I dont understand why this place is so highly rated. I paid about 13 bucks for a shrimp and oyster basket and I got 3 shrimp and 3 oysters, then a huge mound of undercooked steak fries, which sucked. I was still hungry, I dont want to force myself to fill up on bad fries, I came to a seafood place for a reason. Oh, and I asked how big the draft beers are and the cashier didnt even know. I asked if it was a pint. He says "Uh, I dont know. 14 or 16 ounces?" It was a 12 ounce plastic cup...3.50 for that. A 12oz Domestic draft is 3.50. What? So I paid over 16.50 for essentially a basket of fries and a 12oz beer and got to sample the oysters and shrimp. What a ripoff. OH, and you have to make your own cocktail sauce. They seem to be proud of that, you get to play chef and mix it yourself which is a pain in the ass if lots of people are trying to do the same thing. And to top it all off the booth I was sitting it was all sticky. I dont even normally complain about anything, but this was appalling how shitty it was. I wish someone had told me this. Dont go here, ever.

Im not even sure if to rate it a 2 or a 3 because this has happened so many times, I even want to give it a 1! But since we actually enjoy the food here we still go back every once in awhile :/ Big Shucks uses the "Honor System" which I sometimes, no actually I REALLY dislike! First of all, I dont go to a restaurant knowing I cannot afford what I plan to eat, but what really did it for me is the way some of the staff acts. I understand there is a risk with this system & there are people ripping them off by not paying for everything they ordered but please do not prejudge every other person for this. especially minorities!!!! Its happened far TOO MANY times, that I have witnessed them keep tabs on exactly what we ordered and then the person that took our order hovers around the register when the time comes for us to pay to see if we list out all we had. IT. IS. RIDICULOUS. I rather them just do away with this system because they just come off as the very rude people they are.

The good: - Walk in the place and the decor lends itself to a seafood resturaunt one would find on the coast, which I thought was great. - Staff was friendly and the food was prepared well. - Their ticket times (food order to table) were pretty incredible. Seems like it took 3-4 minutes to get our food. - LOVED that they had large (32oz?) cups for water / drinks. Totally negated the need to get up for a refill. Needs improvement: - I ordered the 3 oyster and 3 shrimp meal. I thought I would be getting raw oyster because I didnt see any other description on the menu. Might have been my fault, so I guess I cant completely fault them for that. However, the fried Oysters were "ok," as in, I would order them again. - Seemed very very expensive for what it was. I think the price for my meal was like $12.99 if I recall correctly. Perceived value wasnt really there. Overall, I would recommend Big Shucks, but maybe try something else on the menu.

Nice Atmosphere and thats it! This place ought to be called Big Sh**s! First visit here and Last visit here I should have known by the taste of my drink. I ordered the strawberry Magarita for 6.99 you are better off getting a Beer Rita from your local gas station for about 2.50 talk about SOUR! I ordered the Lunch Special for 6.99 1 piece of fish some shrimp fries and oysters Fried and nasty no seasoning. only one check out register so you have to stand in line and wait to pay for this nasty mess oh did I mention its not real catfish. The same catfish they cook you can find at again your local gas station in the food cooking section if they have one where they cook the chicken fries etc. speaking of fries Hard and cooked in old greese.. This was by far the worst seafood i have ever eaten. Thank God for Razoos Cajun Cafe.

This is/was my favorite restaurant. Invited a friend of mine for lunch yesterday who has never been there and works at Coit & LBJ. I highly recommended the 3 catfish filet plate that I usually get when there. The catfish are always good size moist fillets, this time they were small, skinny and not very good. We ate them anyways for they were not bad, just not very good. I told the cashier about it and he casually said next time bring them back? I doubt seriously my friend will be back or bring any of his co-workers, they usually go to Pappadeaux. When you go to their website under contact us and input your information and submit. It gives you an error message! As for me, not sure about you guys anymore??

Came a year ago and it was good, came today and ive never been treated more rudely... guy takin the order looked at my wife and said "you? What are you drinking" me and her had to take a pause cause we were shocked how rude he asked her... anyway we blow it off, then the woman that brings our food ignored both me and my wife when we both said thank you very much and she just walked away without a word.... to make everything worse we had to pay the same guy that took our order and when we were done paying he put our receipt on the counter and didnt say thank you or have a nice day or anything... i have never felt more unwelcome anywhere. Never going back.

This place has great food. Seriously, you cant go wrong here if you like seafood. The only thing that is horrible is how they have their ordering and payment system set up. You have to wait in a long line to first order your food. Then, after you pick it up at the counter, you eat, and then go into another long line to pay. It is the payment line that takes forever. They seriously need to get some more registers, and it would be nice to have waitstaff bring the checks and run your credit card like other restaurants.

This place having a good review is hilarious. I guess people around here like a huge basket of fries and 3 fried oysters for a fried oyster basket. Also you make you own cocktail sauce here which is an insanely idiotic idea. Yeah, I just stood in a line to order, now I get to stand in another line to do prep work, great. Everything is super expensive for the sub par seafood you get and the employees didnt understand what a "pint" was when I asked about the beer selection. This place sucks hard.

Hand battered rings and fried shrimp, fresh oysters! This is the place to get your oysters! I am back and I love this place! Happy hour gets u the best value. Back again and oysters still good, beer still cold! I also tried the fried shrimp and "HAND BATTERED ONION RINGS!" Wow any joint that can make their on rings gets an automatic 5 stars! Shrimp were awesome rings even better. Wow oysters on the half shell, fried shrimp and homemade onion rings! Great job
