarind/ fish sauce chili and a hundred other favors that make Thai cuisine so amazing. I hate that places like these with their bursting with sugar/ mediocre / artificial food parade such a sham.

Its very good food for the money. I come here pretty often, but beware.... if you come on a weekend and particularly sit outside, you could wait a very long time for service. I once sat outside with my husband for about 35 minutes b/f our appetizer came out. In fact, I had to go inside to ask them where it was. I was furious. Then it took even longer for our meals to come out. I was irate at this point and almost walked away, so when the meals came out I told them to just bag it to take home. They are nice people but sometimes short-staffed, and it can be very annoying. This was not the only time this happened. Overall the food is great, and the owner is quite nice. I still go there.

I have been going to Thai Soon for years. Their staff is always so kind, and the food is consistently very good, and their menu has a good selection. I saw that there are complaints about the prices, but I believe the dinner portions are about only $9 and the portions are plentiful. I dont believe it is any more expensive than other Thai restaurants in the Dallas area. The place is small and next door to a nail salon, but it isnt normally an issue. Oh, and be sure to bring your own wine!

I have frequented this location since it opened waaay back when. Hands down, my favorite Thai restaurant with the exception of Thai Kitchen, but hey, thats in Austin. I have never been disappointed in my order. They have the yummiest Tom Yum soup. Their lunch specials are pretty darn unbeatable as you get a meal with an fried spring roll and your choice of soup or salad for under $8. The staff is also nice, which means everything to me.

Fantastic Thai Restaurant, The food is amazing, the service not so much.. but the great tasting dishes make the slow but very friendly service, well worth the wait. only a small place that seats around 40 people but always busy.. Must try their Yellow curry over flat noodles and for desert the Sticky Rice and Coconut ice cream. This is now my most favorite Thai restaurant for price, quality, portion size and taste.

One of my most favorite Thai Restaurants. Not run of the mill in any sense: You get the best bang for your buck, the service is prompt, and the food itself is divine. Most Thai places cost up to (easily) twice as much for the same portion and lacks in taste. What you forego in lavish ambiance you make up for in authenticity. Plus its one of the FEW, GOOD restaurants/cuisines that cater to a vegetarian palate!

Ordered Tom Kha soup with chicken and they only have a medium or large, not small like everywhere else. It did not taste good at all! Too sour, chicken tasted gamey, and there were big pieces of cabbage in it. Ive had Tom Kha soup at a dozen places but none had cabbage and tasted this bad...thats how I gauge if the Thai food is good at a restaurant. Glad I didnt order anything else. Disappointed.

Bland Dry and over cooked. Disappointed that the orange chicken wasnt fried . Pad Thai wasnt fully mixed and some noodles coated with the sauce but half were plain with no sauce. The Mango on our sticky rice was nice, but the rice was dry with limited sauce making it tough and tasting like it was made yesterday. I could understand if this was a rush order on a Friday or Saturday but we ordered on Monday .

I come here just for the yellow curry. Im sure their other dishes are probably tasty, but I like the curry so much I cant even think of ordering something else. A blend of spices I crave on a regular basis. I did order their corn cakes once: delish. And, as another reviewer said, ENORMOUS portions. I always get 2 meals out of 1 order. Have to try the mango sticky rice. . .

Authentic Thai. Very good steamed dumplings made fresh by hand. Even the broth for the won ton soup is complex but delicate. Friendly service; you have to speak a little slowly for the hostess/waitress/person who makes the dumplings, as she is Thai and her English is serviceable but not colloquial. Decor is basic, but the food made to order is outstanding.

This place is within walking distance of my house and I have eaten here several times. The food is delicious and the servers are pleasant. My favorite is the Spicy Thai Basil. My niece really raves about their chicken fried rice, which I agree is delicious. I dont think they have a liquor license but it is no trouble to bring a bottle of wine if you like.
