Just got back from a 3 day vacation here. The heat is brutal. Of course, thats not the Lodges fault, but be ye warned: go sometime other than the height of summer if you arent keen on heat. If you are a traveler who only needs the basics, or a family looking for a place to stay that is reasonably priced, then this could be your place. Ive seen other reviews talk about how large the rooms were. We had a room on the ground floor facing the pool, and it was the smallest, most basic lodging Ive ever seen...and that includes time spent at summer camps. My husband and I had our large dog with us, and wed all three have to coordinate our movements when we had to go from one side of the room to the other. One side of the queen bed was about half a foot from one wall, and the other side of the bed was maybe four feet from the other wall. The foot of the bed was approximately three to four feet from the front wall of the unit. There is no storage space. No closet, no drawers, one ledge for your suitcase, and thats it. You are given one towel and one pillow per person. Staff WILL change your sheets daily, but you must request it and one of your party must be in the room while the sheets are being changed. The atmosphere here is very laid back and friendly (helped in large part by the large number of dogs and dog lovers there!), and the staff was helpful and eager to make us happy. We could hear folks enjoying themselves around the pool until about midnight, but things shut down about then and it was surprisingly quiet. Dogs must be kept on leashes at all times, both at the lodge and on the beach. I wouldnt stay here again, but thats just me. This was a bit too bare-bones for my liking, but it suits many other people just fine. Different strokes and all that.

This is a bare minimum hotel. You definitely get what you pay for. The one good thing is that its literally right on the beach. If you stay here except a strong old smell. We bough spray and it was find. Make sure to bring your own towels they have a few but they are very small and cheep. The beds and pillows are not comfortable. The rooms are small. The restaurant has good food but service is seriously ridiculously slow. There is a flat screen in the room but its discolored and has like 10 channels. No appliances. The air conditioning was off when we got there so it was super hot for the first day but did cool off a little. I read that all the staff was super friendly but we didnt really notice they were not bad but they werent friendly. I would recommend staying somewhere else but it was cheap.

Its really nice. The rooms arent very big but they put so many things outside for you to do, theres a pool and plenty of spots for you to stand or sit with friends and family. They have a wonderful view of the ocean from their large upper deck and two paths that lead straight to the beach. The upper rooms have 5 beds and the lower beds have 1 large bed and half of them have a small bed so you can fit 3 people. Theres a restaurant right downstairs thats open till 9 for food and serves drinks till they lose business. The only downside Ive been able to see is the lack of convenient wall plugs and the lack of an oven in the room, but theres a microwave and I dont know if you really need an oven

I would only give this a 1/2. Our family got the 3 bedroom with 3 bathrooms. None of the 3 tvs worked. Only half the ceiling fans worked. The fridge would not close. The shower nob kept falling off. When we told the front desk the sent there drunk "handyman" that had an alcoholic drink in his hands and only asked about the fridge then tells the front desk "bartender" that everything was fine. When I checked out nobody knew about the awful non-service. Housekeeper said would tell the owner. Never heard from them and spent over $1300 for 4 days. Dont waste your time. The 1/2 star is for the lodge is right on the beach and it had 3 bathrooms. NEVER would I recommend this place to anyone.

I have been going to Port Aransas every other year for vacation. My parents live in Corpus and I rather stay in Port A. This hotel is a very cozy, home feeling. Its not like The Hilton hotel with fancy bed spreads or nice feathered pillows or nothing but the people and atmosphere is worth more than the Hilton. You will meet new friends. I met a couple of ladies from Austin that go every year as well. Also met a lawyer that sings and plays guitar. He was so nice and fun. He just made the whole bar have fun even if your shy. You can enjoy the pool at night after a long day at the ocean. Also you dont have to walk very far to get to the ocean. I love this place!!

Ive lived in Texas and now visit for work often. On weekends I enjoy traveling to Port Aransas for the relaxed outdoor setting. The highlight of my outings is padding up to the Port A Beach Lodge in my shorts and flip flops, ordering the Texas Boil and a Margarita or two and watching the sun light fade from the open porch. The food is delicious (hamburgers are also exceptional) and the service friendly. I dont like to be away from home that much, but this surely takes the edge off. Also, try them for breakfast- the french toast is a favorite.

Just spent 4 nights and 5 days at the Beach Lodge for spring break. We worried about the crowds and kids, us being middle agers. Was not a problem. The Beach Lodge is just one of those laid back, no watch, no care drink, eat, beach, sleep and repeat places. This is how a beach vacation should be. A room to sleep in, hot shower, friendly staff, good food and cold beer right on the sand. Great views, just a simple place doing it right!!Thanks Chuck and the gang for a great 29th wedding anniversary!! We will be back, found our new hangout!!

My husband and I wanted to have a nice view with dinner. We found this place on yelp. When we got there we werent greeted. So we sat our selves after 10 minutes when we werr about to leave the waitress comes to take our drink order. She brings my husband his drink and hands me and empty glass and tells me rudely it was self serve for mine. So i dont even touch my glass another 10 minutes later my husband and I decided we were done when trying to pay they charge us for my empty glass. This was by far the worst place i have ever been too.

Ive been visiting the Beach Lodge for a couple of years and I love it! Its laid back, no frills, cheap, even a little crazy sometimes. No phones in the rooms, no room service, not even the cleanest place Ive ever stayed...but, I love it! Its funky and right on the beach. The people are super friendly ( employees, regulars at the bar, and the repeat lodgers) Its definately not for everyone! If youre in a hurry, its not the place for you! If you dont like it, thats ok...we dont need you there anyway.
