I visited Toulouse for lunch today, which I was very excited to try. It is rather difficult to find if you are not familiar with the new shopping area. I was in shock!!! My office was just one block East on Westheimer near Highland Village for 15 years and I was lost!!! They call the area River Oaks which is a bit misleading. The area is awesome!!! I cant believe how many businesses and upscale shopping there are. I finally found it after stopping to ask several people. Valet parking was $9. I was going to sit outside because I love outside dining, but the weather was too warm to do so. Mariyen, the wonderful and very pleasant hostess sat me inside which wasnt a big deal since I arrived at 11:10 for an 11:15 a.m. reservation. Our waiter was Renee. I asked Renee what was "Crevettes" which was on the menu, and was I pronouncing it correctly? She replied, "I dont know, I dont know these pronunciations." I said to my girlfriend, thats rather odd, how can you work at a French Restaurant and not know the pronunciations? Renee proceeded to tell us the specials of the day. My girlfriend and I placed our orders, she ordered the chicken liver pate, which was the special of the day and I ordered the Escargots Toulouse. I wanted a drink that was sweet. Renee suggested the Blueberry Mule Cocktail, which was delicious. Renee delivered our drinks and then my friends appetizer of the day. I asked her where was my appetizer? To which she replied, "I didnt know you ordered." She apologized and said she would rush my order, which she did. The Escargots Toulouse left a lot to be desired. It looked like three sliders. I didnt care for the taste. Renee offered to get me something else, so I asked for the same appetizer my friend had, which was delicious. We were full once we completed the loaf of wonderful tasting French bread, butter, appetizers and a couple of cocktails. My bill was $43 for two cocktails and an appetizer. I was not sticker shocked since I had seen the menu online prior to dining. I didnt find Toulouse to be anymore expensive than any other fine dining restaurant in the area. However, it was too noisy for me. I couldnt wait to get out of there!!! I have never had a headache from the noise at a restaurant before. The noise level was not what I would call energetic!!! Also, I do not enjoy fanning bugs away because the doors to the restaurant are open. We are not in France, its Houston, Texas!!! If I were seated outside, I know thats what I could expect, but not inside. I would like to revisit the restaurant at a less noisy time of day.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was exactly what you want from a French restaurant. We had a medium sized group for a birthday, and the birthday girl had a fun time, especially with the sparkler at during dessert. However, our server was less than stellar. He knocked over the tables bottle of wine (about half full), spilling some of the bottle and breaking another glass in the process. Instead of bringing a new bottle, the server brought only one new serving to replace the glass he broke. Also, the server mixed up our entree order, which happens and is fine, but the server had a poor attitude about it. In general, the server seemed more interested in things other than serving the table. None of these issues are egregious, but the service was below what I would expect from this kind of restaurant.

It is a great spot to have Lunch if you are already in the area. The food is better than average and the staff is very kind. We were asked how our food and service was five or six times by multiple different staff members during our lunch. Their offerings are different from most restaurants you go to for Lunch. Here you can enjoy more French courses that include more seafood than your average restaurant. From musseles to escargos and fish. They also have things like lobster mac and cheese and hamburgers if you dont want to have too fancy of a lunch. The outdoor area is gorgeous when the weather is good. Overall good food, staff, and sitting areas. Im giving it 4 stars because I think that is what it deserves. I "like it." I did not come to "love it."

The atmosphere is very nice and the outdoor space make the restaurant very inviting. However, the food is dismal and very low quality. Although externally, this restaurant reminds one of the likes of Brasserie 19, it is far from it. Given the location, potential patronage and price, this restaurant should undergo a complete make over of its menu. The service is marginal at best and the wait staff should be educated at how to approach the guests, arrange the utensils and napkins and clear the plates. I really wish this restaurant well however the reason people go there, is not food or service.

An outstanding location restaurant with a terribly disappointed quality of dishes. House salad is plain and WARM !!! Tuna tartare and escargot are not thing to be proud of. Strawberry napoleon is no where near that of La Madeleine. Coffee might be a highlight of the entire meal. A wasted and disappointed new establishment for such a prestige location. We came back the week of Christmas 2016 for lunch. Wines and services were better , but dishes were average at best. Best of luck , Toulouse. We dont intend to come back.

Customer service was not good for me. Waited a long time to be waited on after being seated at the beginning and I was left unattended causing me to go and find my waiter when I was ready to go. However I have no complaints about the food and pricing for the drinks ordered which is why I rated a 2, but customer service is everything. Its important people feel good about the money spent they work hard for so I will not be returning.

My waitress Shoray ( hope I spelt that right) was attentive, friendly and treated me with the upmost respect as a customer, when other establishments close by did not. Since although i was wearing a suit it was clear I was executive security. The other establishments treated me like the help that was to much trouble to serve lunch. Shoray was wonderful I will attend the Toulouse more often as a result.

Toulouse is over priced and over rated. I thought I was going to a French restaurant. I dont think so. Bad food! My guest could not eat their meal. It was horrible. We were afraid to order dessert since the rest of our meals were bad. To our surprise, the dessert was OK, though not worth ordering again. Toulouse... get your act together or move to a location where nothing is expected of you.

Superb! I hosted a brunch/luncheon for my daughters 16th birthday at Toulouse! We had 25 girls seated on the patio and it was a gorgeous day! It was fabulous! The servers were outstanding as well as the managers, Pedro and Tommy, who helped me. The food was fantastic as well as the service. I have eaten there several other times and always had a great experience!
