I really enjoyed this place a lot. With some of the usual spots now closed down in the area, and others changing ownership which results in different quality and service, this was a nice hidden gem. I read through some of the other reviews citing the bad service, but we had anything but bad service at our table, and we were a party of 7. I remember when this place was a small food kiosk in one of the old shopping centers where old Chinatown was in downtown, they had some of the best banh mi sandwiches in the area. Im glad someone pointed their new location out to me and theyve definitely expanded beyond the sandwiches. I ordered the grilled chicken banh mi with an order of the tofu spring rolls, and my friends ordered the Banh Mi Bo Luc Lac & Hot Ga Dia (Beef Tips w/Egg) dish. The sandwiches were as good as they always were and the spring rolls were good and fresh. I do wish the peanut sauce for the spring rolls were of a thicker consistency, and this one was slightly runny, but still good. The beef tips were very tender and flavorful, and I think Ill have to order that for myself next time. You can order it with the bread or with the rice. The other thing im looking forward to ordering is the Banh Xeo which is a type of Vietnamese Crepe with pork, shrimp, onions, and been sprouts. We saw a couple order it and it was HUGE! Definitely a sharing dish. The restaurant itself is VERY spacious and there is a HUGE parking lot (which is pretty rare in this area). Theres no need to worry about not having anywhere to park and sit during lunch time. During our visit, the staff was very friendly and kept comping back to check on drink refills. Its one of those sit down and order places then you go up to the counter to pay. They didnt even blink an eye when we asked to split our checks, they were totally cool with it. Ive already got a few things in mind to order for next time, so Im definitely coming back.

Great place but seriously..what eatery closes on a Saturday? Business must be too good. .......Anyway, I have been having Vietnamese food for about 2 decades now and have tried it from Las Vegas to the Greek islands and I have never enjoyed a banh xeo as great or as Large as this one in all that time. Banh Xeo is described as a Vietnamese crepe but filled with pork, shrimp, and some sprouts. This one was amazing and I truly cannot wait to try their Bun Bo Hue style, spring rolls, pho, or banh mi sandwiches. Wow. Price is Seriously reasonable..the best price point, other than Les Grival midtown (which is my original Go To). Give this place a try. It is my new favorite. Parking is plentiful which is Great for a midtown place.

Paid Thien An a visit this weekend and found it very clean and well-staffed. I ordered a grilled chicken vermicelli bowl while my husband got a grilled chicken banh mi. We were disappointed by the so-so quality of the food, especially because of the high rating and number of Google reviews. You can get much better Vietnamese for the same price out in Sharpstown/Chinatown. If you have to stick close to Midtown, Id say Les Givrals (for banh mi) or Kim Tai are better options.

I love this place! Very authentic, I was introduced to it by a Vietnamese friend and have loved it ever since. Their Bun Bo Hue is delicious, best fried eggrolls of ANY place, best sandwiches as well! Ive never had anything here that wasnt delicious. They also accept credit cards now which is great since I never have cash. Call ahead in the evenings as they usually close around 6, but totally worth running over there for lunch or an early dinner/takeout!

The food here is good. This is where I go when I want authentic Vietnamese food outside of Chinatown. The location makes it a pain to get to during work days because of traffic in the area, but Rice University and the Medical Center area have such terrible Vietnamese options. The portions here are small compared to a normal Vietnamese restaurant, but the food tastes very good and isnt Americanized at all. The rice plates are really good!

Im not sure what they put in the food here but it leaves me wanting to knock every other restaurant review Ive made down a star to elevate this one that much more.. In addition to a meatball sandwich (omgthebread,) I threw down on a half order of fried egg rolls and walked out sucking down a red-bean smoothie with tapioca. Everything was made to perfection.

A bit on the pricey side for my liking (then again, hello TX and the tax rate there), but the food is pretty good. The beer cheese sauce definitely makes the cheesesteaks tasty! I guess I lucked out on the Service aspect-it was prompt and excellent. Also had to do with the timing-it was a little after lunch, and it seemed like they were on downtime.

I forgot what I ordered but trust me it was good. The spring roll is kinda mediocre but the place is nice. Too bad its kinda messy cause food comes pretty quick and customers leave pretty quick after finishing but there are not enough employees to clean the table. It was like 60% of the tables are still not cleaned yet. Overall still a great place

I was a regular at the original location on Travis, primarily due to the quality for the value of their banh mi. Happy to say that they havent missed a beat since their move to the new location on San Jacinto (though the banh mi prices are a little higher now). Fresh, traditional ingredients, on one of the better crusty French rolls in town.

Even though the name implies sandwiche shop, its one of my favorite full blown Vietnamese restaurant in Houston. The Bun Rieu was spot on and on par with grandma, though I did miss the banana flowers. Bánh Xèo was excellent with all the right herbs, the fish sauce was really good as well. Im also a fan of the sandwiches, Bánh Mì.

One of my few favorite Vietnamese sandwhich and pho places to go to. I come here often, anyone whos been here comes back, i promise if you come it will instantly become one of your favorites as well. Everything about this place is great. Good parking too. Grab one of their amazing homemade drinks from the fridge at checkout!

I have been a loyal custom at this authentic Vietnamese restaurant for over 15 years...do not let the name fool you. They prepare fresh authentic Vietnamese dishes daily. However they are closed Saturday. Never a bad meal here...100% of the time food here is awesome and fresh. "Hey Joe keep up the hard we love you!" JC

Overpriced for the banh mi and the che dessert. The che dessert was disappointing as it was filled with a lot of ice and barely anything of the good stuff. The only good thing is they have a variety of a lot of Vietnamese dishes. The new place is nice but the prices arent worth the quality of the food.

Vietnamese food thru and thru. the portions are big (sharing size for me) the taste is very authentic, the menu has both Vietnamese and english. And the prices are amazing with friendly service! Great big dining area, food comes quickly, and you pay after your done eating and no one is rushing you!
