Its as if TGI Fridays opened a Japanese restaurant. Thats the short review. More details below for those that are interested. However, if TGI Fridays is your place, youll be right at home here. But in terms of actual Japanese cuisine, theres much room for improvement and Im left with the overall impression that the owners/managers of this establishment are much more concerned with the affectations of the environment than they are with the heart and quality that goes into the food...which makes a stunning amount of business sense though, given the location and consumer market in the immediate area. The wait staff was very pleasant, I absolutely have to give them that. My green tea came out with a big, thick, curly, dark hair stuck to the inside of the mug. It was an apparent oversight of the waitress who, on my mention of it, remedied the matter at her own pace and later apologized. Speaking solely to the quality of the fish itself, the Nigiri was some of the best Ive had in Texas. I wont speak to the manner of the cut, ratio of fish to rice or the quality of the rice itself since I have not experienced quality in those facets of sushi here in Texas and can only assume theyre lost in this land. So by Texas standards, this was actually very good Nigiri. BUT, this is the ONLY place in Texas that has not served their Nigiri to me along with wasabi and ginger, which I had to ask for after waiting a few minutes to see if it was on its way (it wasnt). The "Rawkin Shrimp" was more like "Smooth-Jazz Shrimp". It was good but, nothing that I wouldnt trust the good folks at TGI Fridays to prepare with the same success factor. Certainly not indicative of the price. The shrimp soup was also a near miss. Lacking in range of flavor (excepting the ubiquitous spicy backdrop), the most substantial part of this dish was the little fried balls of rice, which I liken to a tater tot made with rice instead of potatoes. It contained what youd expect a Japanese soup to contain (scallions, tofu, mushrooms....things of that like and of course a moderate portion of shrimp) but the broth itself...the broth that is supposed to carry those other flavors to your palette....fell very short of its mark. Kind of like being dropped off at the end of your street instead of at your doorstep. If youve managed to read this far, congratulations. I hope Ive offered you some insight. Also, if youve managed to read this far, this might be the most helpful part of the review. Normally, my go-to credo is "Ill try anything at least twice". Simply put, I dont get the impression at all that Im missing anything by not going back.

Honestly the service was great! We were seated immediately (granted it was nine thirty on a Thursday) and our server was at the table within minutes. The food and drinks were also prompt. We ordered two appetizers the calamari and lobster spring rolls that were both well made and tasty. The calamari are these thick stripped for quid form I can only assume the largest squid tubes they could find. it is lightly fried and served with a soy based sauce. The Lobster Spring Rolls were wrapped on a light crispy paper and comes with four rolls. Its served with a sweet mango dipping sauce that complimented it well. My cocktail (Mango Margarita) was boozy which I loved. But that is were it stopped for us. We ordered a Spicy Shrimp roll, a King Crab roll (the ladder of which was priced at seventeen dollars) and for my daughter who just wanted noodles, The Chicken Yakisoba no chicken no veg. What we go there two rolls smaller then what you could find at a Kroger Deli and noodle plain no sauce no nothing. The King Crab roll did come with this yummy green sauce. It was akin to an asian salsa verde. However, with the small portion of the Maki Roll and the large portion the sauce I almost felt like we were paying more for the sauce than the Maki roll. We ate our food and left but I dont see us returning here anytime soon.

To be seen, not eaten. If you are looking for the place in the Shops at Legacy to be "seen," by all means dine or drink here. If you are interested in good food, good service and anything but a party environment, stay away. The music is incredibly loud, which I enjoy, in a bar or club, but when Im trying to enjoy a meal, I prefer a slightly lower key environment. The food is tolerable, at best. I thought I had actually found something I could really enjoy, the Tuna2 (squared) salad, which is mixed greens with two types of seared tuna, jalapeños, cilantro, avocado, cashews, wantons with a spicy garlic dressing. What I got was a bed of mixed greens with Ahi tuna on it. Thats it. I asked the waitress where the rest of the items were and she said she didnt know. After she brought out the jalapeños, cilantro, avocado, it made the salad a little better. Other people at my table had ordered appetizers, which came out last, hot dishes that came out cold, cold shashimi that came out room temperature. All in all, Im not impressed. I know that this is a popular restaurant, I just dont know why.

Our trip here was a solid four stars. Not quite five, but definitely a great experience. Its a great choice for sushi in Plano. We had about 12 people in our group for a birthday thing, and were seated in about 10 minutes. The server was attentive and we also found out that they have a "reverse happy hour" sort of thing during the week! AWESOME! Half Price sushi! We started with various appetizers which were all great and tasted fresh. We ordered a truck load of rolls after that, and not only were they brought out quickly (for the group size), but they were FANTASTIC! All of them tasted fresh and they were all pretty delicious. Im not even a huge fan of sushi, and I loved this place. I recommend getting whatever you want here. Whatever flavors you want, theyve got it, so have at it! And come after 8pm (I think), cause thats when the half price sushi is! Anyway, it made for a great Thursday evening, and the only downfall was that cleanliness was about a 3 star level. Not great, but thats whatever. Ill forgive that if your food is great and service was attentive.

Ok I dont normally leave reviews but I feel it necessary this time. Last night we showed up at 8 pm requesting a table for two and the hostess said they would text me when the table was ready (hour and a 1/2 wait time). We go get a drink down the street and come back and sit right in front of the hostess table the remaining 30 minutes of our wait time. Without anyone else waiting and multiple couples leaving we finally ask the hostess how long it will be. She says oh we texted you 3 times and you never answered but I will put you on the list. 1. I never received any texts 2. Why would they just continue letting us sit right in front of them without telling us? 3. They were too busy laughing and texting with each other (too busy to notice people just walking in and seating themselves at a table). We finally got sat at a booth literally right next to someone else when so many other booths were available. I dont know if Im overreacting, but working many years at a hotel has raised the bar for me in customer service and RA does not have it.
